- A hot version of “After You’ve Gone” from last night’s “Joan Chamorro Presents The Magic of the Voice” show at the Jamboree Jazz Club, Barcelona. So young with so much talent: Rita Payés Roma-trombone, Andrea Motis-sax, trumpet, Magalí Datzira-bass & Eva Fernández-sax. And a superb band: Joan Chamorro-sax, Josep Traver-guitar, Ignasi Terraza-piano, Esteve Pi-drums.

Still one of my favorite videos -- one I send others when trying to explain how talented these women are.
This is magic........The bass player is BOSS......Holy Moly.....
Great Rita as always ! and what about Magali , wowwwwww
Magali, Magali, Magali!!! You ROCK!!!
In my day in jazz, with a few exceptions, men played and women sang. Now Joan with his wonderful orchestra, has proved that the girls can still sing, but they can also be brilliant instrumentalists. the future of jazz is safe.
Yes, I give Joan lots of credit, the Band & all the Girls, singing & playing # same time.
I just hope they come to NYC....:-)
Oh my goodness..Magali plays bass like a freaking machine. ..
Is there another alive who has her speed & time mastery...
I think not
Bass player is in the zone - awesome - shes one to keep an eye out for on the world stage
Only a true master of the Bari could take it apart and overhaul it in the middle of a performance ... without missing a beat.
They're all just killing it, but OMG Magali on bass - whew!
Magali is unbelievable! The whole band is unbelievable...
Thanks so much to you, videographer, for the focus on amazing bassist Magalí Datzira. Just smokin'
Love Rita on the trombone!
as much as i love Andrea Motis on trumpet, i almost like her sax even more...
I just love Magali!!!!
Awesome bass player. Magali. what a fantastic musician she is. I want her in my band.
magali is unbelivably talented in vocals and playing bass ....wow
Magali is the "not so hidden" talent behind this number.
These musicians can rank with the best anywhere.
All those women stole my heart!
Outstanding! Magali's walking bass with those fabulous faces she makes are worth the price of admission alone.
Magali is simply oooooo-some! I will pay just to see her alone doing that bass thing :)
Magali - speed, timing, feeling and just all round brilliance - as are the others of course time after time WOW
Why hasn't the world's population made these fantastic musicians more famous than they are?
Agreed
Because they are not american?
I'm workin on it..I'm workin on it!
I hope and pray that fame doesn't hurt them in any way.
Because modern pop crap is the lowest common denominator and endlessly promoted on radio stations espically the BBC who should now better.
Excellent band!
The gal playing the bass has got some serious skills! 🙌🎶
I agree. I wanted to hear her solo.
magali is flying...
Yes, Magali is phenomenal!
I love the look on each one's face when they finish their solo! And Magali just works it so hard. What a treat to watch! Bravo!!
Yikes!!! Up to tempo and fantastic! Magali' can play that bass. Nice sax work ! Heck, nice work by everyone!!!
More please! Great solos all! Yes and the bass was outstanding! You go girls!!
Just out of this world! What extraordinary talent!
Eva at her best, a great vocal on "After You've Gone, and then a great alto solo.
Lĺĺĺĺ
Amazing Bass!
If Maestro Joan and the ladies could go into a time machine and go back to mid 1940's 52nd street NYC, they would definitely be stars in any of those jazz clubs.
I can't get enough the whole band is brilliant.
FANTASTIC!❤🎵🎼🎶👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I am speechless. This group has developed from just plain vanilla jazz musicians into top drawer artists! OMG1 Joan Chamorro is almost wholly responsible for this bright star of jazz in Spain that is now lighting up the world! I am gob smacked!
Me encanta todos !!!!!
Bravo à Magali, vraiment extra !!
That incredible rhythm section could play anything and make it groove like crazy.
The bass player really puts the stomp down. She is possessed by the music. Watch her!
Magali ist der 😂Wahnsinn……Ihr macht so tolle Musik!
Wow, that was up-tempo. Loved it thank you all!
holy cow! great playing by all!
Love it how Joan changes the reed on his baritone during Ms. Rita’s solo and then comes in right on time for his solo! Kudos to Ms. Andrea for doubling on sax. All-Stars!
This is incredible, stunning solos all, the girls were on fire for this one. Magali was playing at such a pace that she almost had a wardrobe malfunction!
Eva's vocal and her sax solo both brighten my day every time. Played it 50 times. Fresh every time. Jazz at it's best, in my humble opinion.
The intensity of Magali is just amazing! She is focused on the music like a laser -- maybe it's the red lipstick on top of everything else, but tonight she's the star in this group of all-stars!
I've seen a lot of videos with her in them, but never one where she was so "on". I love it!
Agree with ya. Magali was simply brilliant here. Her burning intensity, her sole focus on the music...it was as if music was all that mattered and it was. Magnificent!
@@albertng8979 There's this phenomenon of being "in the zone" that occasionally happens with athletes, gamblers, musicians, and other callings. This is about as good an example as I know! I really miss her....
