- At a press conference on Thursday, March 22, 2024, Massachusetts General Hospital announced a team from its Transplant Center completed the world’s first successful genetically-edited pig kidney transplant into a live human. The pig kidney, which was specifically bred and genetically-edited for human compatibility, was transplanted into Mr. Rick Slayman of Weymouth, Massachusetts, on Saturday, March 16, 2024 during a four-hour procedure.
