I work as a concession stand worker for the Chargers, and let me confirm to you that the only reason why food is so expensive is because they are indeed ripping you off. The games are at least 3+ hours long, people are gonna get hungry and we don't allow outside food in the stadium, so you gotta buy our food to eat. They also jack up the prices from other sports. For example, I also work LA Galaxy games. Galaxy drinks = $5/small, $6/large. Charger drinks = $6.50/small, $7.50/large. Same drinks, higher price. That's why I tell my folks to eat out first before going to the games.
*Also, "fresh" popcorn is just reheated popcorn in a warmer from 2 days ago, we don't actually cook anything, we just put it in a warmer, the hot dogs are frozen and reused on another event if not sold at the previous one, most of the food barely passes health code, etc etc* Concession secrets.
Don't buy concession food. It's pure overpriced shit.
TheHuskyK9 damn this was good information!
It's true. I've seen bags of popcorn delivered to the stadium only to spend time under the lights being reheated. The hot dogs are only on the rollers for show.
when u say a warmer is it something specific or ur referring to a basic microwave?
A warmer is a holding drawer or cabinet that holds the temp of cooked foods. It does not cook and is not a microwave.
chea!
400-600 dollars to attend a game for a family of four? That is preposterous and unbelievable.
As long as fools continue to pay, prices will continue to sky-rocket.
In Prague, it costs 15 dollars to watch hockey, and for some fast food, a beer, and a chocolate, add another 7 bucks.
what about movie theaters or concerts/festivals? is food and drink also that cheap? because here in the states it's also extremely expensive for food and drink at those places. it sucks lol
@@kylem1112 in Croatia, in Split is the best cinema in europe and you can get a ticket for a movie, big soda and big popcorn all together for like 6 dollars
WasWeiß Ich
that's insane..
@@kylem1112 yeah it is
In 1977, the Red Sox signed relief pitcher Bill Campbell to a free agent contract (one of the first they ever did), and raised ticket prices to pay for him. (Their only income was from Fenway Park, and broadcast licensing by Channel 38: 130 games on FREE TV !!!). Anyway, Red Sox fans were not happy. One fan hung a big sign that said, "RELEASE BILL CAMPBELL, AND BRING BACK THE $1.50 BLEACHER SEAT !!!" That line gets funnier and funnier with each passing year.
Why can’t owner be like me in madden...make everything 3 bucks
That’s compensation for the The super bowl they choked in
even though in Madden confessions arent really that important, Shit has to go for higher or else youll lose concession money tbh
Manchester United #1 I was going to say the same thing! With profit sharing and the fact most stadiums are paid for by tax dollars it should be illegal!
Rydawg 26 to be fair, the power used in an hour at cowboys stadium is more than all of Iraq in a 24 hour period. Yikes.
@@rydawg26 no worse than your team taking 100+ years to become relevant lol... but ok we should be upset about a playbook being "stolen" and an OC that sold us out for a HC gig and a "franchise" QB that's now out for the year. Everyone that watched that game that isn't delusional knows what happened.
SIMPLE FIX!!!, do not buy anything once you enter the stadium. IF everyone said, "We are not going to pay those prices!!", then 1 of two things happens, either the prices for concessions go down OR the price of tickets go up, IF the ticket prices go up then don't buy a ticket to go to the stadium, IF they start to black out the games on TV due to not selling out the stadium, go to a sports bar and watch the game, IF the NFL starts telling sports bars they can not televise the games (Which the NFL has done in the past) simply boycott watching the games, then the NFL will have to chose, lose Millions and have to shut down, OR lower the prices on concessions AND not raise the ticket prices.
BUT this entire post is meaningless because no one will listen, and people will still choose to pay 8 dollars for a beer and 6 dollars for a hotdog.
ME? I watch the game at home (best way to watch the game) no line at the bathroom, no parking fees, no profanity laced rants by fans (except by me!) the only BO/Farts I smell are mine (and they are glorious!) and any time I want a snack, the fridge is just 10 feet away (again no lines) OH and did I mention, I don't have to pay 50-100 bucks for a ticket!!!?
tbirum Right on the money (pun intended). Television and video have become so good at capturing sports events there isn’t a better seat in the house than the easy chair in front of the tv.
Simple? More like impossible.
tbirum you forgot better replays too.
Amen bros! They should hand out free vaseline at those games to put on yo ass for the fuckin you are about to receive.they dont get my money anymore.quit that shit years ago.
Exactly👌....however the ones that complain are the same ones that keep buying!!!
I'll tell you why in ten seconds: At a stadium, nobody's gonna walk out of the game to get a hot dog, so they can charge whatever they want as long as there are fools willing to buy it.
Wilson are you saying if he said that in a video he wouldn’t get any money so he had to make a 5 minute video to waste our time?
Nope!
Kvon Curry nope because the video explained a lot more than just supply and demand.
