Becky definitely had a traumatic past that haunted her. Dogs remember events that caused them pain & the feeling of being scared. My older brother was a devil to our dog & she always lowered her head & ears, tucked her tail in, hid from him or froze like a statue when he either called her name in a threatening manner or came near her. Though she didn't fear all men like Becky did.
don't judge your brother too severely.. I was in once in his situation too, we had a dog and the dog played favorite with my parents who fed him and with my older sister who was my parent's favorite. Dogs are sensitive to hierarchy as in a wolfpacks, and they will follow the lead of their owner. As a result i felt excluded and sometimes hated the dog who made me feel it even more but i often played with friendly chase with her. The dog showed no affection to me. However if i was away for month the dog would go crazy when i returned as if i was the person she missed the most. But resumed her neglecting attitude at me after a while. Bottom line don't judge your brother he's got reasons. And it's your parents who are responsible.

I don't think he is a dog whisper he just seems very smart and understands how a dogs brain works. Ceaser milan methods were weird and do not work for most dogs. Its more like he intidmates the dog to submit but in the long run a submissive dog is rather pathetic.
I think Becky always wanted to be with him but didn't know how to approach because of the trauma. So glad they are able to get along now
