    Love me some Antique Roadshow, this is one of those shows that about 3-4 generations of my family all sit around watching it at random times on PBS. I agree he is a little low on a few of these, they probably could go for more. But the one thing we all know about selling and buying, is retail price. Very rarely will you actually get full market retail price for anything much less sports cards. In other words, like Pawn Stars, the buyer/seller has to make money also, so they won't give you $12,000 for a card worth $12,000. Plus these are ungraded so the appraiser is only speculating what they would be worth if graded. Grading is in the eye of the beholder, meaning one graders 6 might be a 4 or an 8, obviously the 4 worth less the 8 worth more. Regardless thank you very much for posting this I enjoy all of the "sports" and comic book related items that show up on Antiques Road Show. Happy Collecting!

      @MRUOUIOENSL Před 2 lety

      @Myles Garrett I agree bowman should be more valuable, but the 52 topps mantle is his first topps card not his topps rookie card, he did not have a 51 topps card, you can only have one rookie card season and for the Mick it’s 1951. As an example you could say Stan Musial’s topps rookie card was the 58 all-star card but no one would say it’s his topps rookie card it’s just his topps first card. I know it’s semantics and you might say splitting hairs but it’s fun to share my own opinions, have a great day.

    Given this important fact, the 1951 Bowman card stands as the only true rookie card. Some claim that because 1952 was the year Topps produced a flagship set 9 and it's Mantle's First Topps Card (FTC) that somehow this translates to it being a rookie card.
    Because it was his first Topps card, it is referred to as a "Rookie" card without it being his rookie card.

      Dont care what you want to call it , what those of us in the card game that know whats up call it "the holy grail" of cards period and true rookie card or not that is his most valuable card by far and is "the card" that sets the valuation scale for "ALL CARDS" regardless of sport or et. all . So call it what you want but that cards reputation preceeds any appearance it could make.

I wish I had been collecting before 2019, based on what I did with Nolan Ryan RC's I would loved to have dominated signed RC's for DiMaggio, Williams, Bird/Magic, Mantle, Mays, Aaron, Banks; only one I came close to in baseball was Aaron I almost bought a trimmed RC before his last signing (finally got a Bird/Magic RC, but Magic's signing fee rose from $30 in 2017 to $1000 for RC's in 2022; hope that drops back a bit.)
