David, Athens, Greece was amazing!! To say, the least. I enjoyed all of the ruins. Our group even got to go to Corinth. Everyone was very nice. I look forward to going back again.

Neoclassical architecture and ancient Greek mythology have most definitely always been an enormous interest of mine to study. Ancient Roman architecture is also quite beautiful to me personally. I always incorporated touches of Neoclassical style decorating in my homes, especially the Master Bath.

As a Greek, I advice you to always have a Greek buddy when you go to eat at Plaka or any other tourist trap so he can talk to the locals and tell them not to rip you off, unless you want your budget to be a ruin too... :/

Hi , I was just watching this amazing and authentic video again. A small comment if I may... the metro station in Athens with the findings exhibition that is shown in the video is the Acropolis metro station but not the Syntagma metro station as verbally described. Great video ! much apreciated , thank you .

I lived in Athens for a year (over 20 years ago), and I think your video really represents the city well.
Athens is indeed a unique city with much splendor and much to do. I liked this video but perhaps with your next video show footage of the area of Kolonaki and the gorgeous shops, restaurants & cafes one can find there. Another secret of Athens [the Greeks don’t want tourists to discover] is the gorgeous areas of Kifissia, Kefalari, Nea Erythrea & Pyschiko etc all of which are located in the northern suburbs only a 25 minute drive from town. I highly recommend a lunch in Kifissia or Nea Erythrea followed by some shopping and then visiting a bar in the quaint area of Nea Erythrea. Oh and the beaches in the area of Vouliagmeni [south Athens] & in particular Astir Beach [no tourists know it] and only 25 minutes from town. Once you’ve done that I don’t see how one can’t fall in love with Athens. Always happy to advise if anybody wants……Anyway I loved my time in Athens! Thx David.

+Davidsbeenhere The neighbourhoods I mentioned are perfect for relaxing. Very different to down town Athens. You should def check them out……complete opposite to the centre. Also sorry to be blunt but…..Monastiraki has the worst souvlaki restaurants in Athens! I't's shameful that people eat there and think that's authentic greek food when it's absolutely not. If you want good food in Athens avoid the centre and venture to the above mentioned neighbourhoods. Just being honest.
Very nice video thanks a lot. Some extra info :-) Athens is not as dangerous as some think. Like all large cities, one will find good and bad areas. The prices are lower since the crisis hit the country and the services really good. The metro lines are really good and can get you everywhere whereas the buses are just ok. The ones that will go as visitors to an Athenian friend, will have the chance to experience the city from a local point of view, which can be majestic ;-)
