- Hey friends! I've been having some art block lately, and I haven't managed to come up with anything I've liked. When I'm in these ruts, I try to do some still life, gesture drawing, or studies to get back into the groove. I don't love how this spread came out, but I'm happy that I dedicated time to push through. Let me know your thoughts!

For those wondering, I think the pencil she’s using is the BIC Xtra-smooth Clear Barrel Mechanical Pencil.
Me thinking it's a really fancy pencil: Me realizing it's an ordinary mechanical pencil (after searching it up...)
It might be something about the graphite they're using or the lighting?? Not sure.
@@inkiiara7510 Yeah me too! I won't lie, I laughed a little when I found out it was a BIC pencil. I'm guessing the moleskine paper probably has some sort of effect too. If I manage to get my hands on one of these pencils, I'll post an update. They seem way too good to be true xD
@@inkiiara7510 I think it’s just skill/practice, she retains this same skill no matter what medium she has
It could possibly be a darker graphite, like a 2b, but that would only affect the values and smudging
It's not the pencil that matters, it's the lead. This definitely looks darker than the lead you get typically in mechanical pencils which is an HB, same as #2 school pencils. This looks closer to a 4B graphite to me and in my experience is the most commonly used with artists and can be found at most art supply stores. It's clear that looks different that's why everyone is asking what she's using. It's because it has a wider value range and is almost black at it's darkest which adds contrast therefore more pleasing to the eye. You cannot get that with a #2 lead which is what the BIC comes with. So in my opinion, she put in a softer lead.

The weird angle of the camera position made it hard to see so I really couldn’t appreciate the great art being done.

It’s your standard bic lead pencil, though it looks like the tip has been snapped/cut off, though that makes the lead break easier

Yeah that's a Bic mechanical pencil.
It looks to me like she replaced the HB/#2 lead that comes in the BIC with a softer lead like a 4B.

I worked as. A freelance artist for quite some time, I am just going to tell you that often you must draw and create with little to no true inspiration! I think you created quite a few lovely little pieces that could someday turn into something else with just a little more effort and creating videos is no easy thing yet, you have a wonderful example and gorgeous content for others to enjoy, I think it’s a wonderful success! I believe that you are an amazing artist and you will succeed as long as you want to! I sometimes reverted to a picture from my youth, trying to draw a mountain lake. I have been back to the lake many times as an adult but I have never seen the lake of my youth! I still draw or paint it on occasion but it remains only in my memory impossible to re-create, yet I gotta try and will continue to create mountain lake pictures as long as I can. I hope you continue to create your own art and share your art journey with us viewers as long as you enjoy doing so. Thank you Sara, I hope you have a lovely day.

The pencil is a regular bic mechanical pencil, some other commenters have the actual name but I’ve got about 5 of these laying around my room

Where do you get mole skin sketch books?
you can purchase them online. Just a heads up, the one that Sara is using looks like the plain journal that's mainly used for note-taking, not that great for anything beyond a simple sketch in pencil or pen - in my experience. Obviously it depends on what your intentions are, but moleskine do make actual sketchbooks that have thicker paper intended for taking on more mediums.

hey have you checked out Odysee? It's an alternative to CZcams and I believe when more people switch or post cross platform (you can synch your channel) we can force CZcams to change their behaviour or create and support a better platform.
