5 main types of OT INTERVENTION
    1. Therapeutic use of SELF - RAPPORT , Using your own personality , perceptions , judgement , to enrich the therapeutic process n allow the pt to reach their goals
2.. Consultation - pt/client seeks solution to different problems, OT collaborates WITH THE PT and come up with different solutions to try out
3.. Education - different topic about an occupation/activity or diagnosis etc
4.. Advocacy - ASSIST its to seek occupational justice , empower them to be able to assess different resources which allows them to be Independent

QUESTION: HOW WILL I CONDUCT THE EVAL???
LETS figure out why he can’t do it , HAVE THE PT BUTTON A SHIRT N SEE WHERE THE PROBLEM IS , AND ALSO ASK QUESTIONS, IS IT PAINFUL?PAIN SCALE? ,
WT HELPS WITH THE PAIN ? Check strength, rom, sensation .. have you tried anything to help ?
What did we find? : DECREASE STRENGTH and FMS, AND PAIN , compromised joints DECREASES ROM
1 STEP : ACTIVITY ANALYSIS wt skills and body functions need to work in order to complete this task ? FMS , rom, sensation, joints integrity , strength, DECREASE pain
DO YOU want to restore or compensate ? Meaningful ? Or can we NOT WEAR BUTTON SHIRTS , TRY RESTORE BEFORE COMPENSATE …
    WE CHOOSING TO RESTORE !
    2. PREP methods: PAMS- DECREASE PAIN, WORK ON FMS - spray bottles , peg board , nut/bolts, play connect 4 , FINGER STRENGTH - DIGI FLEXI, SPLINT - PAIN AND COMFORT
NOTE : EDUCATE YOUR PTS about why you doing the activities you doing !
    3. PURPOSEFUL ACTIVITY - come up with activities to help pt work towards THE GOAL : practice with a buttoning board
    4. OCCUPATION BASED : THE ACTUAL ACTIVITY to DON ON SHIRT AND BUTTON IT IN THEIR ROOM IN THE MORNING .
TRY IT AND IT WASNT SUCCESSFUL , TRY COMPENSATING WITH A BUTTON HOOK OR WEAR DIFFERENT CLOTHING

I love OT because of how versatile it is. The diversity in population and environments you can work in/with is so awesome to me. I am a very empathetic person and I’ve always been super healthy and athletic as well. I think to be able to help other people live as blessed of a lives as I’ve been able to live is just about the greatest thing I can do😊

I’m a psych major so I love how occupational therapy incorporates cognition into rehabilitative care. I also love how creative you can get with your sessions making anything out of anything to simulate daily activities that patients would perform at home. Not to mention how OT celebrates achieving small goals making the overall goal attainable and rewarding. Becoming an OT is a dream of mine that I’m trying so hard to pursue!

    Great video as always.
I want to be an OT because it will give me happiness knowing I can help someone heal with the form of therapy. I have always wanted a healthcare career, but wasn't sure what I wanted, until I found your videos. I did more research and I will like to be an OT because I will love to see the smile on someone's face after they have healed. Just praying to complete the preqs and get accepted into the program for school in 2020. Amen

This was so helpful! I’m in my first year of my Masters and some of these interventions I haven’t seen yet, but I’m sure they’ll come in handy at my first placement this summer. For me, the thing I’m liking most about OT right now is working with chronic conditions! I had never considered it an area of interest until this semester and so far I love all the different areas OTs can be involved.

I want to be an OT because I feel like it's my calling. I always knew that I wanted to help people intimately and admire how this career uses both psychology and physical rehabilitation. Not to mention, this career is very innovative and I like to brainstorm new ways to accomplish goals! It would be my honor to be a patient's cheerleader and I feel that being an OT gives me the best opportunity to do that.
