If you picture the kind of buildings in 1929, it really takes a transcendent genius to come up with something like this that still looks modern nearly 100 years later.
Very well said! People like him stand out like prime numbers, without them mankind would stand still.
This type of honest Industrial design is a glimpse of what the modern world could have looked like if we hadn't embraced planned obsolescence after WWII.
I really was stunned to hear that this building was designed in 1929. It looks like something that might be built in the 50s or 60s at the earliest. A true visionary. "Often imitated, never duplicated."
It really is mind-blowing to imagine how it must have felt to view something like this for the first time in 1929. Perhaps like you'd stepped into a time machine and visited the future.
Mies is known for his dictum 'Less is more,' but so many who came after him forgot that he also said: 'God is in the details.'
this is the closest experience I've gotten from the Barcelona Pavilion. Nothing can beat this unless i actually go there personally. Thanks so much for this presentation. Its so incredible and detailed.
Wow many thanks Ouro! That was the intention 🙂 Bring the atmosphere of the space/building a bit closer to the virtual world of internet!
I actually performed there several times. I was not aware what an important builing it is. I will go there soon again!
Watching this, I don't know if we build better nowadays. This is simply timeless. Its an example of how architecture is the greatest preserver of art overtime.
one of the best video on Mies Van Der Rohe's works. The video was very detail really helping to see all the details in his works.
Thank you Genam! 🙏
The Barcelona Pavilion and the Farnsworth House, two of the most beautiful designs of the 20th century
This video was beautiful. It honored the architecture wonderfully.
Ow! Thanks BritD :) I am happy you liked it
Please it would be great and interesting you do a full video about The Brick Country House Project, i think is one the less famous projects of Mies but not least important than others. Congratulations ! ! ! you´ve done an excellent documentary ! ! ! !
I have only seen pictures of this before to see the spaces as a whole really makes a difference.
Thank you for the expose! I can never have enough of Mies's style!???Such purity - such simplicity....
Love Mies Van Der Rohe’s work.
I was able to visit the building about 4 years ago with my then architecture student son. Proof that details are of ultimate importance. Just look at how the marble pieces are seamed and the reflctions in the fountains. I do need to remind you that he and the Bauhouse were responsible for the Brutalist school; not all ofwhich was beautiful and became a great influence on Stalinist era construction in Eastern an Central Europe
Muy bien y genial
I've watched all the previous videos and you really brought your work to a whole new level in this one. Looking forward to the next ones
that was just perfect, the music choice, the words and etc,
keep up the good work, you are very inspiring!
greetings from turkey

Excellent video. Beautiful footage of the building combined with a host of references and comparisons to give an overview of the architectural context. Brilliant!
Thank you for the work and research. Excellent overview and context. May you one day be the proud owner of a 'Barcelona chair.' BTW, Mies is one of my all time favourites as well. Best.
OMG this video is so amazing! Keep the good work!
I really like your respectful, light but precise style of documenting - well done, thank you!
Very Nice !!!! Timeless ....
Great video, well presented. It took me back to 2004 when I visited the Mies-terpiece with two of my sons, my younger son sat on one of the chairs, the security guy was a bit shocked and politely told him not to. I got a photo of the statue ‘morning’ with myself striking the same pose.
It's good it was rebuilt, as it represents the beginning of so much architecture around the world. The book matched stone panels are a wonderful example of Mies' preference for high end materials. The Farnsworth House was saved at the last minute by a consortium of bidders, and can be viewed by the public.
thank you. for sharing such beautiful passion and life
Just fantastic! The clean lines of Mies van der Rohe are an enrichment in my life and you presented it accordingly. Highly appreciated and I hope you keep on doing this kind of videos. Thank you very much!
You did wonderful work! Thank you for it. This pavilion is my love.
I live near a Mies building, actually, I go there to plug my car every week, I live in Montreal and he designed a couple of buildings here, a service station that has been transformed into a trans-generational cultural centre, an apartment building and another multi-purpose building near downtown Montreal in Westmount. they are among my favourites building here.
Very well researched, compelling and informative, lovely music choice and creative photography. Nice work.
Thank you Jerome!
Thank you for this presentation. Beautiful integrity!
Just found your channel. Its simply amazing. Please never stop doing them
Thanks Rudolf. There is more content coming soon! - Sorry its taking so long between videos though.
So informative and so beautiful!! I was looking for info for exam of history of architecture and found your chanel. That is so sensitive with all the detailing that you are giving and also the love for the architecture in common ( not for one project but to the proces of it) thank you for your job and waiting for next one!
Thanks a lot Marta! I wanted to bring a slightly different vision to the projects, as the projects are almost always shown in static, and architecture has the quality of the feeling along time.
ps. More videos coming soon!
Amazing video,I love the way you structured the video. Everything about the video is inspiring!
Very beautiful. Thanks
thank you for this. i have been a fan of MVDR for so long but never delved into his profile. Thank you for this informative overview.
Your video capture the perfect moments of the pavilion. I saw a palace of modern era.
Gracias
Loved the vid, thanks a lot! I could watch it over and over again! Such beauty!
An excellent study of this project. I feel that you especially love this building, like I do ! I was there with a group and could not hardly leave and almost missed the bus. Good that you show the previous work of Mies and the context. Your videos are getting better all the time and they were already very good !
Thanks a lot Hans. I think the context, specially in this projects, is what made them so important. How advanced and refined the ideas where, at the time.
If you like architecture and you haven't visited this place...You are missing something truly special.
I went there a few years ago after partying all night with Cava for New Years Eve. It was a hard day but I was really impressed by this pavilion and would definitely go back when I visit Barcelona again. Don’t miss it when you go there.
I was in Barcelona a few years ago and it didn’t occur to me that it might still be there. I wish I’d seen it.
Fantastic !
Thnx for your efforts !

I'm really grateful for this video. I was doing a course and was tasked with an assignment and couldn't find much insight over the Barcelona Pavelion about its structures, relations with other projects, and so on. Your documentation is so good that I haven't lost attention over the whole video for a single second and was much engaged. Hoping to see more content like it. Keep up the good work.
