This is his own composition. One of his great composition actualy. He uses his violin to compose songs juz like how MSV uses harmonium. Lyrics by Kannadhasan. Sung by Madurai Somu.... a very very difficult song to sing. No ordinary singers cud sing this song.... wat a great song :-)

i had the fortune of listening to kunnakudi live for many many years at madurai meenakshi amman temple's navarathri festival (in 1970s and 1980s). he usually plays this piece every year and it always used to be divine and excellent. thanks for posting the video.

That was his own song, from the film 'Deivam' (1971). He had his own style. Even 3 years after his death, he is still remembered as the greatest violinist of his time.
The devotional songs in Deivam are immortal. I love Thiruchendurin Kadalorathil :)

i am not sure whether this info is commented here: KV and Kannadasan had a challenge and KV challenged Kannadasn to write the song as KV played the tune. Kannadasn accepted teh challenge and wrote teh song just as KV played the tune. Two geneius having a ball for us.

I had this issue with God too. Why did He take him away so early? I feel, God probably had given him the chiranjeevi status in heaven. His tenure on earth was probably a break from the skies :-)
I've had the privilege of attending some of his concerts. What a man!!!
The very warmth of his voice and his demeanor some how reminded me of Kanchi Mahaperiyavar "Chandrasekara Saraswathi"
My most admired aasan "The great genius Dr KV" passed away on 9th Sept,2008. His melodious violin in Karnatic music was inestimable and irrevocable to any one who loves violin. I am deeply saddened his death. Why God did not give long life to Dr KV? It was a greatest lost to me and all the violin music lovers. In my perspective, no one ever and ever will be born and replace "The Greatest Genius in Violin".
