nah its really not that op to deal with, as long as you angle right and counter shoot his cupolas they arent that hard to beat unless a 9-10k pr player+ is running it and knows how it plays well
279e was actually buffed the patch after it came out because it had a lower plate thing people hated. (It was super small)

if a 279e is facing you head on its right shoulder (left to you) is where the ammo rack is. if he angles to his left put rounds on that triangle plate right above the cable shackle and you'll rack it every time.

Shot 2 of them with heat shells in a Foch 155 can confirm that I definitely say that 2/2 shots in that spot ammo racked it
@@nicolarighetto3767 no it's an easy pen because the most effective armor at that is 280mm-290mm of armor (with an advantage of being angeled), but the middle of the ufp can still be penned with anything above 329mm of pen. I have the 279 (e) and do comp clan war battles so I have to learn every weak spot. You just need to aim better no offense lol.

@@test_nametest_surname1794 like I said, I play this game comp in top 20 best clan.... since you have not noticed, the obj 279 is a short tank compared to others, so less of an angle against tanks, of course distance can fix that but nobody will snipe in obj 279, so armor is not as effective.
Watching QB’s commentary while playing this tank gives me “why he doesn’t play low tiers” vibes, he looks like he feels like he’s seal clubbing but in a tier 10

@@freddiet8639 and yet he lost 75% of his HP and let himself get flanked and he got caught in ground where his armor isn't as effective. You never let anything get on your sides in the 279e and you never fight where you are not at level ground or someone is looking down on you. Quickybaby probably would have done 10k damage if he didn't throw away almost all his HP in the first five minutes

My only 10k was also in the 279e, on this map, but in the other spawn. Literally held the western flank all by myself by sitting in C3/D3 which offers you high ground over the enemies coming in

I am amazed that the enemy arty didn't shoot at QB even once during the 5 minutes he spent in the open. Usually these tanks get focused super hard.

Thanks QB. I totally support your opinion that WG should start to act and balance tanks like the 279 for the sake of the game.
It's too late. NA server is pretty much dead. Tier 8 and up matches are pretty much half of every team driving OP premium tanks shooting gold ammo. Pretty hard to even xp tech tree tanks, so I dont even bother trying anymore. Playing since '11, barely play 2 matches a month now. Mostly just to remind myself why I dont bother to play anymore
What WG needs to do is take the 279E and switch its model with the actual version 279. Would have a lower plate(ish) but would have weakspots. would be harder to deal with from the side but it would not be as overpowered. (want to see the model im talking about look at the model in Warthunder)
I loved it when I found out my Chinese tier 10 TD's gold rounds could go through a 279e hull like hot knife through butter. Shot one 279e twice and penned both rounds. He retreated so fast. LOL
All gold goes through so your not skilled or anything because of that
@@jensfalk7973 I wish that was the case. But some tier 10s have ~310-320 pen with gold and it will bounce off a 279e easy. do your research.

Was looking at T-55 A in wiki wargaming earlier today. The battle tiers listed for it were 9, 10 and 11. I laughed at it being a mistake, but then thought of how the 279e and Chieftain belong in tier 11. Please make it happen WG. Make more reward tanks like the 279e and Chieftain and put them in tier 11. Allow tier 10 to be fun again while making a tier that is challenging and fun for players that are allegedly the best by making a reward tank only tier.

Qb the best place to aim for is the headlight on this tank aslong as you have 150mm gun it penertrates with AP rounds

Just at the same day I penned a full mag into a 279e cupola with the tier 8 tech tree Italian td. That felt GOOOOOOD! XD

WG should just make the protrusion that comes out of the bottom of the hull which holds the tracks/suspension a damage able hit box. It makes little sense that that large section of the hull is not damage able.
The 279e can be very comfortably compared to the IS-4, and really there's no fair comparison to be had there, pretty much every advantage goes to the 279e.

Over 8 years and I still don't have this tank.
There is actually a weak point esque spot under where the gun comes of the turret. It’s not even that hard to hit it.
That's what I say evertime I have to play against it. I worked hard for my WFE100 and they took it away because they said it was too OP.
In this map, I loaded gold shells on my E4 against this tank, yet, they bounced off their hull. LOL
Been a few years since I've played this game but one thing hasn't changed lmao still need some APFSDS to deal with the 279
without the 279e all the buffing companies would be out of business
It and the Chieftain have kept me from playing tens for years. It’s simply not fun. I have no clan wars rewards tanks. Hard to fight in them unless you have those two. I played a few as a Smurf for a friends clan a few months ago. Every game was those two tanks vs a starting clan. Guess how many battles they won running tech tree tanks vs those clans. None. They weren’t bad players either
Yep, I quit going above tier 7 anymore because of them unless it's my type 59 or something with preferred mm

@@vardico5451 because not all.of us are good enough to complete the missions, im a 52%er and just now unlocked the 260. Ive been playing since 2015 if that tells you anything.

Strv is actually not a bad tank to counter 279e , i can pen it frontally without premium rounds at a decent range
QB, they will only nerf the Obj 279e when I am about a week away from obtaining one. That's what happened with the DeathStar, WT Auf E100 and Kranvagn. FML.

