Hi Weylie! Love your videos. I am a Registered Veterinary Technician and we do a lot of dental procedures at my clinic. I would definitely recommend you asking for pre-anesthetic bloodwork to ensure her organ functions are good for anesthesia/drugs that will be given during the procedure. Ask about staff that will be working with Michi during the procedure; at my clinic we have a designated anesthesia technician that focuses on monitoring anesthesia and doctor/tech that does the probing, cleaning, extractions, etc. Some places the tech/dr will be doing both dental and monitoring, which is not ideal in any case but definitely since Michi is a bit older and the person doing the dental may not notice trends that can lead to complications. Please push for full mouth dental x-rays because even though you only see those chipped teeth, there could be disease on other teeth that is only visible by x-rays. Ask for pain control before and after the dental because extractions will definitely be painful. Also, if they have a limit of anesthetic time - we limit to 3hrs of anesthesia because we know that the longer the procedure, the higher the chance there could be complications. Please let me know if you have any other questions/concerns you would like advice on for this.

@@WahlieTV Wish you guys and Michi the best of luck! Also forgot to mention, there are veterinary dentists out there and that is their specialty. It is definitely pricier than having the procedure done at a general practice, but if it's in your budget, it may be beneficial since the canine tooth, often times, would be a big/surgical extraction.

Your comment about your grandpa hit close to home. My grandparents were both diagnosed with COVID-19, and just recently returned home from the hospital. They’re not completely healed yet, but getting better every day!

ER Veterinary Technician here. I know it's always scary to have a pet go under anesthesia but it's important to remember that age is not a disease. Some pre anesthetic blood work and health screening is definitely warranted for senior dogs. It is this allows us to see if there are any underlying issues that we need to be prepared for. Anesthesia not one size fits all and each protocol is tailored specifically to each patient. Dental care is super important. Dogs instinctually guard their pain, especially when it comes to dental disease. Often once we get a patient under anesthesia and probe problem teeth we will often see the patient chatter their teeth as a pain response. Be honest with you veterinary team about your concerns and worried about the your team should be able and willing to explain every step of the process and answer any questions to help ease your anxieties. Ya'll are amazing pet parents. Thank you for always doing the best by your pets and advocating for them. Your babies are so lucky to have you guys.

I’d love to see a garden tour video too. I was digging through their other videos, trying to find clues of the name and brand of their tumbler compost bin and found it on Amazon for about $88. We use it almost everyday and it’s really therapeutic just spinning it 😂

Hey Weylie! I’m a final year vet student (not quite a professional yet). I think youre doing the right thing with taking the teeth out but you can ask for a pre anaesthetic blood test to screen for potential problems that could complicate an anaesthetic. Stay positive and all the best ❤️❤️

I’m so happy you have a strong relationship with your grandparents. Unfortunately for me, both my paternal and maternal grandparents passed away before I was born. But I’ve managed to have grandparent like people in my life and they’ve taught me so much and I felt so much love from them.

Hi Weylie! I work as a vet tech currently. Definitely do pre-op blood work. With older pets you want to do a full panel. I would also recommend asking for chest x-rays to make sure Michi has a healthy heart (this is more common for older pets and those with heart murmurs). Even if she may not have one it's always good to see the condition of what her heart is at. Full mouth dental x-rays are essential and if Michi is on any medications or supplements, be sure to inform your vet (as well as any past health issues because this may affect drug choices/protocols). Post-op care typically consists of soft food for 2 weeks to let suture sights heal and pain meds/anti-inflammatory for the first few days - 1 week if needed!

Hi Weylie. I too get mosquito bites all over my body during the summer every year....which is so annoying. I bought this Pest Control Ultrasonic Eco-Friendly Repellent plug in from Amazon by Ever Pest. It comes with two plug in for $26.89. I put on of them in my room and the other in the living room and 1 million percent recommend. After using it for about a week I noticed I did not get bit anymore and usually during the summer we get little flies around our home and they seem to all have disappeared. You need this product ASAP.

I can't find the email to send suggestions to anymore but please try Boba Express in Temple City!! It's a cute mom and pop boba shop that I used to always go to back in high school. I still try to go as often as possible these days especially because their drinks are surprisingly cheap and high quality! Two large boba milk teas are ~$8 total and they use real tea leaves. The main owner Brenda is super sweet and even let me use her phone once to call home when I locked myself out of my car. 😭

Just an advice that I saw on another CZcamsr’s channel (Stephanie soo’s vlog) one humidifier isn’t actually enough bc it’s only effective in a certain amount of space. You would need multiple ones to put around the house for it to properly work!

I'm no professional but my dog Ted is very old and is losing teeth. They're falling apart in shards and he he was even trying to paw one out and started to bleed. I called everyone I thought might know anything and they all said to just let them fall out and give him soft food. Anything can happen if you put her under.. much love and many blessings! I’m in the dental field and typically for a broken tooth where the root is exposed, IF the tooth is still able to be saved, a “ROOT CANAL POST BUILD UP CROWN” would be the proper diagnosis/treatment. I have seen dogs who get root canals and crowns before. I would consider crowning her teeth if you guys want to protect her teeth from breaking any more. But don’t quote me on that, I am familiar with dental work for humans, not animals. Hope this helps and give you some ideas for your pup.
