He's amazingly humble. Only an enormous human being can be that way.
i have watched every video from this series and i must say that every video is great and inspiring.Big thanks to Guthrie and to Guitar World for letting us watch this videos for free.
now i am going to play my guitar and try these things.cheers!
I think you is the most natural and talented guitarist, teacher and all round nice guy on the planet. Humble, self-effacing and kind. You are an inspiration. Thank you for sharing your talent.
"you might like this on it's own, it's quite... intervallic and amusing". amusing... indeed... made my day :D what a genius, and extremely likable, too. great guy, love him!
I love his strange smiles between each sentence, it's fucking great. On a more serious note my brain is now mush
Wherever he goes, he's always best musician in the room!
This guy is great. Great teaching, explains why he does things, leaves it open to interpretation, uses the gift of vocabulary, polite. Makes me want to invite him over for a BBQ!
11yrs later and I agree😂
i love this guy !
I've been waiting for part two!
Thank you, Guitar World!
Best column on this magazine for sure !!
January 2012 issue of Guitar World Magazine is going to be worth the wait that's for sure !
Another impressive guitar lesson by what I think is the top guitar instructor in on EARTH Guthrie Govan ..
thanks for sharing the new video guitar world .
John
Govan: "dagududaguduh"
CZcams Captioning Department: "indicated they could in fact i don't think you can think of the back of the picture"
Fantastic!
He joked how he's not one of those "Jennifer Batten full on 8-finger tapping people."
I just looked up Jennifer Batten and she is amazing! Thanks Guthrie, not only do you open my mind as to what can happen with a guitar but you also lead me to other awesome musicians like her and Art Tatum (mentioned in another Professor Shred video).
He says "TJ Helmerich, Jennifer Batten..."
Cool! I love it!
Did I just hear something like "I can't do that"?? guess I'm mistaken..
It's more like "I dont want do that" ;)
Brilliant!
Yes, exactly. What he said.
I've no clue wether you can get it already or not ... but that could help according to guthries problem with his first finger while tapping Chris Brodderick devloped and patented a thing you can attach your pick to your thumb so you can really do 8 finger tapping if someone is really up to do crazy stuff like that
Wow! Who knew? Guthrie is a Beast! I am absolutely enthralled, by His Musical acumen. Please teach Me more?
For me he is the biggest and most complete guitarist of our time. He can do everything. It's almost as if an athlete is practicing all sports professionally.Great
He plays with stunning technique but it always remains musical.
PART SIX!? :D I want part six...it makes me sad that I have reach the end :c
I wish guthrie would teach us the rhythm to one of his songs! They're one of the hardest part of some songs!
epic deputy, each one of those fingers and get a feeling as independent as possible.
@DistortedV12 umm read the magazine? or guitar world's website might put the tab up later
Hey Guthrie -- Niels Vejlyt uses the pressure of his thumb to slide his pick all the way up to the wrist joint of his index finger and wedge it there. That gets the pick out of the way when he is in tapping mode, and allows him to do a full 8 finger tapping, rather than only 7, because of the interference of the pick when it is tucked in the carpal / metacarpal fold of his index finger.
His thumb then slides the pick back down to the business position between his thumb and index finger when it is needed for flat picking. By practicing this "sliding the pick up and down your index finger" technique, you can get to where you can alternate between flat picking and tapping quite readily. Just an idea...
Literally noone:
Wayne: Hold My Beer
@DinoandDansMusic you actually can do pinch harmonics with those picks
yup this guy is awesome :P
G: "That's an odd bit"
YTCD: "massive orbit"
great teacher but so humble
Omg the automatic captions turned on are hilarious
This is why thumb picks are awesome pointer finger is always free when you want it.
good
HERO
@Daan7000 Have you seen his gear tour on premier guitar?
MASSIVE ORBIT
@feet2oofast @JosephOdonellMusic Yes, that is what i was thinking of too but now I saw this other video were he has it on the 5th fret so I was wondering if it might be some sort of capo?
Chris broderick needs to release that pick clip of his... Even guthrie needs one!!
i put my pic between my thumb and index finder and when i wanna get it back i simply slide it down with my thumb
What is that string muting device that he is using?
Well in another 2000 years guitarist can't say naw Guthrie never existed they'll find his videos archived somewhere and the new generations will still be amazed.
get a pick with a little strap which goes on ur thumb, chris broderick does it so u can use ur index finger to tap while holding ur pick, the only loss is u cant use ur thumb for pinch harmonics
gotta love this dude xD \\m//
when will the professor shred 6 come out?
My trick for holding the pick while tapping is, I use my thumb to hold the pick on the back side of the neck.
I can bear witness to that.

DEATHHHH STAREEEEE
U r a fkn genius.
you might like that on it's own.
it's intervalic and.... amusing
Guthrie Govan: Da-ga-da-ga-da-ga da-ga-da-ga-da-ga da
Automatic captions translation: Indicated they could in fact i don't think you can think of the back of the picture.