My personal damage record is like 9990 or so, in the S.Conq, with a last second decap, and a whole 3 shells left in my ammorack when I died, and my platoonmate pulled it back together. Second is 9891 in the STB-1, on Tundra of all maps. Both of them, while undoubtably strong, are not as broken as the 279Error or the Chieftard.
Another thing to add, is that Wargaming will never nerf reward tanks. Likely odds are, they already know how unhealthy the 279E and the Chieftain, due to it likely pissing off their biggest customers, who have all the premium tanks, years upon years of premium time, endless supplies of gold, and probably also a massive, crippling debt.
By saying "biggest customers" I guess you are referring to "unicums". I'll tell you what. It makes no sense to think that the top 5% of the playerbase if what WG thinks about because they are the customers, when the reality is that the most money comes from the tomato section where there is a lot of older people with money willing to buy whatever WG throws at them.
On the other hand, I can assure you as part of the 1% of the playerbase (I'm a Tilt member) that most competitive and top players want a chieftain nerf. The meta in clan wars have became quite stale and we top players are bored about it as well.

Honestly, while this tank is as toxic as you describe, I quite rarely encounter one, which makes it not the biggest problem. Things like wheeled vehicles, the ELC or the Bourrasque on the other hand are in pretty much every game and they deserve some nerfs as well. Doesn't mean this thing shouldn't be nerfed though.
When I encounter one of these, they mostly play extremely aggressive, so I load HE, permatrack them and let my team farm it. I have quite a good laugh every time :D
279e is not OP at all.....elc even 90 is very OP.... able to out spot all tier ten lights with ease at tier 8....the wheelies are no longer a issue.. if you have issues with them.. then you are not a good or average player. Hell i run them down with my leo1 with ease... wargaming nerfed them so hard that they can't take many hits.. elc has a better survival rate now.
Honestly the bourasque turns like a freight train and the gun handling is ass. It isn't really OP at all. Wheeled vehicles and elc even 90 on the other hand...fuck those things

Those stupid cars are op as fk. More than 2/3 of them are wheels you cant penetrate even though they should offer no protection at all,fast&agile as fuck and a too strong gun. Same goes to the tier 8+ French medium tanks

A few years back, when I tried to get back to the game, I found these abominations and clown cars every match. I uninstalled again and never looked back.
I think chief is most brutal than 279 e , in a tier x match most will pen u without aim with heat ammo

I'm a 54% player and I don't have one after a 40k battles. Tbf I'm not trying to do the missions that hard but yeah. Whole lot of mouth breathing cheats out there.
It was shown not so long ago, some clan's litterally offer their 'service' to complete the missions for you if you fork over some 600 quid.

First time I ever saw this tank in a match it was against 3 of them. I was tier 8 we still managed to destroy all of them in less than 3 minutes into the match idk how but yea lol
Games like this almost never happen, normally alone on a flank you would just get rushed and encircled if the enemies where somewhat competent. Still, a great result!

Not having a lower plate is fine but it needs more weak spots elsewhere. If it had a bigger cupola and a machine gun port on the front upper plate and it also has WAY too good of gun handling for a russian heavy.

Unbelievable how you could just rip through half the team by yourself.
It should be a superheavy class in WoT, and should be new MM rules for the amounts of this class on each team to be equal. It's a fact that whenever is a team having a 279(e) (or T95/Chieftain or a superheavy Maus/Type5) and the other doesn't, it's a 100% win. Whenever that happens this team has a huge advantage because while the other team struggles to focus and take out that single one OP HP-pool of a tank, the rest of the advantaged team has the time to easily slaughter them.
The MM rules about EBRs worked great, time for a real update on balance.

I do like playing heavy tanks, but its this one and to a lesser extent the chief which really pushes me to play TDs instead (and play them like heavies). I love my 5A but I can feel the 5A players frustration from the very start of the battle when they noticed they are matched against this joke.
Some of the 279e players are clearly using paid for accounts, but as soon as someone knows how to use this tank it effectively adds 2-3 tanks to the team.
The more I see the 279e, the more I pray for wg to bring the japanese tds from wot blitz to the game

well, there are not just the best players playing this tank. there are also players paying boosting companies to get them the damn tanks by rigging games.
funny thing: every time I got a 279e in my team I lose the game with the 279e done 1-2 shots of damage... and when I look into the profile statistics of these players I see about 4-6k personal rating... I guess some people pay others to get them this tank...
I've drastically cut down my high tier play partially on account of these over powered reward tanks in the game.
I mean this tank was literally designed to survive nuclear explosions...

what mr quackybaby didnt mention, this tank is the ultimate reward for doing ALL fucking missions in game - this tank is only amongst under 1% of playerbase, it is ultra rare and hard to get with lots and lots of time to invest. this have to be a good reward for players willing to sacrifice that much of their life to get it!

I suck, but I saw a guy with worse stats than me in a 279e on my team die within the first 5 min and do less damage than I did in Centurian AX in battle.
