I like how she says, "He wanted me before I was smart." It's basically pointing out how her grandmother only wanted her for her intelligence. A kid who can realize that really is . . . Gifted.
not necessarily, kids are very often "gifted" that way, they look past most of grown-ups' crap. But the fact that social services or the court doesn't realise that, now that means they're the opposite of gifted.
This line is so important! That grandmother doesn't give a shit about mental well-being and living life for the sake of it. Mary didn't even know who she was before WTF
He should keep that role, up - this is a nice follow up ... quiet, nice kid friendly film - no psychological horror, action set piece , etc or ugh romantic comedy.
SuperOmnicron And risking of being typecasted? Thanks, but no thanks. 😱👎 I like that he's doing different genre, it means he's willing to experiment and "challenge" himself....never a bad thing for an actor.
Chris doesn't want to star in films - he wants to make them. He's kinda waiting until a certain thing happens to Captain America so he can start directing films instead.
+moiraine_damodred my problem is divys like use am not up tight am telling ya how it is.just enjoy the film trailer for what it is instead of ya matilda crap what ever you saying ...
+Anikwa Zulu Yep... Chris Evans is it.. Lol. Seriously though this looks like we'll see him in another good role. I liked Push. The guy doesn't get the credit for his acting abilities taking away stupid romcoms and cap. He's better than that.
Oh wow. I literally streamed this movie immediately after seeing this trailer because it intrigued me so much. And can I just say, the past 101 minutes have been extraordinarily emotional. I love this film with all my heart.
This is the cutest thing in the world. And Chris Evans mixed with cuteness is honestly a deadly combination and I just can't deal with this. Now I'm struggling to decide if I wanna watch this heartwrecking movie or not..... but Chris Evans as a fatherly figure, though.
Plot twist: That boring evil blondie is Hydra Cameo: Stan Lee will be the old lawyer. Ending: Girl gets kidnapped by Thanos Post credits scene: It happens after Civil War and sets up Infinity War for Custody!
Just finished this and I am absolutely shocked on how amazing it was, I thought it was going to be a little cute thing but the plot twists are ridiculously well planned
I think there is already a mother and ever woman and a father in every man, you don't need to conceive to become parents and the bond between this girl and his uncle is not less than a real father and sister. This movie is very close to my heart and I feel all my emotions inthere every second of it.
The Reviewer I bet that will be the turning point in the 3rd chapter of the film. There will be a scene where chris is arguing with the grandma about her life in front of her, then she will be like, "WHAT ABOUT WHAT I WANT?? NO ONE VEER ASKED ME....." you know how the rest goes.
This will definitely go to my all time favorite collection... In 2 days I have already watched it twice... Chris Evans rocks, he has nailed it with his portrayal Uncle
I saw this film a week ago and I loved it. Chris's performance was awesome. He could be someone's daddy or uncle or both. lol. The rest of the cast was great too especially Freddie the cat.
This kid would create an amazing invention then kill herself from the reality that people far less intelligent than herself have taken control of of it and her this is the world we live int
Facebook, social media are examples of what he said. Smart phones that you begin to sweat when your battery dies. Several of the creators regret their hand in what has become an the worst kind of dependency. Well, not Zuckerberg.
I was gonna write a comment about how amazing and beautiful one of the scenes in this movie was, .........Before realizing that the whole movie is beautiful and really emotional.
I don't usually like to boast about my intelligence, but this movie really hits home. for my whole life I've had the ability to push myself into much higher levels of everything I'm in right now, but I haven't. my teachers have told me to, but I never have. I want to enjoy the little time I have to be completely care free. I need to. I want my childhood to be there as something to blissfully look back on, not something to regret.
It's always the same big question with gifted children. What do we do with them ? Through the normal education or do we push them ? The real problem is actually emotionnally. Through the "normal" system, gifted people tend to be rejected and they have a hard time adapting. And if we push them, we alienate them.
Zefudge From experience, I can tell you that we should push them, but in a different way. Sorry for the wall of text! At this point we're talking about the education system as a whole, which is inherently flawed. My intelligence, love for writing and reading, and my understanding of the world around me boomed when I went to a Montessori school. My reading level went from one grade above me to five grades above me in two years, and my writing followed. I was pushed to be the best I could be, but at the same time, it was also happening to the kids around me. The teacher wasn't sitting everyone down at once and teaching. She was going to each student and using a constructed lesson that she had made with other teachers for each kid. Then, she let the kids loose and instead of motivation being high grades it was simply being able to learn new stuff. kids interacted with each other a lot more than they do in public school, and one kid being in a higher level than another didn't exclude him from his peer group in this school at all. He was still in the same classroom, unlike in public school. He didn't feel alienated for being smarter or dumber than anyone else because that didn't matter to him. It's a whole system that's at fault for doing this to our kids, and charter schools and private schools are pretty much the only good, proper schooling that kids can get in the US. I recommend watching boyinaband's video about this, it's called you don't legally have to go to school. It explained a lot more than what I just did.
he is such a good looking guy and funny too. He seems also pretty down to earth. Can't wait to see him in this movie...I love him as a superhero but I never saw him in this kind of movie.
Please tell me how this trailer didn’t come up until 4 years after it came out. This movie looks so cute, and now I’m 4 years late to it. Great, just great.
This kid doesn't seem as though she knows what she wants only that she wants to stay with her uncle. He's not trying to hold her back, he's trying to raise her as her mother would have wanted, to have a childhood. So I don't really see any strong similarity between this and either Matilda or Good Will Hunting.
So Captain America (Chris) is now in the X-Men Universe (FOX) and has a mutant child who some people want to send to Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. Imagine how weird this would be if they just recast EVERYONE from the Marvel movies into this movie. Iron Man is the teacher, Cap is the dad, I guess whoever plays the girl would still play the girl, Thor could be the judge who smashes a miniature Mjolnir on the desk, and so on. Personally I think the movie would get WAY more views than I think it will now.
I like how she says, "He wanted me before I was smart." It's basically pointing out how her grandmother only wanted her for her intelligence. A kid who can realize that really is . . . Gifted.
yeah that's true
not necessarily, kids are very often "gifted" that way, they look past most of grown-ups' crap. But the fact that social services or the court doesn't realise that, now that means they're the opposite of gifted.

so... is this a Matilda remake? I mean it looks decent but it seems extremely similar.
Only this time, no mean neglectful parents. Just straight up promises and hope.
It doesn't look like she'll get any super powers, so it's not Matilda. I think it's much closer to Good Will Hunting.
This kid doesn't seem as though she knows what she wants only that she wants to stay with her uncle. He's not trying to hold her back, he's trying to raise her as her mother would have wanted, to have a childhood. So I don't really see any strong similarity between this and either Matilda or Good Will Hunting.
The only similarity with Matilda is that the main little girl is academically advanced. Otherwise, it's a completely different movie.
I've watched the movie and it's different apart from the great academic achievements.
This has to be my favorite movie of all times.
This was actually a really great movie. Best one I've seen in a while.