Ok
Simon Svensson I had “back into digger to take it to that I don’t thinking that they can’t attack at the thick”
@charlieparradelriego hey you're a subscriber too?
Oh my god... this seems to be one of the hardest tapping licks in the world... Oo
I will try this in... maybe... some years... (Though I´d say, I´m not bad at all...)
I need to know why he has that sweatband/hairband just behind the top nut
To stop un needed string noise
i hear him say 'Ah'. First mistake of him I've seen on youtube. This proves he's human. Not a creature from other planet.
bad asteroid
Did he actually say, 'I cant do that'...? BULLSHIT he can do anything! :P
I didn't know Gandalf gave guitar lessons!
Hmmm....adore Guthrie's playing and aesthetic, but I'm a bit confused right now. He said six notes per beat, but then said "Dac-uh-da, dig-uh-da, dig-uh-da, and tapped the beat on the guitar in between. That would lead me to believe there is in fact 9 notes in the phrase and not 6. If I am correct in this thinking, I hope it helped anybody else that was confused. Enjoy!
in a sense yes, thought 24th notes dont technically exist lol but yh ur right. always three in the space of 2
ummm tabs please??
I WANT TABS!!!!
GIMME GIMME GIMME!!!!!!!!!!!
@ThunderhorseEX They look like twins! \m/
this fuckin guy has guitar masstered
a better idea to store the pick I guess is to get one of Chris Broderick (Megadeth)'s thumb storage things that look like a thumb pick but allows him to 8 finger tap...but it looks natural to Guthrie anyway.
Oh my god turn on the captions in english i am fucking dying hHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
16th note triplets=24th notes?
Would have liked to hear how to play the intro, actually.
Because of the new and shitty CZcams's home page, i didn't see this right away.... -_-
students there. with regards to this hands, are not really one of these seat sale mores, jennifer batson for long night finger tapping people, they cant do that. but because what to do is about trying to get a big time, answering every nine its on the species as i can. and what seems to uh....with my hand as if i used to fingers for any given time. and the two patterns which keep cropping up all, the middle ring fingers together, old middle and little things together.
Hi I'm a drummer and what's this?
Bad Guthrioid
"not quit the same on the b string" = "not quite the same on the streets". Shit like that makes me piss myself. Thanks for the idea :))
HAHAHHAHAHHAHH THANK YOU FOR TELLING ME THIS I WOULD NEVER TURNED IT ON IF IT WASNT FOR YOU. ROFLMAO!
Oh, that felt weird, it's like you're changing strings at the wrong time he says hahahha
4:01 . . . Choo choo
I just come here to listen to him talk, makes me feel more knowledgeable. Kinda like a TED video i guess.
What kind of guitar (brand) is he using?
Kyle Swaters suhr
Jethro Tull is back
What guitar he using
Suhr...not sure of the model!!
@@neonether antique modern, I think
At least Guthrie exists.
Funny how this and "part1" have 1 dislike that's obviously from a guy who hates Guthrie for being so much better than he is:)
No, he's actually right. Btw, a dotted 16th becomes longer, not shorter...
Don't for JEFF WATSON (Night Ranger) don't tell me you love me 8 finger tap solo.He said he practiced on a 12 string acoustic to develop his dexterity.....
My life is now inadequate
NIGGA Y SO CRAZZIE
I know man what's that all about ? Those Automatic captions rally need looking at. It's about 80 percent right but the 20 percent that's wrong is well funny.
That tapping is part of a Aristocrats song
Hes never seen Buckethead
Captions on to laugh :P
no wonder so many people have died for no reason over the past 2000 years. Jesus has been away learning guitar! and I have to say... TIME WELL SPENT!
E che cazzoooo!! Brucio tutto 🔥🔥🔥😡😡
Nice British Smile :DDDD
@EarthNaturalHealth And a charismatic fellow to boot. No I'm not homosexual. Well, unless I get dinner and a movie out of it..
@brosaguitar lol he is the god of guitar but thats not an excuse.
Guthrie did a workshop in Durban recently- I've seen many guitarists, but I can't think of any with so much depth. He seems to be able to do it all (and using only his amazing Suhr guitar). You have to see this man live. It will astound you, but really feed your inferiority complex!! I met him after the show, and he complained of playing badly. I wish I could play that bad! But it does demonstrate that you can never be satisfied with your playing.
3.24 He lies! He can do that with his toes blindfolded!
to squeeze six of these notes insulates base independent indicated they could in fact i dont think you can think of the back of the picture. celestron played first that citizens mirroring the job. its about financial aid from the as israel and wasting one of my best thing is by using its own stole the picture. if you have a better idea of different definition west indies fingers. and then moved to, erin here, massive orbit, below it looks like for principles of something close to four pencils
look!! I'ts Ol Drake!, xD
Guthrie is awesome but I'm sorry, I met Jesus in Sharm El Sheikh some years back and he was in fact a scuba diving instructor working for the Red Sea College. In fact, he signed my padi certificates when I qualified although he uses the name Steve. Everybody called him JC though ;0)
...I believe he had plans to move with his german girlfriend, to London and go back to commercial diving.
