She is now considered by many to be among the top tier of violin soloists!
I love her performance and interpretation. There is an old Charles Ives saying i must quote..."Don't listen too hard to the Notes, you might miss the Music.". I love this Concerto and the Third Movement moved my heart and Soul. The ability to do that is more important than any prize or Gold medal ! My most humble, grateful thanks to Bomsori and Demetri Shostakovich. I too have the David Oistrach recording.
Bomsori Kim was the best violinist in the competition.
what do you know about violin?
@@ubkwerhe5469 I love Georgia!
@@jeanparke9373 you don't love anything. you just 8 hours a day fool around youtube to write about korea.
She received four standing ovations. I watched the live feed. The video cuts off the last two. Superb performance by Bomsori Kim!
True. Note the hot applause of the orchestra, especially the spontaneous reaction of the concertmaster (he flushed with emotion :) ).
1st place. She is the best-of-the-best violin players in the world, and super classy.
Bondori Kim Shostakovich. concerto. one violin Samichatilna. Sdoraba. Vasjititilna. Chudiesna. ❤
Bomsori,
Most of the Polish audience, our jury members and all experts in the TV studio and music critics agree - you should win.
mironmis Yes! I agree!
mironmis Veriko Tchumburidze won and VERY RIGHTLY won. She was the best.
Simply the best!
couldn't agree more!
@@mashtali1 So, where is her career now? I don't see her at all lol
Physical very exhausting concerto. Requires tons of stamina, endurance, energy. That's an aspect that is rarely mentioned, but I mention in because it is another huge demand on the solist, besides being a genius musician. Kim Bomsori has it all.
1st movement 1:13 (nocturne moderato)
2nd movement 13:48 (scherzo allegro)
3rd movement 21:00 (passcaglia: andante - cadenza)
4th movement 34:50 (burlesque: allegro con brio)
Thank you
Cadenza at 29:36
While her violin gently weeps... I'm just speechless; and it actually serves me good..
The concert culminates with a heart-breaking and a tear- jerking crescendo....
Brilliant performance by Ms. Kim...
Well well well... Heaven must have sent you from above... Bomsori the Angel !
Genialne.
how is her tone so clear and loud without being scratchy. i know she’s very good, but that must be an incredible violin for her to have such a clean sound.
That’s a Guadagnini violin loaned to Kim by Samsung Foundation. It was once played by Clara-Jumi Kang when she won the Indianapolis Violin Competition.
Flawless playing. Emotional and expressive.
Well, feel like got no words to describe... But this is the moment when the music talks :)
I am obsessed with this concerto. keep coming back to it.
wow I am speechless after watching this. That performance was amazing!
39:46 that was a beautiful smile. like a little angel.
The 3rd movement is breath-taking.
Co mam powiedzieć ... łzy mi płyną... najlepsza...
FENOMENALNA !!! JESTEŚ NUMER 1 !!! TALENT,WDZIĘK,MISTRZOSTWO. GRATULUJĘ !!!
Bonsori Kim Infant Prodigy ❤
Not to mention Bomsori's impeccable playing, props to the timpanist. She is amazing!
FANTASTIC ORCHESTRA.
Bomsori Kim performing Shostakovich Violin Concerto is sublime. The continuous playing flows so like an incessant stream. The dynamics and sensitivity in her playing are astounding. A soulful performance and the conductor directs the orchestra with intuition and fine authority. The orchestra has a great exchange with the violinist and the conductor. Shostakovich composition is simply a wonderful captivating musical treasure.
What a performance.....what a musicality.
A rear combination of artistic talent, musicality and beauty. Bravissimo!!!
I love her facial expressions and body language right after she bows. :)
20:16 - Cool to see the conductor give Bomsori a wink, clearly approving of her performance to this point.
Oh my God! Bomsori is a unique miracle!
Her sincere soul by her violin melted the hearts of the audience. Naturally, her encore. She sincerely bows to the audience, the conductor and the whole orchestra at the end of her performance. She is unique as a person. She is not aware of her talent.
many violinists, world-class soloists ones, have that kind of humble aura. like her, Hilary Hahn, Janine Jansen, etc. They, put a lot of hardwork in growing their God gifted talent. just because they seem humble and great as a person doesnt mean... they're not aware of their talents.
Best of all! :)
Spectacular editing in this video, kudos to the producers. Beyond that I'm in awe of this composition and this performance.
she had deserved first prize
She HAS the first prize --- my heart!

