      Lol you know, it is a subject I do occasionally think about, because I love music and I often listen to music, and if I'm home I'll often dance and sing along. And when there's an N word I'll substitute "feller" just because I am low-key worried that if I let myself get comfortable saying it home alone, just in that context, I might accidentally do the same in public sometime
      I think that is right around the fringe edge of a normal limit to where someone should be worrying about using that word socially, where they're not necessarily a psycho for considering it

I dont know too many black people that argue for the right to call other races derogatory names.     Why obsess about saying or not saying a certain word? If you wanna say a word so bad, then say it in your own home, but why do you need to feel you should have the right to say anything you want out in public, in front of people? I don't care what the word is, why make such a big deal about not being able to say a word? And you do have the freedom to say anything you want in public as far as first amendment goes, but that doesn't free you from the freedom of consequences.

      It is fascinating how the word “ghetto” is euphemistically used to refer to black people; despite the fact that most black people don’t live anywhere near a “ghetto.”
      Anytime anyone mentions the “inner city,” I ask where the “inner” city is; and where the “outer” city is. I should ask if it’s near the city’s belly button. 😂. I have lived in plenty of cities and while there are less than desirable neighborhoods in some, none have seemed to be anywhere near an “inner” part of a city. But people use it as though it’s self evident. 🤷🏻‍♀️

    I heard a version of Lenny Bruce's comedy routine some time ago.
    He uses all sorts of offensive words/tropes to describe a whole range of people: Jews, Italians, Asians, Gays, Blacks, Whites, Latinos etc. At the beginning people gasp because the language he was using. By the end of the routine everybody was in hysterics, including me.

      Bruce was right to a certain extent but not totally. Words do have power. Words can still hurt no matter how often they are repeated. Rappers have taken the sting out of the word but only really between themselves. Context can make a difference but its not the whole story.

    Their arguments seem incoherent to me. They say anonymity makes your behavior less acceptable, so remove anonymity to make more positions acceptable and unpunishable. But then say women shouldn't be afraid of removing anonymity because the people doing the unacceptable stuff are anonymous?
