Hi Ron. This is the first time I see one of your videos. I am an analyst of TWs headphones and I can tell you that your comparison is practical, clear and very useful for people who have doubts. I congratulate you for your work and your quality. Greetings from Barcelona, Spain.
I currently own the Technics AZ60 and the Sennheiser MW3. The Technics have the edge in sound slightly over the MW3 but the comfort is lacking badly. Technics unfortunately made a design flaw with a little nudge sticking out that rubs on your ear and makes them quite uncomfortable after 30+ minutes of wearing them. Sennheiser's MW3 are way more comfortable. I was looking into the B&O EX but also came across the Audio-Technica ATH-TWX9 recently. Both are a little over what I usually spend on earbuds but I'm kinda leaning towards the Beoplay EX. They are a little lower at $380 in the blue color and even lower at $327 with the black and also the goldish color on Amazon. So that would be a decent price. But only the blue ones are instantly available. The other 2 take over a week to arrive. The Audio-Technica aren't available at all atm. What's your opinion? Are the Beoplay EX worth spending an extra $150 over the MW3? Sound wise I know they are better but they lack on most everything else compared to the MW3 with the exception of the mic quality. The Beoplay EX have exceptional microphones. Their ANC sucks tho. So would u splurge on the EX just for the sound or would u stick with the MW3?
Awesome review ! Your comments make it easier in which ones to go with, seems like most of these wireless earbuds need a 3rd party eq to really make them shine, recently got a B&W Pi7 without the eq it sounded dull , about to get another set, B&O EX or ATH X9 is the B&O ex worth that Xtra 100 bucks ?
Nice video Ron. Btw 1st question: if you adjust the Eq on the X9 will it surpass the EX or be at par reg. sound? 2nd question is: after adjusting the Eq to increase the bass of the X9 will it retain the setting when you turn off the app of the X9?
Good questions! 1st answer: IMO, I think the sound would be on par with the EX. 2nd answer: Yes. The settings you set in the app will be retained after you close the app. Thanks for the support.
Just got a pair of Beo EX - LoooVe the SOUND - pretty comfy - get kinda slippery with some workout sweat - wonky connectivity sometimes - sub par ANC which is very disappointing - I’ll keep them for the sound quality alone but searching for the best backup pair for better ANC with still good sound - thinking Liberty 3 or Linkbuds S for the second pair
I have the link bud s good anc but not the best slightly reduces everything good for blocking voices but noises you will hear if you want to block both I say Bose mark Ii for me was the best for that I want to check these out for the sound quality
Haven't found one that tops my ex had the eq and they sounded amazing but after owning ex is a little bit above i do like the look of the audio Technica might give it a try
@@ronontech it's a shame the mtw3 has so many build issues. I've stayed away from them because of this. But they have a wonderful package for a great price now
Looking at either of these as my one bud for all. I'll use these at the gym and listening to music at uni campus and at home. How do you find them for gym use, if the volume is strong enough I imagine it can act as a ANC replacement or be close to it.
As a total package earbud, I would go with the X9, IMO. Yes, the EX has great sound, but the ANC is awful. The X9 gives you all the features and great sound.
@@ronontech I see. Appreciate the response. Since the original comment, I have done some digging and B&O might offer a 30 day free trial of the EX. Have sent them an email confirming that it is valid in Aus and is a no questions asked return. If I get the all clear I'll give them a crack and see how they run for my use, if not, I'll return them and by the X9s I guess. Any others I should be looking at or are these 2 top dog? Had XM4 before as a reference (IK ANC on anything apart from Bose QC will come close so I've prepped for that).
I never had any issues pairing to devices with the either the EX or the EQ. I do have problems at times with the app. Hopefully B&O will release updates to fix the software/firmware issues.
I just got the Beoplay EX today. Thanks for helping me make the decision. Sound quality & comfort, they are pretty special.... Cheers Ron.
They are amazing 🙏🏽🤓🤤
Glad you like them!

Thanks for the support! I really appreciate it!
Yes! Yes! Yes! Wow, I didn't have to wait long for this review! 🔥🔥🔥
Enjoy!!
Thanks bro. This is the video is was waiting for. BTW if anyone is ordering the audio technica ath twx9 from B&H in NYC they are on back order.
My pleasure! Thanks for the tip!

Their ANC sucks tho.
So would u splurge on the EX just for the sound or would u stick with the MW3?
For the money, I would go with the Momentum 3s. The EX does have great sound, But for the price, EVERYTHING should work properly right out of the box.
So if you adjust the EQ they will sound as good as the Beoplay ex? And which one feels better in ear?
It's close. But I will have to say the ATH-TWX9.

Glad I could help! I like the EX, but the ANC is awful. IMO, I would go with the X9 because of the better bang for buck.

Those are good choices. Especially for workouts. Have you thought about trying the X9s?

Try using the Spinfits 360. Way better stability at the gym. They used to fall out with the original silicone, not with the Spinfits.
@@fitunity Great suggestion. I just started switching my earbuds to SpinFit.
Great reviews! Great channel 👍
Glad to hear that you like them. Thanks for the support!
So which one is better based on Sound quality only?
I'd go with the Beoplay EX based on sound alone. I just wish they had more natural volume.
What's you best sounding set (top 3 ranked), after using equalizer to adjust the sound to your liking (from the corresponding apps)?
I'll have to get back to you on that...
And happy Thanksgiving
You too!
Lol I feel you bro. At that price there ain't no way them things are ever touching water
Facts!!
Haven't found one that tops my ex had the eq and they sounded amazing but after owning ex is a little bit above i do like the look of the audio Technica might give it a try
I understand. But have you tried the NuraTru Pros or the Status Between 3ANC?
@RonOnTech noi havent and i ended up getting the audio technica they sound really good second to my ex
A really good choice. They're flying under the radar for sure.
Hi which is louder ??
IMO, the X9s are louder. That is one of the flaws to the EX.
Would you say tweaking the eq on the ath, would make it amazing? How are the anc on them? How are the anc compared to the mtw3? Thanks!
Tweaking the EQ would help both. The ANC on the X9s is par while it is non-existant on the EX. Neither are anywhere near the MTW3, IMO.

I wonder which one is more louder at max volume?
At max volume, I believe they are equally as loud.
