    Hi everyone, just to let you know the distortion you see on this video starting at 8:55 is deliberate. Initially I did a screen shot and so you'll notice the video player stream going accross, so I place the real video over the player. Any distortion except the Green line at 8:55 was done by me. I was trying to add effect. I totally recommend this converter. You'll love it.

Thanks for this Tommy and thanks again for saving me money for the GoPro mic adapters. I broke down and had to buy the GoPro adapter, but I almost bought a few of those amazon ones. How do these devices react to macrovision? Some devices distort the video and some don't even record and some simply ignore it and record fine.
    The reason that you have noise in your audio is because you are using an adapter that uses 1 video and two audio channels and some camcorders have one audio and one video so the extra connection on the adapter is probably not in the right spot and touching the video connection so you may have to use a different cord a standard Y adaptor cord for hooking an audio device to a stereo will work. You'll have to figure out which connection is video.

    Your camera doesn't have any faults, it's the cable your using. That hiss isn't a hiss, it's the video signal.
    It's most likely your camera does not support stereo, so it's outputting the video signal through the white wire.

  • @exposetheheart
    @exposetheheart Před 3 lety +4

    Try setting it to av but plug the white cable coming from the camcorder into the yellow port on the devices. And the yellow into the white on the device. I bet that will allow you to record using just the composite cables. It has something to do with the adapter/dongle thing connected to the camcorder. I ran into a similar issue doing something similar. That noise you are hearing is the video signal going through the audio port. Let me know if this works. I’m curious.

      Excellent Question! So they also have a 1080P HD Converter too (see link in the description area) Because my videos are all under 720 I went with that, But yes they have 1080/60fps too. Note the converter doesn't upconvert to 1080 from a low resolution. I believe the TV or computer Monitor would do that part. Thanks for your question. I'm looking for a good way do this, if anyone has found one - but Im not so sure of the quality of this method - for the price of it I wouldn't have expected to see throughout (eg. at 8:55 ) corruption all along the right side - and at 8:49 it doesn't seem to handle flat areas of colour very well - the walls are all showing banding (coloured rainbow blotches) like its a really small low quality jpg file - is there an option to record at a higher bits-per-second (quality)?
    However - on the good side - I cannot see any video combing effects (weird jagged lines when someone moves fast) - thats probably the 60fps fixing that.
    Ive been looking for a long time now a way to go Directly from VHS to MP4, that keeps colour accurate and utilizes a good comb (interlaced video) filter?
    Thanks for the video.

    I spent four hours last night trying to use a VCR to USB convertor with software on my computer. Couldn't get the audio to sync..it was delayed. Tried so many ways. I was able to get it to work properly but only in a MPEG-2 format, but I wanted MPEG-4 format.
    My question is, with your device does it sync the audio nicely? Nothing worse that audio that doesn't match! Not sure I want to spend the bucks on this device. I found that ClearClick also sells a VHS to USB/software product (similar to mine) but maybe it would work better than mine? Have you seen it? One review mentioned the same audio lag as mine had. I bought this digital converter and it arrived today. I plugged it in to my old Sony video 8 XR SteadyShot Handycam vision CCD-TRV25 NTSC.
    I was able to record videos from my old Sony 8mm camcorder to the SD card inserted in this ClearClick converter.
    As I was recording, I was watching the video running on my old Sony camcorder and at the same time I was watching the same video running on this ClearClick converter. The video on the Sony camcorder was smooth, while on the ClearClick converter was very flickering.
    After finishing recording, I took out the SD card from the ClearClick converter and inserted it in my computer. The video was just a constant flickering, absolutely unbearable to watch. Seemed like it was constantly skipping frames.
    The SD card used is Sandisk Extreme 32 V30 U3 A1.
    Is there something that I am doing wrong? Is my Sony 8mm camcorder too old for this ClearClick?

    • @TommyDrone

      HI Alberto. Yes it records from 8 mm too. The reason this unit is all you need for old VHS and 8mm video is because vhs and video8 can store up to 240 vertical lines at full vertical resolution of 480 (NTSC) or 576 (PAL) pixels. so those old tapes would capture the video at 480x480 / 480x576 pixels. This unit records at 720 pixels which captures all lines and resolution pixels and every frame is captured at 60 fps which is what you need to best copy a video to digital.

It sounds like you're saying that the pre-recorded, copyrighted music showing up on your samples can't be turned off but can only be muted by turning the volume all the way down. If I do that, I'm guessing that also mutes the music from my video, which defeats the purpose of using this device for Hi8 transfers. • @radiozelaza
    @radiozelaza Před 3 lety +1

    does it deinterlace?

    • @TommyDrone
      @TommyDrone  Před 3 lety

      Here's what I can say and what I know. Deinterlacing is the process of converting interlaced video into a non-interlaced or progressive form. Interlaced video signals are commonly found in analog television, digital television (HDTV) when in the 1080i format, some DVD titles, and a smaller number of Blu-ray discs.
      Deinterlacing with Yadif reduces quality when anything moves at all. It also reduces temporal resolution if you deinterlace to 25p / 30p. You can use doing double-rate deinterlacing to get 50p / 60p to solve this problem, if your playback hardware supports it. There are lots of deinterlacers available.
      For instance, if you have several cameras, and some record interlaced and some record progressive and you want the "look" to be consistent and you can't afford to rent or buy cameras which match, you would have to deinterlace (and probably change frame rates)
      Final answer: I don't know for sure if this product does. That would be a great question to ask on the Amazon Questions portion of the site for this unit. Click the link above and ask that question to them on the Amazon page for this product, be interesting to see what they say. For me I liked that it copies at 60FPS, which is what I wanted and the 720P is plenty for old videos that recorded at 240.

    I just got the ClearClick 2.0 recorder. I’m using it to record old VHS tapes to digital. I’m having an issue though. When I try to record a tape that’s more than 2 hours in length it creates a second file and continues recording. How do I get it to record just 1 file?? Or will I just have to edit the 2 files so they are 1 in a vídeo editor program??

    • @TommyDrone
      @TommyDrone  Před 2 lety

      It makes two files. I personally prefer all my files to be 30 minute chunks so I stop and start every 30 minutes. However for movies I just let it records and what ever files it does. It works fine for me.
