- In 2023, no automobile on earth found more homes in more driveways and garages than Elon Musk's prodigal son, the Tesla Model Y. But is its success deserved? It sold the most, but is it the best? We will try to figure that out today with this review of the 2024 Tesla Model Y Performance. We will look at its egg-shaped styling, the many poles of its powertrain, measure out the cargo space, looking a the passenger room, and the convenience and safety features.

This thing is amazing. A family sized SUV that runs 0-60 in 3.5 second while burning no gas. I'm interested.
I tried uber over the holidays just to see what it was all about. The only ones really making money is Uber. Tag on commercial ins each ride, binder commercial policy required for my car policy. Wear and tear and a couple of close calls with people that hD spent too much time st the bars. That and be required to take a dog, that wasny optional, I passed. I retesting experience
The non performance is like 4.8 and you can unleash a few more hp if you want to pay for it. It knocks off 5 secs.
Fun fact- This video is 12 minutes long, 11 of which were spent telling us that the Tesla Model Y was the best selling car in the US last year
Does it ride smoother in comfort mode with adaptive suspension than the regular Y suspension?
If you want to open front trunk or really do anything, just push the steering wheel right wheel in and use the voice command.. So easy to do everything.. !
I have one just like it and absolutely love it, it's very quick and handles pretty darn good. Traded a 23 Outback Wilderness, sort of miss the ride but that's about it, never bonded with the CVT but still a great car.

Best all around Suv you can buy, test drove one this weekend and it was powerful, comfortable, handles great, and has all the tech features. You can pick one up cheap especially with the price cuts and 7500 tax credit.

Are you guys / gals tinting the moonroof? I’ve had several tint providers in my area state that they don’t like to tint moonroofs because of the potential for shattering / exploding?
I have had three Teslas, two model 3 and a Y, never tinted the moonroof on any. It stays surprisingly cool for the size.
I have a 2023 model Y performance and it gets pretty hot out here in California in the summer and I was looking into tinting my glass roof as well, but like you said, I've heard of it shattering and cracking so what I did I just got sunshade and it works just fine👍🏾
This one has Michelin tires! Great! I've seen Pirelli as well. No Hankook pls, it is too soft in the sidewalls.
Hey if U go into the set up menu and select track settings.. U can change the power to each motor. Ie. (545hp) 100% to rear motor to do drifting and burn outs , or select more power or balance of the motors to the front and rear say 60/40% if your driving in slalom roads like In the Mountains … These cars really have a lot more to them than just an “old electric motor car” ha for us old school diehard types it’s definitely a change.. I came from some nice powerful Lexus car.. a GSF & also my RCF and the wife’s GS350 F Sport.. This car with navigation and self driving can also drive itself.. It’s Just leaps ahead of the others..

Test drove a MYp and it’s wild. If you mash the pedal from a stop, you can literally feel all 4 tires and traction control fighting for grip as it takes off like a rocket. $45,000 for a 3.5 0-60 vehicle is insane. Not many vehicles you’ll lose to from a stop light

I know I was shocked that was in there! Blockbuster was way long gone by them thime the Tesla Model Y was a thing. I honestly say that sort of as a joke with cars when I'm shooting B Roll for the Navi systems.
I like my 2022 Model Y Performance but I hate how there is literally NO tire coverage and have to pay full price to replace a tire. I had to replace 3 in less than 2 years and it came to be $1,700. Other than that, good and fun car

I just bought a Modle "Y" Long range. I had considered the Performance model, but range was important to me. I'll tolerate sub 5 second 0-60 times that comes with the l The Tesla center screen design didn't take handed people into consideration
Enjoy extra few miles. Long range is ugly, im sure people think you’re an Uber driver.
Good video, but, "The safety features are run of the mill" ...you may want to rethink that!. It is the safest car on the road exceeding 5 star safety standards in many categories.

