- This is my personal "kukri" field knife but honestly the blade shape resembles a falcata sword more than a kukri. That aside though, it's a great knife. I did change the handle grips and ordered a kydex sheath for it which would make it perfect for me.
I bought one and it is the Best cutting tool I've purchased. Thanks for Sharing
This is a Suripata style blade on the BK21
they don't have the bend at the spine like most Kukri blades but are very popular in Nepal and the blades traditional was not very thick like the one sold nowadays and especially the ones used in WWI & WWII 😊
I know this is an old video. Hope you are doing OK. I have a bunch of modern kukri knives. My BK21 has been stripped with a vinegar forced patina. The scales have been upgraded, and the blade has been convexed. It is a chopping machine, but I can make feather sticks with it. I find it very well balanced for its size, and I absolutely love it. The convex edge holds up remarkably well, too. Oh, and a kydex sheath is the way to go!
Hey, you've got some HUGE HANDS BRO!!! That's a pretty large knife and you make it look like as if "I" was holding a BK-7, lol... I just ordered that knife, and the scales, AND the sheath! But those scales you have on there brother, I ordered for my BK-7 & 9. They look great! The G-10 black and red for the 21. Great review. Got an up close look at that blade. The more I saw it, the more I liked it! I subscribed too...
Hey, thanks for the comments!
The blade shape is completely "Kukriesk" it was designed by one of the most knowledgeable and respected historical blade experts of the 20th century. You may want to research who Hank Reinhardt was.
There is quite a variety of traditional khukri shapes dependant on place of manufacture and intended task.
I thought the same thing when i first got mine in 2018. It doesnt seem very kukri like in its shape. Until i started researching kukri more thoroughly. There is no such thing as a single "traditional kukri" design. I have seen kukri, old ones, that the blade shape either exactly matches or is etremely similar to the bk21. There are so many shapes within the kukri style that it would be very difficult to disqualify any kukri like knife as a member of the kukri family. The only non traditional things about the bk21 would be the handle and maybe the grind. Kukri come in all thicknesses, some have the distinct angle to the spine, many do not. The bk21 is definitely worthy of the kukri designation. Great video, i'll be checking out more.
Hey, thanks for the comments!
Me personally believe this to be the best Kukri that is made in the United States , I took off the coating and then sand blasted the whole thing and put the micarta handles on it . Oh I also lightly blued it as well and with the sand blasting it looks quite unique in a good way . Yeah that sheath is garbage .
Hey, fully agree... Wow, I'd love to see your finished end product!
@@bladebruddahs6676 Me too it's sounds like a classy woods tool and weapon. ♠️♠️♠️
Wise choice on the Kydex sheath, as well as changing the scales. I did the same, going with Ka-Bar’s Micarta scales for a much better grip retention, than the smooth plastic pieces the knife came with. It is, as you say, reminiscent of the falcatta. Balance is good, it transitions quickly, and it is robust enough for serious social difficulties, thinness of the blade, vis-a-vis comparison with a Himalayan/Burma region produced blades. All in all, it’s a good compromise of lightness, yet sufficient reach. Very nice review, Sir. As you may guess, the Kukri, it’s design, history, and utility make it one of my favorites. Again, nicely done!
Thanks again for the comments! Always great to meet someone with the same enthusiasm for the kukri as myself. 😁
Looks like a nice piece.
Hi, thanks for the comment! Yeah it's a great chopper.
This looks more like a Parang. I have one and it will do the job, what ever the job is.
I gotta get some scales for my BK21 , 😎🎱😎
This was a very well done and detailed video. Could you make a video showing the thrusting capabilities of this knife? Thanks
Hey, thank you for the kind comment! I'll see what I can do. Been a bit busy handling some personal matters but I'll try my best to get back to you asap.
@@bladebruddahs6676 appreciate that! Also, where can we get those grips you have on there? The factory defaults are a bit too slippery in some scenarios
@@Visiblyblue No problem! I got mine from the Knife Connection - theknifeconnection.com/custom-handles/

Have you got the kydex sheath yet ? Be interesting to see how they pair up. ♠️🎱♠️
Thanks for the comments! Yes, I received the kydex sheath. Works quite well!
@@bladebruddahs6676 where did you get your Kydex sheath?
Do you know what is the maximum width ay the Belly? It is an amazing blade for sure!
Hey, thanks for the inquiry... At the thickest point it's about 0.2".
@@bladebruddahs6676 thank you very much!!
A devastating blade for sure
Thank you for the comment! Yes, it's definitely one of my favorites.
If a zombie apocalypse were to really happen, a kukri would probably be my weapon of choice besides an assault rifle lol. Anyways nice piece looks well made👍
Hahah... IF a zombie apocalypse really happened, to be honest, my preferred weapon would be a spear. That said though, the kukri serves both as a weapon as well as a utility blade.

Sorry to hear... It worked fine for me. Perhaps you have a proxy blocking certain sites?
Blade not 5/8 thicknesses
Hey, thank you for the comments! I didn't actually measure mine with calipers but I believe that was the documented thickness through the manufacturer.
Do you have one 1/4 inch thick ?
Hi, thanks for the comment but I don't actually make this product...
Hii
Hello, and thanks for viewing!
I had TKC G10 neon green and black scales on my BK21, I took them off and put them on my BK10 as I prefer the factory micarta scales U can buy on the BK21
