Hey David!! We usually like to make sure the amp or amp simulator setting is set at the edge of breakup, then 1st stage drive is dialed in to make that breakup stand out a little more! Also, understanding the dynamics of the song can really help with getting the tone you want. Hope this helps 🙏🏼
