- Hafnarfjörður is only 20 minutes away from central Reykjavík. This bustling port is Iceland’s third-largest town, with a population of over 28,000. It offers intriguing volcanic scenery and a variety of attractions and activities.
Information about the tour:
02:40 - We enter Hellisgerði. A enchanting park with pathway twists around a lovely pond and in-between lava rocks, which buckle and fold into tiny caves and mysterious nooks.
03:10 - That house is The Little Elf Store. A shop and a small café
where you can borrow a lunch basket and blanket for picnics in the park.
05:10 - Bjarni Sívertsen. Father of Hafnarfjörður. Knighted by the King of Denmark.
11:50 - Siggubær. The seaman Erlendur Marteinsson built Sigga’s house in 1902. His daughter, Sigríður (Sigga) Erlendsdóttir, was 10 years old when she moved into the house and she lived there until the year 1978, when she moved to Sólvangur, a local nursing home. Her house has been preserved as an example of the home of a labourer and a seaman in Hafnarfjörður at the beginning of the 20th century. There you can experience and get to know how the common people of the town lived at the time.
14:44 - Hafnarfjörður museum.
16:00 - Hafnarfjörður library to the left.
17:23 - Fríkirkjan. Church of the Free Lutheran congregation of Iceland. A wedding is taking place.
26:25 - Hafnarfjörður pond.
28:12 - Here once stood Hafnarfjörður dairy farm.
35:35 - Looking over port of Hafnarfjörður.
37:04 - Hotel Viking. A viking themed hotel and restaurant.
37:47 - Fjörukráin. Here you can get traditional meals served in old-fashioned Viking-style trays.
40:00 - Odinn.

Hafnarfjörður's old town is so beautiful, perhaps the most beautiful in whole Iceland.

What I love about Icelandic cities is that the streets are not only clean, but also well-groomed. In my city, there is also no garbage on the streets and the walls and streets are washed, but unfortunately the wild vegetation (bushes, trees, grass on the lawns) is not mown and grows by itself. This makes me sad.

The author (not me) tells what a very nice and beautiful city it is. Despite the fact that Krasnoyarsk is very often included in the top 5 cities in the WORLD with the worst air.
The main air problem here is not industrial plants. Our city is cold enough. More than a million inhabitants live in it. Therefore, you need to generate a lot of heat. But it is produced by burning coal, not gas.

@@MrMolack Unfortunately not. In fact my family had planned a visit to Canada last year. To Winnipeg actually. We were also planning on going to Seattle in the US. But then the pandemic hit the world. I would love to visit Canada and go to Montreal. You live there?

No it was actually shot in early august. We have snow and ice now 🙂

Was the video filmed in the summer or is it such a warm November in Iceland?
I filmed it in August but only uploaded it now. So no it has actually been very cold recently and we have some snow and ice now ☺️

I have two technical questions about shooting your videos.
1. All of your videos have low mechanical noise. What is it from?
2. How do you make your footage smoother when walking? Are you using some kind of camera stabilization system?
I'm working on fixing the noise. I think it comes from the gimbal's motor being to close to the gopro mic. I have acquired a external microphone to eliminate this noise. About the smoothness, it is a combination of gimbal stabilisation, gopro hypersmooth feature and a certain gait technique when walking ☺️

do any Icelandic towns and villages have town centres? They all seem to be suburbs in of themselves with no central square or place where shops, services and people gather.
Yes for sure some of them do. But many of them are not very extravagant.

I would move there right now!! Too sad it's so hard to get work permit or whatever permit being Latin American :'( and this particular place looks very expensive as well
