What a lovely card and it's great to use ALL our stash!
I tend to keep my white scraps and just stamp greetings on them, but recently I dry embossed lots of card scraps with various folders, flagged one of the ends and glued them to the left hand side of a card base, added a sentiment, card done.

How is a grip mat different from a gel plate?

Thanks, Marguerite! The gel plate and grip mats look similar. Gel plates are made from plastic that contains mineral oil, and they look and feel like gelatin. They're great for printing as you can easily lift ink and paint from them. Grip mats are made from photopolymer, the same stuff that stamps are made from. They feel harder than a gel plate, and they are more 'sticky' so they grip things more firmly. I've seen people use gel plates like grip mats and grip mats like gel plates. But you get a bit of a different effect with them, so it's worth playing about and working out which one you prefer to use for which technique. Gel plates are a little more delicate than grip mats as they're imprint with anything left sitting on or under them. :)
