Everyone loved him and they thought his roasts were hilarious. Even the people he was roasting laughed because they knew they were nothing more than simply jokes. I really miss that simpleness.

It was all in his act. I attended a show of his years ago. Near the end of the show, he made up with all the people he had insulted during the performance. I spoke with him briefly afterward - he was kind, gracious, and thanked everyone for coming. He said 'God bless you' to everyone he spoke to. A classy man in real life.
This man is a “Comedian’s comedian.” He’s who funny people think are funny, this man is a god. As a pro comic, these one liners are so savage and so hard to pull off. Jesus he killed 😂😂😂😂
I'd recommend to check his "don rickles ronald reagan inauguration" bit, that was also his favorite performance. All his Letterman appearances are also great, especially the early ones.
Don was also a very active movie and TV actor. He's been in everything was westerns to sit-coms. His stand-up career originated as something to do between acting gigs.
Don Rickles was nothing but love, & one of the very few people that worked in Hollywood for decades & you cannot find one person that knew him that will say anything bad about him. After his shows he went from table to table, person to person if necessary, we all need to laugh at ourselves & love each other. No one & I mean NO ONE went to a Don Rickles show & sat anywhere near the front or an isle & expected to get out of the show un-roasted. & Everything was off the cuff & Ad-Lib. Greatness.
Don rickles!!!!! RIP legend. There is a bunch of videos of don rickles on the Johnny Carson show that are so good. The dean martin celebrity roast are awesome as well. He has a lot great stuff, more than what is on this edited video.
I'm glad you guys did this and enjoyed it. In spite of being known as an insult comic, you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who has a bad word to say about Don. At the end of each show he had a monologue that would reveal his true side and how it's all in good fun and for laughs. He held no animosity toward anyone.
This was comedy at its best. Being from a NYC Jewish family from the 50s and 60s the Borscht belt comedians went on to give use 30 years of amazing comedy and movies

Don and Rodney were in the same age group, among a couple of others, who ruled the comedy world back then. If I recall correctly, Dons nickname was Mr. Warmth. Yeah heard a shit load of celebs say that
It's a shame that the young have been deeply trained not to laugh - but be "triggered" and offended. It's a terrible humorless way to go through life.
What a lot of people don’t know is that these celebrities wanted to be roasted by Don it was considered an honor
