I loved ATLA immediately when my kids introduced me to it. Only cartoon they watched I felt at all drawn to. But, yeah, Korra actually meant more to me, personally. Even with the network meddling, they crafted a truly great show filled with endearing, enduring characters. I can’t even pick a favorite.

Another thing that may have made Aang's fights easier is the fact that no one knew how to fight airbenders anymore. One of Aang's toughest fights was against Bumi, who was ancient enough to have real experience. Even in this show, Tenzin does better than most in several fights simply because he's a master of a rare fighting style. You still have a point of Korra facing some crazy opponents though...
I also think that benders from different nations didn't interact much during the 100-year war, so you wouldn't be facing a team made up of all different bending styles and elements at once.
Man, I've never seen such a good reactor to TLOK. You nailed it, dude! You PERFECTELY UNDERSTOOD who the characters are and how the situations are too. You can decipher it when so much struggled to understand simple things in the show. Don't get me wrong, there are other good reactors to Korra but, at the moment, you are the one who was capable of understanding it on a deeper level very quick and so accurate, and you didn't make any mistakes on it, and it's your FIRST TIME you watched it. Cant't say more, it's a perfect viewing with you!
In case you weren't aware. Yes. Bumi is named after Aang's old friend. Tenzin is named after Tenzin Gyatso. The 14 Dalai Lama (as is Aang's mentor Monk Gyatso). And Mako is named after the original voice actor for Uncle Iroh who sadly past away (Hence the dedication in "The Tales of Ba Sing Se")

@The Cocoa Couch. I don't know if you're aware, but Asami's voice actor is Yue from the 2010 ATLA movie. And her father is voiced by Daniel Dae Kim, who is Ozai in the Netflix series.

Asami's dad isn't played by Ozai's VA (Mark Hamill) but rather played by Netflix's live-action Ozai (Daniel Dae Kim) and also played General Fong in ATLA (the one who tried to trigger Aang's Avatar State by burying Katara alive)
"He's all into that prissy beautiful elegant rich girl." That comment is a little suspicious for multiple reasons Korra. In all seriousness, I actually don't mind the love triangle as much as others, purely because the viewers are SUPPOSSED to be uncomfortable & uneasy watching it. Also, they're teenagers. Of course they're not going to make the best decisions.
korra has been sheltered her whole life, it makes sense that she has no idea how to interact with people her age
@@ranniwolves Exactly. Her only interactions for years have been her family, guards who don't let her go anywhere, Katara and Naga. She's naturally going to have no social skills. Combine that with the fact she's likely not had romantic feelings for anyone before that point, of course it won't go smoothly.
I just find it funny because i was in a love pentagon quite similar to theirs in college. Idk it feels real to me (i was the Bolin, in case anyone's wondering 😅)

Yah the biggest difference is bending is A LOT more common in Korra and theres way more fighting. Its a lot faster pace than The Last Airbender for sure.
I think its good and youll like it. It does go into a lot more of the origins of the avatar and it definitely adds to the world building. Its good, and I think you'll like it overall.

Considering how positive you are to this already, I think you're going to love the entire series, even if people say Season 2 is the "weakest"

I like the first and third season, fourth season was okay too, but if only the second season didn't exist😭 so many horrible writing choices, demolishing so many things they set up in ATLA
I love the Legend of Korra more and more each time I watch it, so I’m so excited you’re doing this series. I think you’ll really enjoy all 4 seasons. Even if some aspects are weaker than others, it’s still hugely entertaining and has some great characters and moments.

I find it funny that ppl criticise that there is a love triangle but I agree with u they are young and especially with Korra being isolated she hasn’t been around ppl her age a lot of ppl dont appreciate that , how isolated it must be the only thing she has to excite her is her training and as we say they would not let her go far when she was with naga , also I bet ppl that criticised this also ship katara and zuko together basically forcing a love triangle

The seasons initial plottwist with the coucelor blew my mind but the final plottwist in this season is truly hardcore writing.
They really blew it with that and deserved that following seasons.

The whole love triangle thing drags a bit too long, up until season 3 (I mean, end of season 2), but the way they resolve it is honestly the best way it could've gone.

I personally love how the Equalist politely waited for the Commentator to finish his line, before electrocuting him, I know it was done for comedic effect but I like the little touch of politeness, can make even a bank robbery look chill.

