- Flown with Foxeer Aura7 and Aura 10 (Aura 7 in the beginning, then labeled comparison flights) using the same Gp11 mini with same settings (Hypersmooth, 8:7 5.3k30 and ND16 Filter). Aura 10 is still cursed with some bad jello - but I guess most 10" drones are (even the iFlight Helion). Wanted the Helion for review - but iFlight didn't wanna send me one ;)
What's your experience? Anyone flying 10" copters for mid/longrange mountain flights? Did you see a massive benefit compared to 7" drones? I'm not convinced yet (maybe it's really just the better wind-resistance?

That's a difficult choice... The only advantage of a 10" that I can see is that it can carry a much bigger battery. But other than that I have no clue! 😬

10 inch has enough disk area to not let its flight performance be degraded as much by additional weight, like CNC folding hinges, heavy batteries, heavy cameras on gimbals, more powerful transmission antennas with their own folding hinges etc......RN its the parts that aren't keeping up with the new form factor and that will change in the future.
I think 10 inchers CAN be straight up better than 8 inch contra-bladed cinelifters with the proper parts; with alloy folding hinges and more extensive internal damping and EMI shielding, it can break real barriers in long range flying, unfortunately manufacturers are still designing 10 inchers with 7 inchers in mind, they don't want to bare risks.
Perhaps you could consider the quickness of the distance covered between them to see. I suspect the 10 covers more distance in a shorter time than the 7 can not to mention the added weight may handle wind better giving more levels video also instead of having to roll into wind to hold your intended line

man that was a great vibe, not sure about the 10 v 7 inch, i think you really need that pop to get out of trouble, and therefore be willing to risk some trouble. maybe you should try to freestyle them both and see what makes you feel able to take some risks. has anybody made a vid on the crossover to goggles 2? i'm not sure i want to use the 03 unit with my v2's, not sure if it means compromising whats good about the vistas.

haha, I think I fly at the same mountains most times ;) this one here is the best one for me, only 15mins to drive to, road up until the starting point - very accessible - and the friendly farmers that live there allowed me and my buddies to fly there! greets Oncle!

I also can`t decide. So maybe i will go with 8". But due to the chinese Drone ban they are harder to get ricght now
got some new HQ Props now on the 10" Aura - will test if they are better than the cheap Dalpro T1050. But I'm also not sure if my tune is causing vibrations.
Are you able to carry more batteries on the 10? I'm still undecided between my 6 and 7inch, the gain is really minimal, unless you load it up with more battery.... My 6inch has pretty much the same flight time with the same battery as my 7inch, can cover the same distance, same cruising speed etc etc. The only difference is the 6inch carries the go2, the 7inch carries a osmo action 4 lol
There's a lot of room for batteries up there as well as the lifting power... but as you say, if you don't need the bigger cam... in the Aura 7 I mostly fly with o3 and the quality is good most times. This makes it really lightweight...
Owning both 10 and 7 inches quad frames I can say that the 10 inches only has drawbacks. Harder to tune but also produces vibrations more easily than a 7 inches, especially during long dives. Not saying you should not buy a 10-inch drone frame but it has no real benefit from my experience.
Hope my aura 10" doesn't have the shakes. My 8" does l. More noticeable higher throttle with different battery weights. My 8" has tiny motors. Think lightweight biblades help but i broke my last set lol
10" Should be an improvement in handling the wind. Also id think it cover more ground in same flights. Like my 7/8" might fly same time as my 5" but it covers more ground.. can go faster without costing as much flight time.
I think the 7inchers are the best overall longrangers. 10inch are great as you say for high winds in the mountains. Make sure to also check out nd filters to fight jello…
10" has dobble the disc are of 7". The portability of a 10" is no good. One thing to consider is, that we are limited to 6S on even on 10".
I doubt you will get noticably more thrust on a 10" on 6S compared to a 7".
There are 8s ESCs and batteries...