@@Incognito-rb4tz The communism relates back to Shostakovich. What a great coincidence!
Amazing performance Bomsori💜
I loved it. You should win.
BOMSORI - Você é sempre ESPECIAL!
.
The Power energy with sensitively inner stronger and expressive "Bomsori Kim"
She's so tiny! I think I love her.
At the conclusion, the conductor ditches his baton so he can clap as loudly as possible. Clearly he was pleased with Bomsori's performance.
I feel like crying...
Superb playing indeed.
Diem I want to play vviolin
I want the little boy from 3 years and 6 months old
What a fantastic performance wow👍💕💕💕
Out of her three performances of the Shostakovich Violin Concerto on CZcams, this one in the competition, the Gala concert, and the one earlier in Montreal, this is her best (but not the orchestra). She didn't get the first price. Perhaps more painfully, the co-winner of the second price was far from her level.
The only reason that she didn't win the first price I can think of is that the winner of the previous competition was also a Korean, the incomparable SoYoung Yoon. Actually she plays Beethoven in the Opening concert, what a marvelous Beethoven!
Maybe they felt obliged to give it to a European (or should I say, a non-Korean) this time.
My exact thoughts!
Bravo bravo espléndido maravilloso concierto felicidades bellísima Bomsori Gracias

Excelente como siempre. Muy expresiva. Sabe llegar al alma. Muchas gracias.
Maravilhoso... Truly and very wonderful...
This is crazy good, how in the world did she not win 1st place?
I hope she can also record the Hindemith Violin Concerto. She is a magnificent artist.

love 2nd movement!
Beautifull:) I was sad for you; you should win this competition. Good luck and have fun! Bravo!
O scherzo sempre me deixa encantada pois é super divertido e empolgante
Amazing!
Bomsori means Sound of Spring.
Thanks for loading it from great Poland.

You are good ,very good
Podziwiać należy.
bravo !
This is a nearly flawless performance. Although I don't think the first movement should have consistently tight vibrato, it was overall sensational. The second movement...wow.
bravooo kim
que violinista copada!
very deservedly and correctly she got the second prize.
The result of those competitions is always doubtful
I think this piece change keys everytime
7:36 very odd choice of notes for the harp.... so ominous... almost like an "outside' impact to the movement, but then everything changes and becomes very dark after that..... such dissonance. I love it...It's like, "OK everyone, here is the root, NO THIRDS or FIFTHS unless they are diminished or flatted... if you play anything within the major scale structure that is within bounds, you are GONE! Diminished, whole tones and some seriously spaced harmonic minor modalities are acceptable....12:12 (name that scale and mode)
Beat drop at 16:37
Woohhh! Hirap nun ah! Galeng nyo, dumami pa sana kayo. By the way, dyan ba patterned ang "My Love and Devotion" ni Matt Monroe? Parang I heard some similarities kasi😊

That's right!
So much fantastic. . .
33:49 just marking it
The performance has been interrupted twice so far (8:20) with advertisements. Unfortunately I can't listen to the rest of the concerto. Sad.
omg, I don't think it is Shostakovich, but a Brahms/Mendelssohn. How she can perform in such a dolce style
Final movement: 34:50
During second movement, my prayers go to the orchestra😝
Faszinierend...
1:14 starts
1:14 GREAT shot 😂😂😂
10:18 , strange bow winding/imitation whalebone and leather (bow repairer and apprentice-archiver here). I haven't seen a bow with this "setup" before - can some Bomsori Kim fans please tell me if she often plays with her index finger quite high up on the stick?
That would make sense.
What doesn't quite make sense is if this particular bow went to another player. It might not be comfortable for them.
Of course, there's also the balance-point with is extremely important to the bow! Thanks, Liam
12:39 - I can see she does tend to hold the bow over that section, however this is quite an intense piece. I can't imagine her playing Bach or Vivaldi and such, in this way.
The close-ups show a violin that has likely seen the world a few times over. Looks like a Kun shoulder rest.... although I've never seen one with black rubber grips. That was probably a Luthier's hand being as the Kun's like to slip a bit. I'm wondering if that isn't a very small wireless pickup she has right there next to the fine-tuner....(?) ... maybe it's a string dampener. You never hear her rosin-out or ever make a shrill sound on any string... and almost ever violinist does it a time or two during a performance. Then again, practing 25 hours a day for 20 years non-stop helps considerably.....
That thing on the tailpiece is a magnet that holds her mute to make sure it doesn't move around
34:43!!!
WOWWOOW
Very fine playing and sweet sound, although phrasing could be clearer. I kept having Oistrakh's very forceful but also soulful rendition in mind, which is peerless.
I used to know a David Hung. Did you go to McGill University in Montreal in the 60's? Kogan and Oistrakh were/are great masters.
蕭漢強, wow, long time indeed. How and where are you?
Hello David, I am in Toronto, since 1973, now retired. I am also on
Facebook. Not sure if I should give out my email address here. How can we keep in touch? Are you also in Toronto?
I still have the violin you helped me to acquired in Montreal, but it is
in poor shape, the copy of Guadagnini. Haven't played since I got
married. Still have the Gagliano?
Still thankful of the violin knowledge you gave me, lasts a life time.
So happy to be able to talk to you again. Keep in touch one way or another.
