As an Irish person, I can confirm the most inappropriate behaviour came from our end. They literally placed this thing in junkie central. Baffling decision-making. But it sheds a light on how the Irish political class and civil servants who approved this project are out of touch with how bad the city centre has fallen to substance abuse and homelessness. There's tents and open drug use everywhere and these idiots in power are obsessed with cycle lanes and nonsense projects like this. Nothing is been done about the actual problems in the city.
As an Irish person I have to say it was put in the worst place possible. Everyone here knows O'Connell street is a kip. It should have been placed in College Green near Trinity if it was to be placed in Dublin city. At least there is a nice place.
No govt money was used to erect this. A wealthy Lithuanian paid the costs. I assumed they would have put it on or near Grafton St. That seems the most similar to Times Square, imho.

I think one of the problems with the experiment is where in Dublin they placed it. As a Dubliner, I can tell you that it's not in a particular good area and a far better location could have been chosen

I’m from Dublin and I can tell when Dubliners heard where the portal was being set up we knew this would happen. They put it in the most anti social drug, invested, night life, low life, drunken run down area in the city centre. Apologies for the behaviour of the revellers but it was NOT placed in an area that better represents irelands virtues.
AND yanks are super prudish with a very different sense of humour.

He was most horrified how the mom had no problem letting her 8 year old son watch Chucky and other slasher films but anytime nude boobs came on TV the mom even covered the kid's eyes or fast forwarded it.

I don't live in the city but there is a lot of crazy people that live all over the state.. however they are still a minority and just because they are called members and make themselves loud does not mean there are more of them. We are just grown adults that have respect for other people and know how to act in public. So basically kids are loud and stupid just like uneducated white men that wear red dunce caps and think that that somehow makes them "strong educated Patriots".. regardless if they would always shoot before using their hands, barely made it through high school, can't do simple math in their heads, rarely use words over three syllables, and think that anti-American sentiment, hating your president (regardless I didn't vote for Trump and thought he was a bad pic I still wanted him to be a good president and not be 100x worse than anybody could have possibly imagined, the same way that Biden has been 10 times better than we hoped for- is somehow good for America. 🤯🤷🏼♂️
There's more of us we can only try to educate people that are open to it and anybody that's not already brainwashed completely can be taught if they are willing to be. All we can do is teach them and make sure you bring at least one friend to vote with you even if you don't vote in the same place just to make sure they go.

I am reminded of the Splash Mountain ride in the various Disney parks. There’s a camera in front of the big waterfall, so that you can buy framed souvenir pictures. They take a picture of each car, which is four people. Every once in a while, someone will flash her boobs to the camera. Or, a guy in the rear seats will reach forward and raise the shirt of a woman in the front seat. Disney, being a family-themed park, simply discards those images. If there were others in your car, they got to cut to the front of the line, so they can ride it again to get rated-G pictures.
