Just a FYI
Never adjust the slider using the cable adjuster. That is used to make sure there is some “free play” in the throttle cable so that when the handlebars are turned side to side that the RPMs don’t increase.
Idle is always adjusted on the carb itself.
So another simple mod to add to your ltz if you haven't yet is to get a 15t front sprocket. Also (ltz, kfx, dvx) are all the same bikes besides the plastics and headlights. I own a dvx 400 I picked up for 1700 and will never regret it.

I bought an 05 z400 for 500 Canadian not green backs. The guy I got it from put a new cam chain in and timed it exactly backwards and could not get it start anymore. I got it home and was riding it 2 days later! I love this bike an I'm glad you love yours. They are tough and very reliable.

I had the same problem with the LTZ i just picked up after putting the factory carb back on it. Ended up being I didn't put the little snorkel thing back on that goes on the intake side of the air box. I test drove it and was running the same as yours. I put it back on and it ran great. When I got it they had an aftermarket Carb from amazon because they couldn't get it to run right. They mistakenly swaped two of the jets. The starter jet (#60.0) and the main jet (#130) This thing is a lot of fun!

Mine had a Amazon carb too they told me it was new . If I swap the jets would it work fine again ?

I bought a 05 z400 for $400 and just had a buddy of mine install a 440 bbk and a few other things on it I’ve got roughly $2,100 in it now and can’t wait to take it out
Have a 400ex, but have always wanted a Z400 too. My first atv was an 86 Suzuki 230 QuadSport back in the 90’s…gotta love ppl that don’t know how to work/fix engines. Great quad for 1600

Mine was doing that exact same thing all I did to fix it was clean the carb and turn the gas halfway on…well mine was getting too much fuel

Question how can i get red sand in my gas tank when everything is secure and sealed meaning the cap and the pitcock. Had sand in the tank and under the float in the bowl somehow
are you sure it’s not dried gas? it will turn into a powdery red dust. if it is sand then your gas cap is not sealing or someone played a mean joke on you.

How did you remove the carb? Did you have to remove any plastic & gas tank to access the screws?
no, you can just unscrew this carb and tilt it to work on it, or remove it completely, you shouldn’t have to remove plastics unless you wanted more room to work

Hey man I got a slip on just changed the pilot jet to a 25 , do you think I have to change the main jet as well ?
yes you do, probably at least a 150 depending on your altitude

I'm in Michigan... It's probably worth 3400-3500-3700 (mint)here. Flaws would knock the price accordingly. Personally, I would never sell a toy without being totally correct, running perfect, freshplug and oil, AND CLEAN. No rips in seats. No tore up grips.
It's tough for quads if you haven't noticed. Everyone's moving to UTV s.

I want a fuel injected model
we have a pair of LTR450’s and they are great bikes! This 400 is a blast also but fuel injection is definitely nice to have for ease of well everything
