- Part One (of three) of the concert of August 10th 2022 at the Jamboree Jazz Club, Barcelona.
The 'Barcelona Ladies' are Lucia Fumero piano, Magali Datzira double bass, Eva Fernandez saxophone and Rita Payes trombone, all sharing the vocals.
Taken from the Jamboree live stream which is a fixed camera, so apologies for the less than perfect images, but well worth sharing on my channel.
Don't miss Parts 2 & 3. - Hudba
Pura felicidad la de este grupo de extremadamente buenos músicos. I'm writing from Hispanic America.
Wonderful. I would love to see a concert with Eva, Rita, Magali, Andrea, Alba A. Joana and Abril all together again.
Thank you so much Paul!
Wow, Eva, Rita and Magalí, playing together again, sax, trombone and double bass. And her voices. Just like in the good old days of Sant Andreu! It was a long, long time ago that I can remember. I had recently seen Eva and Magalí together in some street concerts in Barcelona, but not the three of them on the same stage (except at the 15th anniversary macro-concert at the Palau, last year, of course). And Lucía, the daughter of the great Horacio, who is a close friend of Rita and they play together very often. Good pianist and vocalist. And Juan Berbín on drums (he was on the iconic and familiar recording of " Nunca vas a comprender" with Rita, Elisabeth and Horacio).
Nice concert, mixing various styles of Jazz, Brazilian, Latin and some difficult to classify songs, all very eclectic, typical of these times. I sense that most of the arrangements are by Lucía, I see her hand here and there... The thing sounds very good, like a rare cocktail, but pleasant to the palate and very intoxicating. I really enjoyed it.
Thanks again, Paul! 😉
There was this one in Malaga czcams.com/video/muhI1I3HBqE/video.html
Bon concert.
Congratulations to the whole.
Thank you, Paul. Great to see these ladies together again after all these years.
What a treat! Juan is a great drummer ... but if only Abril Sauri had been included as a guest artist, even for one song, in this magnificent ensemble of 'Barcelona Ladies'! R (Australia)
I hear ya talkin' dr. Abril is da Bomb... sure can knock down Bossa Nova rhythms.
Wunderbar! Danke!
Thanks again, Paul. Turned a dull Saturday into something special -- and I see part 2 in my menu. So fine. Makes me want to be a drummer.
Don't forget Part 3!!😊

Are these musicians (Lucia, Magali, Eva and Rita) still performing and recording?
Can I find their recent work online?
This group of ladies have all known each other for a few years through the Sant Andreu jazz project and have their own careers but come together from time to time to perform.
I know Magali is in Mexico at the moment and Rita has been on tour in Europe and they all have videos on CZcams and use Facebook so yes you can find them online.
@@paulmasonsjazz9611 Thank you for your reply and the information about Magali and Rita.
And what about Eva? I have not been able to find any recent performance listings for her.
@@RalphDratman I don't know if this will work - a link to the SAJB's Facebook Friends Group featuring Eva last week but I'm giving it a try. facebook.com/groups/391119998374392/permalink/1329409727878743/
@@RalphDratman Also this on CZcams czcams.com/video/JLCGa-31b5Y/video.html
Eva's great Yo Pregunto album is on Spotify. A live performance of her latest work is at czcams.com/video/J5eMU1fBLVw/video.html and a great concert from last year is at czcams.com/video/jfcENczr3SQ/video.html Enjoy
This is great! I wish the video quality were as good as the audio quality. But the band sounds great. I guess someone captured it off a stream. Maybe there is the original version on youtube somewhere?
It was live streamed by the Jamboree Jazz Club with their fixed camera at the back of the club. I filmed it from the livestream using my old Samsung phone which has recorded everything you see on my channel. Jamboree don't put concerts on CZcams they just livestream for people who are unable to be there. Its still worth doing though as you will see from the previous ones. Thanks for the interest.
@@paulmasonsjazz9611 Thank you for the reply. Have a great day, and keep the music pumping!!!
I think the drummer is @onthejuan Juan Rodriguez Berbin.
I wasn't sure either, maybe someone will know for definite.
You're right; he's identified in Part 3.
