I got fired with no warning in 2008. Scariest time of my life. I was the breadwinner, married with 3 kids (6, 3, and 1). Worst of all I had no savings living paycheck to paycheck. Luckily, I found a new job within 2 months and I was able to scrape by until then.
It always comes as a total shock watching US TV shows, or from yourself confirming that's how it is, where people just get fired with no warning or reason. Practically any job in UK or Europe (though it's changed a *little* since some companies started using 'zero hour contracts' which allow such things) there's no way you could be fired without you doing something that warrants 'gross misconduct' or continuing underperformance over months of monitored process.
The worst would be redundancy if the company just had to downsize or similar, where you'd get your contract agreed payoff and time before it happened... and they legally aren't allowed to put someone in your role for X months to avoid them making one person redundant and hiring a new starter at less pay.
I guess it;s just different cultures (and associated law)
Is it wrong to say I was paying more attention to your wall of movies? 🤣 There's nothing wrong with cutting back on your videos if you've gotten a better work opportunity for you and your family. We will all keep watching.

Hi Ken, I’m a recent subscriber in the UK, started watching your videos 2 months back. You’re definitely one of the most charismatic and nicest guys on YT for physical media. Its nice of you to explain about your job but take care of yourself first mate. Get into a rhythm with your job first and dont worry about output here. The vast majority of us will be here regardless and when you get settled into your new job then you can see what a comfortable CZcams schedule looks like. Tbh there are so many channels for different hobbies and interests that we’re all subbed to, so if you do drop to 2-3 videos a week it would probably be a blessing (for me anyway).
Looking through all the comments here i think you can see most people have jobs/mortgages/responsibilities so we know how it works. You’ve built a good community of nice like minded people, so just relax and do your thing when you can, we all support you. 👍🏻

Telling you this as advice cause if you're pumping these videos out AND working a job like THAT, you run the risk of burnout. Take care of yourself Ken. I've been through that situation three times. Can't express how I felt, but have to tell you that the upcoming opportunities are greater than the last one. You have your followers, not to worry about. Ask God for guidance always.
Family ALWAYS comes first. ALWAYS! I thought I was subscribed, quess I wasn't, I am now. Everything eventually finds its balance.

Just set your own pace and don’t feel guilty about dropping your frequency of content, less is more is the phrase. I only produce one video a week on my channel and my subs stay steady.

For starters…just glad you were able to land another spot that will fill the income level you’re accustomed to. I’ve never been fired or laid off either. Hell…I’ve only worked for two companies my whole life.
I feel you with the whole weekend thing. I MUST make time for my wife on the weekends and film my vids where I can on maybe a Saturday or Sunday. It’s though and I’m lucky to get 2 vids out a week.
But hey…as fun as CZcams is, if it’s not paying your full livable salary, everything else comes first.
I am a “hardcore” physical media report fan but your life comes first brother, not when I get it lol.

Have you considered a patron where you can share insider information, reccomendations, deals, and thoughts? I'd imagine would be easier to maintain consistently vs video and we can support the content a bit more. Just a thought.

Thanks for the update. I went the opposite with work was doing mon-fri and now thu-sat. Cutting back is not a big deal neither is the product value of the videos. Wouldn’t bother me if they were black and white. Enjoy the time with the family mate and all the best at your new job

I really hope your new job goes better than expected. I lost my job at Nike after very nearly 20 years. Similar situation, my division closed down and was left with a severance package. I’ve taken a lot of time off. Don’t know what to do with my life.
Congratulations! Life hit you with a massive change and you handled it exceptionally well, still able to take care of your family and be there with your wife and kids. The channel is fun, and I love your energy and keeping up with big boutique sales, which you do better than anyone else I watch on CZcams. But you are doing exceptionally well as a human being, as a responsible parent and spouse. I will continue to watch but I am also very happy that things are working out for you, despite the potential setback you were handed.

Something very similar happened to me I went from having a schedule where I had time alone at home to working the American dream now. I have time to watch one possibly two movies every week and I have to keep them family friendly

Ken. Man you are the absolute GOAT of cranking out physical media vids. Honestly I didn't know how you were pulling that off. As someone who's primary business is the health and welfare of others and who works 80+ hours a week himself, my advice is first and foremost you don't owe anyone an apology for anything! Everyone loves and supports you. It's imperative that your health and your family are the pinnacles of your priorities. You could post a video of a new coat of paint drying on your shelves and we'd all watch. Don't make CZcams your full time gig... unless there's a chance you're going to strike it rich for tens of millions of dollars. In that case, I say go for it and with your enormous wealth hire a personal private doctor who is also a physical media / movie freak. I have some recommendations for that person.

I've been used to working on the weekends for the past 25 years, and I know what it's like to have to change that around to work during the week. I much prefer working on the weekends while everyone else is at home, which obviously frees up the week for me to go and enjoy things while people are at work or school. Although There are obvious benefits and negatives to both sides.
Either way, you did say that you wanted to put out less content but make it more valuable, so the universe seems to have set up that opportunity structure for you. Excited to see what happens!
