Channel for Positivity l Understanding l Justice well, we need to negotiate a deal with China before NK, one solution I have is since NK has nukes we just give SK their own nukes and pull our troops out because SK could crush NK on its own and if SK had nukes NK wouldn't dare attack them or push the envelope, we could set up a treaty with China to where if NK attacks SK, China won't help NK, and we'll help SK, and do a vice versa for the reverse situation, we would be allowed to keep troops and a couple large bases in Japan ready for if NK decides to attack, this would give Japan the benefit of having a strong defense since they aren't allowed to have a big military and make sure we were in the region but giving China and NK their space, this deal would be designed to force everyone to cooperate based on the principle of MAD if both SK and NK had nuclear weapons, we see this work out in India and Pakistan two countries of varying strength and size, MAD is also the reason the US and Russia will never go to war, so MAD works.

The regime in North Korea is trying to stay in power. In the age of people power revolutions its only a matter of time before the hammer falls on them. The regime has to do this by raising the standard of living of the masses, that's where the nuclear programme comes in. Its a bargaining chip. The North Korean regime has done this in the past, however, agreements by the international community to provide economic aid in exchange for limiting their nuclear programme has fallen apart, by having an actual bomb their negotiating power increases as they can threaten to sell bombs to terrorists. Futhermore, America's biggest trading partners China, South Korea and Japan will be affected in war breaks out and global trade will be severely interrupted, perhaps even triggering a depression. America can't afford for war to break out and the North Koreans are well aware of that. Adding to the problem is the press's portrayal of the North Korean regime as foolish and weird, when they're a technologically sophisticated totalitarian entity.

Withdrawing troops from that region is out of the question, but that gives the North enough cover to justify their actions, actions borne out of a necessity to prove themselves more than a Chinese vassal state.
The sad thing is that if they accepted their role as China's pet project they would have way less troubles than they do now.

The only 'dealing' is diplomacy. Your previous presidents tried the best they could with NK. Trump and his disastrous incompetence in diplomacy is the reason this is flaring up.

Without a peace treaty, the two Koreas have been in a technical state of war perpetuated since 1953. Eisenhower's administration was the first to accomplish no resolution. The dilemma has persisted for 64 years.
