    Excellent tutorial! We are researching the purchase of a cylinder machine. Do you have any recommendations for brands or sellers? Thanks for any feedback you can provide.

    Great video! May I ask you what are your thoughts on a post bed sewing machine with a pressure rolling foot for sewing patches on hats? My researching online and speaking to a local sewing machine distributor has lead me to the post bed machines for patches. But now after watching your technique on the cylinder arm I questioning my options.
    Either way, really informative video. I appreciate you taking the time and putting it out there.

      The post machine is a lighter weight machine and doesn't do as well. The walking foot is very beneficial for keeping your stitch length consistent.

      @@AldensSchoolofLeatherTrades you still feel this way? my business is starting to boom and i have to pay a leather company 5 dollars a hat to stitch my patches for me. Would the cobra 26 be better than a techsew 810? Also which model is this? when you go to the link it has cobra 26 class, then cobra class plus work platform, cobra class drop down or cobra class with all 3 of them? i just need to do leather patches on some richardson caps. Thanks

      @@stephaniemartinez745 the class 26 is still the machine I would recommend for doing leather hat patches. You don't need the work platform or dropdown guide options if your only doing patches. If you would like more information email me at aldenleatherllc@gmail.com

    I saw your video and bought the same machine it works great but the foot presser leaves a mark on the patch and I can't get rid of them do you have any tips on how to get rid of the foot press marks?

    • @braulioneira
      @braulioneira Před 2 lety +1

      i had the same problem. I adjusted the presser foot pressure to the lightest possible setting and also sanded and beveled the edges of my presser foot with very fine grit sand paper. This almost removed 100% of all the marks i would normally leave behind.

    I have a Cobra Class 26 as well, but can't get it to go as slowly as you did. What setting needs to be adjusted on the servo motor to get it slower? Any help would be appreciated.

      @AldensSchoolofLeatherTrades  Před 3 lety +2

      Hey there. If you hold the down button for about 10 seconds or until 5.0 (its actually S.0) shows up. Then press up until you get to 5.3 then press down to open that setting. Once you have opened that setting you can press up or down to the speed of your choice.

    My questuion is, wouldn't it be easier with a shoe patcher machine so you aren't turning the hat to change directions?

  • @tshaulis
    @tshaulis Před 3 lety

    What is your needle and thread set up? I'm using a 22 needle with dia point and 135 thread. But when I go to back stitch or go back over an existing stitch it binds up. It could be my thread size I'm thinking. It seems like there's not enough space in an existing hole for multiple threads.

    • @AldensSchoolofLeatherTrades
      @AldensSchoolofLeatherTrades  Před 3 lety

      I am using the same and don't have any issues. Are you using the reverse lever or manually back stitching?

    • @tshaulis
      @tshaulis Před 3 lety

      @@AldensSchoolofLeatherTrades i have switched to using a smaller needle. The 135×16 LR and manually back stitch now. I tried to back stitch with my reverse bar but I don't think its calibrated correctly. Its either too short of a back stitch or I'm not engaging it at the right time. What thread are you using?
