Tom another abundance of alternative patching of which I find hard to follow , infinite combinations that you explore, only wish I had the Dannysound set of modules as they sound exquisite
Great tutorial as always, thanks keep em coming👍🆒🎶🔱🕸⚡️🌟🌟

Everyone who thinks they know what a "Reese bass" is needs to check 'Just Want Another Chance' by Reese aka Kevin Saunderson.
Lots of cool animated, sustained bass sounds out there in the world, but if it's full of fizz and midrange it has very little to do with the archetype.
No shade here - just ranting cuz I can't stop. (I've read the original was likely a phase distortion CZ synth...)

Very true - the OG is definitely pretty light on mid-range and heavy on growl. One of those terms that’s moved away quite a bit from its roots I guess!

    Hey tom
    Very nice patches
The Dannysound VCO's sounding soo great!
In patch #3, which type of reverb do you used?
I think i need du order the Dannysound collection!

Thanks Jamal! In patch #3 there’s just a little touch of Native Instruments Raum reverb and Soundtoys Echoboy Jr delay that I added after recording in Live - there’s no FX in the modular for that patch.

What is a "MM VCA"? I checked modular grid. There is no "MM" manufacturer, yet there are 11 manufacturers whose acronym could be "MM", i.e. "Microbe Modular". C'mon man!

    • @TomChurchill
      @TomChurchill  Před rokem +1

The manufacturer is Dannysound; the module name is MM VCA: www.modulargrid.net/e/dannysound-mm-vca

@@TomChurchill DannySound? Never heard of them. I checked modular grid, there is no link to a manufacturer web page nor a retail link. Is this DIY?

    • @TomChurchill

This is the manufacturer page: www.dannysound.com/modules/mm-vca
Some of the Dannysound modules are available assembled at Schneidersladen but I think this one might be DIY only. I got my kit from Thonk. If you Google it you’ll find a few built ones for sale in various places.

Also a good video here by DivKid if you want to know more about the VCA specifically - my video is really about the full Dannysound range. czcams.com/video/X-BHRjfrgwM/video.html
