    The HSD changed my life. So worth the money.

    Yup, another happy HSD owner here. Almost 3 years now.
    A few things to mention: If you live in a city and are taking the bike into your building/ apartment, check the elevator size. Particularly the GSD is longer, and you need to be sure it fits elevator and any lobby doorways. Our HSD has no problems in this, thankfully.
    Also to add: they can get heavy when loaded up, and I don't mean you & your kids sitting on there, I mean with all the racks and seats and batteries... you're talking about a pretty heavy bike. If you need to navigate steps when storing/retrieving your machine, just be fully aware of this.
    Otherwise completely agree with others here - they are wonderful liberating machines, and built to quality with top line components. A critical thing is to be sure you are safe and have good components, esp quality hydraulic brakes. That's the problem with a lot of the cheaper online direct ones - poor components. Don't put yourself & family in danger by choosing a cut price bike!

    This is singularly the best video from a bike brand that I have ever seen. Thank you, 100% perfect, THANK YOU. I’m going to be pitching my wife to buy one (probably the HSD). Would love to see if the HSD comes with an Enviolo 380 and a gates belt. That would be a killer combo. Heading to your website now. All that’s left is the convince an otherwise skeptical Bride!!!!!

    Arleigh...a very thorough and complete review of the Tern line-up. Two years ago, I purchased my first e-bike; a Tern Vektron Q9. At that time, a priority was its complete folding feature as I envisioned perhaps getting a second for my wife....some months later, it was evident she was not interested in bike riding so.... I traded up to the HSD S8i but cargo/people carrying was not the reason for the change. While the Vektron certainly does fold compactly, at better than 50 lbs, a "dead lift" into the back of our vehicle was still a bit of a struggle. I'd call the Vektron's handling a bit more "sporty" than the HSD but I've come to value the smoother ride of the HSD with its suspended front fork...more of a "cruiser" than the nimbleness experienced with the Vektron. The other critical decision point for me with the S8i was the belt drive for it's near maintenance free/grease free operation and quiet ride. The frame lock was a nice feature too for short stops as is the twist handle grip shifting mechanism. As you mention, NOTHING substitutes for thorough test rides but these were the features that caused me to finally choose the HSD S8i as being best for me...and my local Tern dealer is excellent (see Chris at Iowa Bike Shop in Pella)

    Have a Vektron S10 and very happy with it. But would love to see an upgraded version with a frame lock, automatic electronic shifting and a belt drive.

    I've been thinking about a Vectron for travel, however consider a throttle an essential safety feature. My daily driver has one and while I don't use it often, when I do use it, it's critical for quickly getting around traffic, intersections, or getting going quickly when you stop in the wrong gear. I realize that causes some regulatory issues, but you could easily have it as an option, or be able to disable it in software. Please, please add an option for a throttle to the Vectron. Thanks.

    Nice video, now I just need to find a dealer who supports and sells the range of accessories, there is a big list of dealers in uk but when you call they have given up or only keep little or no stock. Its no good producing all this stuff if no one sells it.

    I wish Tern would design a more affordable "E" Cargo bike I know you guys have the Quick haul D8 that goes for about $2,999 USD. While I realize this price is pretty competitive in regards to the components offered on the bike it's still out of reach in regards to affordability for many people. So I would challenge you guys to create a less expensive option in the E cargo bike space. This can be done by offering more budget friendly components on the bike such as a hub motor to replace the expensive Bosch mid drive systems offered on your more premium models. You guys design fantastic bikes why not challenge yourselves to create a solid more affordable E Cargo option more people and families can get into? I know it's not exactly easy to do so but you already have other companies such as Aventon offering a fully loaded E cargo bike "The Aventon Abound" for $2100. Sure it doesn't have some of the bells and Whistles or the quality in regards to components but it is still a very solid option that more people can afford.

    • @ternbicycles
      @ternbicycles  Před rokem +5

      Hi Brent, thanks for the wonderful thoughts. Rest assured, we are always striving to work on that formula of price/quality/safety. We wholeheartedly believe we hit that sweet spot just this year with the Quick Haul. It was no easy task, and we can proudly say there are few competitors that have come close to matching the quality at that price. Safety issues are where we really won't compromise as a lot of families & friends depend on us delivering a safe bike. As you can imaging UL2849 certification for the e-system, industry leading EFBE Frame Testing, long lasting componentry, hydraulic disc brakes, etc. all add up but we feel are absolutely necessary for a ride you can depend on for thousands of miles.