Mark Hamill was the original voice actor for Ozai, who you may recognize as the Joker in the old Batman cartoon and Luke Skywalker in Star Wars films. Daniel Dae Kim is Hiroshi Sato, who I believe is the live action Ozai in the new avatar show.
I love the world ATLA built and love all the characters and the story but TLOK feels more special to me, I love characters with flaws, especially if it is a main character ❤

Legend of Korra is better at inter-personal drama than ATLA was, their team feels more grounded in the way it comes together and how they feel between themselves. the only bit of that we get in ATLA is Katara and Aang and occasionally Suki/Sokka and Mai/Zuko, but nothing that makes you question the outcome of who will end up with whom. additionally, Bolin is my absolute favorite (Aside from two characters who get introduced later)[B-man and V-man] his casual quips remind me of sokka but he is softer and absolutely one of the most genuine characters ive ever seen (even compared to aang imo) i can see alot of myself in Bolin.
I need that Amon wasn't taking any bending away. When Aang did it to Phoenix King Ozai it was a great specticle. I don't think the Lion Turtle would have taught it to anyone but the Avatar.
If bolin would propose to me i would say yes. Also the butler at assami's place is the actual villan of the season.. 🙃

I just looked up who the vice actor was for Fire Lord Ozai and I am surprised it is Mark Hamill, the actor of Luke Skywalker in Star Wars. The voice actor for Hiroshi Sato is Daniel Dae Kim, who also voice General Fong, a earthbender in the Earth Kingdom Army, in The Last Airbender.
29:23 None of the characters have an exact confirmed height but the creators did say that Korra is about 5'7" and Mako is about 6'2" so Asami must be fairly tall by comparison

As someone who hates this love triangle I agree that for teenagers it's pretty realistic, but the writers could've handled it so much better and not destroy team Avatar relationship from the start. All I wanted was to see an interesting progression of an Avatar in a love relationship on screen instead of P.S comics and this is what we got...

You know, once you're done with Korra, if you've never seen it before, you should give She-Ra and the Princesses of Power a shot.
Yeah it's a different take on the She-ra story. This is the 1st reboot of this series.
about you comparing your enjoyment of the different seasons: i just want to give a small "warning" for the second season of LOK, it really goes into a dip a little bit, but comes back all the better in season 3 and 4 - i think that's a good thing to keep in mind
stifling the expectations for season 2 makes it more enjoyable i think

What you have to keep telling yourself throughout this show is that these are all teenagers. The drama and the love triangles and all of it is crazy, but they're teenagers. They do mature a little in that aspect as the seasons go.

There are some clues. They travel fast from point to point, they can carry a lot, and map of continents is small. That means they live on small planet with lower gravitation pull. But that's just a theory...

For me I didnt like the whole love triangle, immeditaley liking someone thing, I like slow burns & building relationships before any inkling of romance, Ive never enjoyed it but i just sorta deal with it & enjoy the rest lol, people gotta remember we're basically dealing with 3 Zuko aged characters now, so basically 'The Beach' lol (the beach is my fave ep of ATLA), teenage drama galore

I love how you recegnize so early on that korras enemies are more powerful than aangs. So many people overlook that and crap on korra because of it. So many people have gotten frustrated at korra for losing her 1st encounter with those CHI BLOCKERS WITH WEAPONS. As if a chi blocker without weapons wasnt a major problem for the Aang gang

I am having so much freaking fun watching you experience TLOK for the first time. I never truly watched ATLA until 2020 and ever since I’ve been absolutely in love with these series. Seeing you watch it for the first time reminds me of my first time. I wish these videos came out more than once a week 😭

Are you a big book person? I feel like if you can appreciate the way the world changes and advances through time I think you might really like Brandon Sanderson and his cosmere books. Each series has its own story and takes place in different plantiary systems with an underlying storyline of the bigger picture and how they might all connect and interact as time moves forward. Just a suggestion for your own personal enjoyment

Also, the show runners were just renewed for a new season after the previous. Meaning each season of Korra were to be treated as a one and done.
We got a season two only because season one did well. Halfway through season two, they got green lit for season three. Season three was really amazing, unfortunately because of the terrible season two they were placed on their streaming site, exclusively 3/4 of the way. Season four didn't get air time and was confined to streaming.
The ending is going to be explosive!
Bolin and Ikki's little interaction is a good example of when both people involved in the conversation are ADHDers lol.
