No I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. I THINK PSA and SGC stopped because they thought they would miss counterfeits. There are a lot of people that can easily spot them... I’m not one of them

Awesome; my cards from the 60s and 70s were long ago thrown out; started up again as an adult in 1982; went to a card show in New York, and this one seller, Alan Rosen, known as "Mr. Mint" had a few mint Goudey Ruth and Gehrig cards; how much, I said; 300 was his answer on the Ruth, forget the price on Gehrig. Nah, that's too rich for my blood, I told him! Could have retired on them!

Cool collection! I have a 1928 Fro Joy Ruth (#6 Ruth is a crack fielder). I’ve tried getting it graded from PSA & SGC, but of course, like you said - they no longer grade them. I bought from a very reputable seller, who stands by his sale. I need the card graded for one of my set registries, which sucks. So I am thinking about trading it back to the seller for a different card😕

@@VictoryInvestments Thank you Bro, me too. If you believe it, I bought that Leaf for $250 raw on eBay in 2002-03. I was 16-17 years old, a bus-boy/dishwasher at IHOP and saved money making $5.25/hr. (Image how long it took me to make that $ back then lol) Then Graded it in 2019. It's one of about 10 cards that I bought as a dumb fat kid making pennies...a reminder of how ahead of the game I was. Fell in love with vintage at age 15. (Have you read my last post on IG? It has the story) The post with the 33 Goudey.

I also collect Ruth cards and memorabilia. Very nice collection and beautiful Goudey Ruth. I have to say however that I’ve never seen that notebook before, so I think it’s very rare! I have 3-4 Ruth notebooks myself but not that one. Pls sell it to me. 😂😂

Glad you're a fellow Ruth collector! Wanna know something crazy? In all these years of collecting Ruth items, I have only seen 2 of those notebooks ( so I bought them both! )
I was not actively trying to sell it but I could make an exception if you REALLY want it. I could do 1,500 for it. The image is beautiful but it's in terrible condition. Lots of wear, tears, small holes, looks like it survived a fire and other wear all around. But still displays beautifully after 100+ years and likely to never see another one.

Nice collection. Fro Joy definitely bad news. When grading companies stay away you know it's bad news. I think they were counterfeited for so long people can't remember what's real anymore. Or there are so few real ones out there.
