  • Headed out to Victoria British Columbia from Banff Alberta for a few days through British Columbia 5 Highway. We had to deliver stuff to one of our kids, perfect road trip. We loaded up the 4Runner and headed through the Rockies, from Banff down through the Coquihalla highway (High Way Thru Hell) to Victoria BC (Vancouver Island). On our return we drove the Crowsnest Highway back and stayed in an awesome log cabin. We totaled over 3000 kilometers in the gen5 TRD Off Road 4Runner, now that's a road trip!

Wow thank you Perry. It's a pretty epic road trip! But to thoroughly cover that stretch you would need to take a year off because there's so much to see and do👍🍻

Hey Jimmy, great video and a beautiful trip. Gotta love the mountains, rivers and lakes. Out of this whole trip, I really enjoyed the cabin, I love me some old cabin videos with the woo stove going and a couple of Old Milwaukee's. Thanks for the tour.

Epic epic Post Jimmy….one of your best ever! I’ve driven those same routes, roads, towns, cities and Ferries countless times so I felt I was riding in that 4Runner beside you. As a Canadian from out west we get jaded as to how spectacular the land, Mountains, Ocean and scenery are….I’m so glad you were able to Post this for those who have never had a chance to see where we live! Hope your journey ends safely and I’m with you….that Hope Princeton Highway is a bit of a white knuckler….not my Cup of tea actually! Cheers man, keep the Old Milwaukee on ice, keep Momma safe and hope you make it back soon….I really wanna see that “new” truck of your…..

Thanks Gerry for this awesome comment. Yeah that Crowsnest Highway coming through Princeton is a twisty one. To me it looks way deadlier than they Coquihalla. I can't imagine that in the snow storm, LOL.

Wow, what a trip. Incredible footage all along the way. Great cabin. Wish I could have smelled the evergreens with you. In Michigan, we have had some incredible sunsets due to those fires. Thanks for sharing and glad all went well. Have a great fall.

Thanks Tom for the awesome comment. Yeah the sunset with all that smoke in the air is pretty amazing. A few years ago we had some serious smoke here and it looked like something out of a Zombie Apocalypse movie 😆

Enjoyed the tour, and the music! Been to and through many of those highways and towns in the past, so brought back many good memories. Spectacular country out there for sure.
Ya can't go wrong with a Toyota Matrix XRS. Just sold my 2009 Matrix 5 speed with close to 400K on it for 2K! To my surprise, its headed to Africa, were they are highly sought after cars (even with high mileage).
I always referred to my Matrix as a poor man's pickup - the front passenger seat folds flat, so it can swallow up 8 foot timber and the hatchback will still close! I even stuffed a Pelican sled into it late one fall loaded up with an 8 point buck - and yes I have a photo to prove it!

Thanks mr. Birch for the awesome comment and Matrix info. I was truly blown away by this thing once I started picking through it, it's bloody amazing. Another awesome Toyota for sure. And like you said that cargo area is amazing. And the interior is tough-as-nails, it still looks brand new 👍👍🍻

We came back from Kelowna yesterday in late afternoon. And sure enough on highway 5 going down we caught nasty rain and wind and poor visibility but all the trucks still go around 120+ so we follow along. A bit scary honestly. I would not want to be there during winter.

Definitely crazy speed limits, coming from California where everyone speeds like crazy. The speed limit on the Coq in the summer was 130 so you can get away with 140. Which is much faster than most Californians would even be speeding on highways.