This is absolute perfection in jazz form. I want to see these guys live one day.
Tof wow prachtig
Brilliant performance. Hard work for the girl on the Bass.....
Just fantastic, what fun. Great musicians.
That Eva Fernández sax solo at 3:08 knocks me out every time I play it.
For some time now, I've thought that Eva was arguably the best sax player to come through the SAJB, but I have to admit it's not an easy call, she has lots of competition!
@@chanelops I still believe that!
@@melvinenos2781 I hear ya!
Another rocking arrangement of a classic jazz tune. This group of geniuses just get better and better and they are ever so talented!!! What talent!!!!
My girls! I love 'em all--the original "Fab Four" of Chomorro's band. And they're all going full steam here.
I fell in love four times
Great solo Eva. Playful.
How can anyone not love this! 👏👏❤️💐😎
Magalí Datzira, nice bass play.
Bravo Magali Datzira, suena hermoso ese bajeo!
Great action! Love it ! Especially that Magali with the bass is visible more than usually. There is so much yoy. Really magic!
And there goes Magali again, playing walking (running?) eighths in quick time. She does some of it with her eyes closed!
Evamaravilhosa!
And Esteve Pi as well playing with eyes shut.
Outch ! Love how Eva breathes jazz music :) What a thrill ! And with Magali at her side, they're killing it ! Bravo !!!
Just listened to three versions of this number featuring Eva. All are stunning, the current version providing a wonderful bonus of an outstanding performance by Magali on double bass.
Sr Chamorro, if you could put together a festival featuring past students such as these, people would come from around the world and pay big money to hear them. It has been a wonderfully inspiring renaissance of jazz that continues to bring so much joy into our lives. The life and vitality expressed by these young people and their mentors brings joy into our hearts, smiles to our faces and sets our feet dancing. Gracious thanks to you all. 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼
He has and people come--The Jazzing Festival in Barcelona early every September.
Y mi Magali, genial como siempre !!!!! YEAAAA!!!!!!
Out of the dozens of drum solos I have heard, since 1973, the skin solo in this song has a COHERENT feel to it. It also lasts, just the right amount of time to NOT become tiresome like so many do.
WOW!! Just TOO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!! Amazing Talent!!!
Joan and his boys , Eva and her girls, = perfection!! Eva, Andrea, Rita and that Magali who is kicking ass on the that bass!!! They are so great and talented it is amazing as they started off as young girls in the SAJB and bloomed into these fabulous jazz singers and musicians!!! Incredible job Joan and ladies!!!
There s just no end to the listening pleasure that I get from Joan Chamorro and this wonderful group of musicians. I live in the hope that one day I will see them billed appearing here in the UK. The huge bonus is that they are all so young. Thank you all.
Wow ! The band is really burning. Individually, they are excellent. As a former drummer, my preference goes to Magali Datzira, whose groove I think is exceptional. Congratulations also to the Old Master for teaching them since they were little girls and for keeping them together.
Don Dworkin, thank you for posting this. It is one of many videos and audio recordings from Sant Andreu that help me stay sane in these crazy times. Watching this group create music permits me to believe once again, if only for a short time, in the basic soundness and goodness of reality.
Sono incantato dalle dita lunghe, sottili eppur così forti e precise della bassista. Dita che cantano, senza perdere un mezzo colpo, senza sbagliare di un mezzo tono, mai! Fantastica!
I love all of them!
That rendition gets mighty talented respect.. it came off Twice as Nice ..as My Mothers Advice, loved every Solo. Don't Stop .
I just love Magali's focus and intensity on this piece. She giving her maximum
She is in a class by herself. I grew up listening to Oscar Peterson, Ed Thigpen, and RAY BROWN. She has it down pat and will only get better.
@@harrygio1 But I love them all! Alba, Joanna Casanova, Eva, Elia! Magali, Rita seem to have gone on their own
great Magali on bass !!!!!!
You pro musicians and bandleaders out there need to hire these kids as they evolve and share their talent with the world!
OMG! I so love this sound! You are all so amazing! Missing the old great jazz sounds in the US.
Just so happy I found you all.❌⭕❤💞😒 My heart smiles! Thanks
Love Joan's synchronised mouthpiece adjustment. He clears it just in time.
El trabajo de Datzira en el contrabajo es impresionante.
AMAZING TALENT ON ONE STAGE. Can't stop listening. Thank you!
Maravilhosaaaaaa Eva!!!
I was lucky to be there that day....Wonderful !
Lucky, lucky you!
Were you on piano?
These guys and gals are smoking hot. Love that bass.

Bravo to all !!! Joan what a great solo there, almost recognized Gerry Mulligan :-) Played the tenor and alto, but never the baritone, wish I can some day like you ! You are great on bass too but Magali is right on it :-)
Wonderful! Bravo! Sant Andreu Jazz Band forever!
