    Thank you so much for sharing your tutorial . I find painting glass so challenging but love to include as theme to some of my pieces. Your step by step instructions were so helpful. Thanks again!

    People have sked me how to paint glass. My answer is always, you don't paint glass. You paint the reflections off the glass.

      @TheAcrylicAsylumwithMikeFerris  Před 2 lety +4

      Absolutely it totally is about the reflections on the glass that gives it the appearance.

    Very nice painting! How would you paint a glass jar, or container but it’s filled with something like flowers, a fish or grapes? Would they have some kind of reflection or bending?

    • @TheAcrylicAsylumwithMikeFerris
      @TheAcrylicAsylumwithMikeFerris  Před 5 měsíci

      I would say that whatever the object is in the glass would have a distortion to it and in that way it will really bring out the realistic, transparency and reflection of the glass in that way so in essence, it’s more of an experiment and how you want to make that distortion, but what’s cool about acrylics as you know they dry so fast that if you don’t like an angle or the way that the distortion looks, you can always cover it up with your background color and get closer to what it should be or until you like what you see. I hope that helps and happy painting to you.😁

    Great tutorial! Do you usually sketch it before?

    • @TheAcrylicAsylumwithMikeFerris
      @TheAcrylicAsylumwithMikeFerris  Před rokem +1

      Thank you for your feedback I appreciate that and yes, I always sketch my images before painting them. In fact, on the more detailed ones I have traceable images available on Patreon if you would like to check that out and in every video in the description box, I have a short video link on how I transfer images after drawing them on regular paper to the size of the canvas using wax transfer paper and a stylus which is nice so that I don’t have to erase a bunch of times on my actual canvas. Let me know if you have any questions or other comments and thanks again for all of your support and feedback and happy painting to you.😁

Let me know if there’s anything you want to see painted or any questions you have and I would be happy to answer anything that I can and also I apologize for taking a while putting out new content. I have some upcoming paintings that I’m going to be doing here shortly. I’ve been really busy building an off grid home in Hawaii but my time is getting freed up more and I should be putting something out very soon. Happy painting to you.😁

      I’m using a glass palette that I bought on Amazon a few years ago it’s really awesome and it’s easy to clean with a razor knife however I use plastic wrap to put over it just so I don’t have to clean all the mess later….happy painting to you😁

    What color were you putting down at 8:00
    Was it a grey or a lighter color of the background,

    • @TheAcrylicAsylumwithMikeFerris
      @TheAcrylicAsylumwithMikeFerris  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Thanks for your question and feedback. So it was basically the background color to knock back some of that dark shadow color that was in the glass. I hope that helps. Let me know if I can try to help some more and happy painting to you.😁
