As an old schooler metalhead/rocker fan,,and an educated one, all I can say that, to me, WATAIN is the best metal band (be it black, thrash,death, glam, whatever) to come down the pike in....in over 25 years. Not since Metallica's "Master" album and Justice Tour,..throw in (to me a much better band from that era) Testament and of cours...there is not one since that era to come out that can touch Watain on so many levels. The respect they have for the stage, their Temple, is refreshing. It is almost impossible for a band to become truly iconic since the mid-late 90's, but Watain has done that. And for those who speak of the black metal old ways..well this band has always given their respect to the forefathers and as a Venom fan and what not back in the day....those people just don't matter and should be ignored.
A sincere thank you to Mayhem, thank you for missing some shows in the States because Watain played much longer because it was REAL. Thank you Watain for giving me great music and a stage show, do it like the 80's and fuck you to all the bands that think you can show up with just amps and think I am going to be entertained, only Chuck could do that..

I can't say that Watain is my favorite band in the world (probably 2nd favorite) but I honestly have never seen a band more on their A-game when it comes to shows. I saw them play in Columbus Ohio and everything about their performance was perfect.
very rare to find bands that can perform as well live as they do on record.....especially is the black/death/etc. metal genre
It's been a long time but who was your #1 at that time? I think right now Watian but for awhile it was Behemoth amd Belphagor. It changes from time to time but but I'm with you on Watain👹

I wouldn't call Watain a black metal band. They have their neliefs. So what? I saw them once. There was something unsettling present.

Another reason I love this band, they bring me back to the old ways of concerts. I have grown BEYOND tired of the band that just sets up amps, maybe a back drop and just plays. It is the KISS fan in me, I like to see a show. KISS, Dio, Iron Maiden all the greats gave a show, big stage like Venom as well. So many bands in the past 25 years get up on a huge stage and they look lost, it is too big for them, not these cats

no, that guy was standin close to me, i think he was from norway or so. but we had similar tattoos, he has had a watain sigil on his hand and i'm having the Dissection cross tattooed on my hand.

Oh yeah, (here come the haters) Watain could teach the entire black metal community a fesson..THEY got it RIGHT. Bands like KISS, Sabbath...they inspired and people took from them, Watain has created and given much more than what they were left or introduced to in terms of their genre, THEIR generation...I know, I've seen it all...

Um...anyhoo, apart from all the same old usual religious/spiritual (or lack there off) bickering involved here, just like on many other amazing black metal videos, i just wanna say, this is an exceptionally killer set and as like BEHEMOTH and CARPATHIAN FOREST these days WATAIN are in fine form...which makes me wonder, why the fuck were they playing a jokefest like Wacken for? Long live black/death!
