- I still might have one more crack at this, no dupes or the OOB in chapter 11 are east time saves and I didn't end up beating all my old fights. This run would be 01:49:17 RTA.
Some of these are going to be damn near impossible to best though so I don't think I will get every last second of possible gain there is but I think sub 01:38:00 is definitely doable.
Very happy with the run though, the new route takes about 3 and a half minutes in just essence farming alone and the Emperor 2 one shot is a solid 25 second time save. The rest came from better movement and menus along with faster clears for some fights.
If you're wondering how Ryu gets warped straight to the Murai fight at the end it's done by continuing after dying to him previously. This will skip the platforming and doesn't add to the in game timer.
I showed in the BTS streams how I edit the saves, I go frame by frame in the editor and clip it on the first frame after the interact prompt has gone away. The in game timer does not count time spend at save statues, I'm not sure if it triggers the frame you press X but this way keeps it consistent across all saves as sometimes it takes a little longer for the save menu to come up.

Thanks, my menuing has gotten much cleaner. It's something that I didn't really put much emphasis on prior to speed running but it does make a huge difference.

Always happy to see a new video posted. Any plans on doing a commentary version of it? Totally understandable if not, but it's always a joy hearing your thought process/discussion around where things could improve.
I was thinking of doing one I just have a few videos in the works at the moment. Aside from the time saves there isn't much to say though. If I go back and do one more I will though as that will be the last one. This run can't really be pushed much further past 1h38m IGT

Never ceases to amaze me you dealing with bosses, but how do you do to keep essences floating between rooms, and after cut scenes???
well, isn't it normal to have essence floating for a little while even after cutscenes and stuff??

Just keep block held down and as long you don't take too long the essence will be around. Whether or not you can chain after cut scenes just depends on which it was, some don't despawn essence and some do. You just have to know which ones it applies to.

Congrats on the WR. The Fiend Sealer on the Flail Clone was delicious. Also, what happened to the video from Chapter 11 at 1:12:38 to the beginning of Chapter 12 ? Something wrong with your recording?
Yeah there was some weird shifting going on with that clip, it actually looked way worse in the editor prior to rendering. The clip was still usable thankfully as I was a good way through chapter 12 in the run before I noticed it.
What happened at chapter 16? 😂
If you mean the warp, if you chose continue when Fiend Murai kills you then the platforming is skipped and it doesn't add the game time. Something you can only do in Segmented