With all due respect, this should be called a feature overview and not a review. What were your pros? Cons? You didn’t appear to have the app which is a huge part of the Tesla experience. That multi-camera view you wanted? It’s in the app. Want to open the frunk without going to the touchscreen? Use the app. Seriously, the app is required to do a review of a Tesla. Also, once you live with one for a few months you don’t understand the nuances (atleast if you love learning about technology). Such things as preconditioning the battery before supercharging so it charges as fast as possible in the least amount of time. Most stops on a long trip are 15 minutes or less or you are doing it wrong. I’ve had my model Y LR for 7 months and had a 2018 Honda Accord 2.0T before this car. It's definitely not perfect either. I don’t miss the gas lines at Costco but I do miss the simple windshield wiper controls from my previous gas cars. Tesla autosteer (the basic free cruise control) is 10 times better than any cruise control I’ve ever used before in my Honda, Ford, and Mazda cars though.
All that said keep up the good work on this channel! I like watching car reviews and can see your channel getting more popular in time.
I was going to say I have ‘18 2.0t as well! I don’t plan to part with it since I want to keep a gas car in the event a future Tesla or EV is in the shop or worked on. The Honda is reliable in nature but I have had little to medium issues on it since it’s the 1st time Honda used a turbo in an accord. Nothing to do with the turbo it’s solid. Just other things.. Nowadays it’s good but like you said not perfect. It is quick though haha it surprises many onlookers. I would get a model Y LR but seeing that I like sporty cars I might try for the performance. If it’s out of my budget in the end I will be fine with the LR which is 1 sec faster than my 2.0t Honda w/10 spd auto.
@corpuzone Yeah I loved my still night pearl color accord but couldn't refuse the $20k trade in Tesla offered for my 5 year old car. Highway noise is a lot less in the Tesla and the instant acceleration has to be experienced to understand the paradigm shift EV cars are bringing to the equation. I do miss siriusxm in the tesla and the timeshifting radio.
I just traded in my petrol hungry X5M for this exact car last month and it is just great. I love the larger wheels, and lowered suspension of the Performance package. This thing arrived perfect and fit finish easily equal to my X5M. They have come a long ways. Its a blast to drive both fast and slow.

Have a 2022 Y performance and hands down best car ive owned. Easily tows boat and family. Fun on the mountain roads and cheap to run and maintain.

I'm looking at a used 2022 Y performance. What would you have choose? Used Y performance 2022 or Used Y long range 2023?
@bgo4719 I love the performance Y, the only reason I would get a long range is if you want the 7 seat option or a smoother ride. The 23 has the updated suspension. But honestly, you can't go wrong with either.
Can you do a comparison between Model Y and Honda CRV Hybrid AWD?

I'm ready to buy and looking at both. I'm leaning towards the Tesla y performance because I want something new and different (already owned a couple crvs).
The Tesla Model Y Performance is a very fast car in any context, but getting out of any CR-V into a Y Performance will feel like going from a Cesna to an SR-71. The passenger room is probably a bit better in a Model Y too. The biggest thing I would warn you about is you're going from a car that historically has fantastic resale value (CR-V) to a car that currently depreciates like you pushed it off a bridge. If you really plan on keeping the Tesla for 8+ years, fine who cares about depreciation. But if you might get rid of it after a few years, lease the Tesla. Let it be Elon's problem after three years and walk away.

When you drive enough electric cars, and you let down the petrolhead guard that so many put up, you'll find not every EV drivetrain is the same. Many sound different, feel different, have different tuning - just like any car. It's completely nonsense that electric cars don't have personality, you're just not letting yourself see that personality.
Please do not use TMA PLUS products, they shipped damaged and fake products, nightmare to work with their customer server, they refuse any mistakes... What they ship you for Promotion is different from what they ship to regular customers... This is wrong and needs to be reported
Just compare gas expenses, safety, and all over charging stations….that is the focus…plus global warming👍👍👍👍👍
I'm in Berlin and Model Y Performance is all over the place now. The German made version are very popular and we like it a lot. Even BMW Elektroauto not as popular because of the ugly look.
Most of the updates come with the technology in the vehicle. You sound annoyed that it’s the same awesome looking vehicle. Are they supposed to add a different line or groove to a quarterpanel or make it less aerodynamic so it can be a new model year design? If you want it to look different get a wrap or add some accessories. But to think that the Ford Mustang has now ended up as the design of the Mustang Mach-E so they could make changes every year is not progress. It looks disgusting. Had to stop watching because of the annoying inflection every time you said something. Good luck to you.

Your exposure is completely blown out, and your audio is weird (left heavy and like you’re talking in the background).
When you’re filming in bright sunlight and can’t see the screen enough to judge exposure, use a histogram on screen to check that your levels are within the goalposts.
3:20 - oh boy. Electric motors all the same. 🤦♂️. They’re all the same like car/truck engines are the same. Wide variety of characteristics. They’re all quiet.
I'm sure from an engineering point of view electric motors have a wide variety of differences, but from the driver's seat in a car, the only difference that can be felt is how fast it is. There is no personality to the powertrains.
