  • This is a video guide for replacing the oil and oil filter on a 2015 Mk7 Golf 2.0TDI with DPF. I have already made a full service video but wanted to make a separate video just covering the oil/ filter change in detail and highlighting any points raised in my previous upload. Hope you find this video useful and feel free to use it as a guide for carrying out the maintenance task yourself.
    The table for different VW oil specs was sourced from this article:
    www.oilspecifications.org/art...
    Order a service kit from my amazon shop (affiliate): amzn.to/41quKNU
    02:04 - STEP 1 - WARM THE ENGINE
    02:27 - STEP 2 - PUT CAR ON STANDS
    03:05 - STEP 3 - REMOVE UNDER-TRAY
    03:43 - STEP 4 - REMOVE SUMP PLUG
    04:29 - STEP 5 - REMOVE OIL FILTER
    05:25 - STEP 6 - REPLACE 'O' RINGS
    07:05 - STEP 7 - REFIT OIL FILTER
    07:48 - STEP 8 - REPLACE SUMP PLUG (Some say this type of sump plug with the captive steel washer is reusable...some advise to replace every oil change? If the sump plug has a crush washer this should be replaced every oil change.)
    08:10 - STEP 9 - REFILL OIL
    09:45 - STEP 10 - START ENGINE AND CHECK FOR LEAKS
    10:06 - STEP 11 - REINSTALL UNDER-TRAY
    10:21 - STEP 12 - REMOVE STANDS
    10:34 - STEP 13 - RESET SERVICE LIGHT
    11:05 - STEP 14 - UPDATE SERVICE RECORDS.

    Well done VW, since the mid 90s your oil filters have been serviceable easily from above. Now it goes horizontal and hidden. Great work.

    Thanks for the video, I haven't changed the plug o ring as I didn't open the plug, just the oil filter housing. Want to see how the small o ring is being changed and you showed me thanks.

    Is that the aux water pump next to the sump plug? I had my car serviced and the garage said the pump bracket is broken. I might replace it myself if it's easily accessible.

    Please answer if you can about TIME BELT change interval for VW Golf MK7 !

      I’m glad you found it useful 😁 I couldn’t find the service interval in the manual and online the figures range from 60k - 140k miles or 4 - 5 years whichever comes first. Personally I go for the 60k or 4 years to be safe 👍🏼 hope this helps.

      180k km or 6 years.But it is better to change at 120k km or 5 years

    The Castrol Magnatec 5w30 C3 oil you used initially was low SAPS, hence the C3 designation on the front of the can. I doubt you will have done any engine or DPF damage using this oil. All you have done is upgraded to Castrol's best engine oil. Hopefully you have got some more mpg using Edge. I personally use Fuchs SuperSyn or Mannol oil in my VWs.

    • @TurnersWorkshop97
      @TurnersWorkshop97  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks for your comment mate, it’s good to know that the C3 oil is also a low saps oil. I can’t say I notice much of a difference using edge oil over the C3 but I’m sure the edge is much better for this engine 👍🏼 I will have to check out the mannol equivalent as I’ve heard it’s great quality oil for a good price.

    Great job !
    So, the torques are:
    - Oil Filter Housing Torque:
    32 mm -> 25+5Nm = 30Nm
    13 mm -> 5+2Nm = 7Nm
    - Oil pan drain plug Torque:
    19 mm -> 30Nm
    These are the values? Thank you in advance :)

    the best oil is a frequent oil change. i buy mannol 20l drums works out €5 a litre and change oil and filter every 7500km and full service again at 15000km when the cars asks for one. you cant go wrong. better than changing castrol or expensive brands of oil at 15000km

    Might be cheaper in the long run to buy a 20 litre lube cube from a Fuchs agent. GT1 Pro C3 is a 507.00 spec oil and used to be factory fill. I think I paid £85 last time but no idea what the cost is now due to oil prices rising. The longlife service regime was a thing to keep costs down for fleet vehicles, ignore it, 10k change as an absolute maximum, 6k if short journeys. As far as oil specs go stick to the VW code, there is more to the chemistry than you'd think. Older PD TDi's had to use 505.01 or 506.00 (or later 507.00 also works), anything but those and it was a gamble on whether the camshaft would wear out due to the oil not being up to the job even though it was the correct viscosity.

      @TurnersWorkshop97  Před 2 lety +1

      That’s good to know thanks for the recommendation 👍🏼 I stick to the 10k change using long life Castrol edge but would be good to get a bulk buy to save some money. I’ve heard that Mannol oils are pretty good too and cheap.

    What has the oil got to do with dpf, it’s oil not fuel and it should stay within the engine shouldn’t get to the dpf.

    • @TurnersWorkshop97
      @TurnersWorkshop97  Před rokem +1

      Hi, I think it’s more to do with engines that burn a small amount of oil.

    • @pajdorian6669
      @pajdorian6669 Před rokem +2

      Every single engine burns small amount of oil. And even that small amount can have significant impact on the DPF.

    • @dopiaza2006
      @dopiaza2006 Před 2 měsíci

      Oil gets into the intake via the crankcase ventilation system, and also some through turbo seals. It doesn't take much to reduce the efficiency of the DPF.