Not even “nobody’s gonna” - they literally can’t lol
namelessrocker12 Exactly once you leave ain't no gettin back in lol
For the same reason food and water cost so much at airports. Because where else are you going to go. You're trapped. You're a hostage. Once you're in there, they can charge whatever they want. Duh..
At least most airports have legit restaurants nowadays, it might be overpriced but it's gonna be real food.
I have seen multiple fast food chains like McDonald's and Burger King at Denver International Airport, which is about 4 hours and 45 munutes west of where I live.
In the Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta you can get a hotdog for $2 which is pretty cheap for football concessions.
Yup, they're doin' it like they do in Augusta during the masters. They're at least taking the sting out of parking and tickets (and trinkets) so the Food at least will keep somebody tied over to at least halftime.
What store are you shopping at?
The Baltimore Ravens have lowered their prices too, they call it "Flock Friendly Prices", so have the Redskins but you have to be a season ticket member get them.
Toney Chappell yeah and what kinda nasty hotdogs does$2 buy 16?🤮
Good thing Arthur Blank owns Home Depot to make up his earnings.
There are diehard football fans or kids that have never experienced a live NFL game and probably never will at these prices, That's a shame.
I was lucky to go back in 2016 to see my jets take on the colts apart from getting crushed it was a great game tickets on the night were 5 dollars cause the jets sucked ass that season even then they couldn't half fill the stadium
@@sodaking6858 The team store cleans up as well, Jerseys, hats, etc. 💰💰💰
I park at the elementary school a mile away, eat and drink at the grocery store across the street from them and pay $60 a ticket. Fan on a budget. Who Dat?!
It’s great to see half empty stadiums, No Fans Left 😂
The arena could be empty and they'll still make bank
Pro-tip. Whenever you attend any sporting event, eat before you get to the stadium.
I attended a Warriors game last month and ended up paying around $50 for food. At least I won free tickets to that game
When I was at Heinz Field, when the Steelers beat the Browns to make them 0-16, it was freezing and they were selling hand warmers for 8 dollars! Thank God I brought my own. Lol.
Can't forget the souvenir cup.
I remember when I played High School ball and while out with a concussion I went to get something to eat during a game, nachos (cheap stale tortilla chips and cold cheese) was $7.50, canned soda was $4, and cold hot dogs were $6.
I was so happy that after I stopped playing and just attended the games, my work, a small burger joint, built a food truck and started serving at the games. Fresh cooked to order $10 Burger/Hot Dog/Chicken Tenders/Chicken Sandwich plus half a pound of fries and a drink. Good food for a lot cheaper and you were full before you could finish.
In high school I worked concessions at the old Texas Stadium where the Cowboys used to play. Even then the concessions were contracted out to a third party company and a good part of the revenue did go to the team, which explained our meager salaries.
This is why I don't take my family of 8 anywhere near a professional sporting event.
Ahh come on why not Martin?!?! It’ll only cost you $800 for the day! 😂😂😂
Really cool and informative video!!! I would love a video from you with regards to a recent story I saw on ESPN about the NFL wanting to donate 100 Million dollars, but a bunch of players are against it. I don't know both sides of the story, and I feel you would do a great piece on it!
lol you mean the NFL trying to pay the players to stop protesting? yeah that might be a fun one :)
At Chase Field where the Diamondbacks play you can bring in food and water. We bring in snacks and frozen water. They also have a TGI Friday's. I'll go in the restaurant and buy my food there. The prices are no different than if you were to go to one somewhere else. I will buy an over priced beer.
I can't speak to where the Cardinals play. I'm sure it's quite different. The Diamondbacks stadium is in the heart of Phoenix, there's tons of food and drink competition. The Cardinals stadium is in the middle of nowhere.
That's why when the Super Bowl is played in Phoenix the city looses money. All the parties and events are held elsewhere. Mainly Scottsdale. Places like Scottsdale get all the fun money and the city of Glendale has to pay all the costs .
I went to an Eagles game this week (12-3-18) Domestic beers...$13 now for 16oz!!!! Crazy. Luckily though at Lincoln Financial Field, they let your bring in outside food. Hoagies, sandwiches, chips, any pre-made food just has to be wrapped in plastic and not foil/paper.
the Mercedes Benz has great prices for football games. Usually 7 dollars for a whole meal.
1:27 YEAHHH! ... wait that's not a good sign
😂
FYI: This somewhat applies to baseball. I worked concessions for the San Diego Padres and there was not much difference between the Padres and the San Diego Chargers. I'd be selling a regular hot dog for like $4 a dog in a new venue (PETCO Park) as well as a venue that the Spanos ownership allowed to fall into disrepair (Qualcomm Stadium). Granted this was before the aforementioned 2011 CBA with the NFL and NFLPA, though.
Also, I worked other venues in San Diego County and the prices were pretty much the same regardless of product.
Some major league baseball teams have lifted their no outside food policies
This is good for those who have dietary restraints or who are allergic to peanuts.
I read the thumbnail as "Why zero dollars expensive?"
I went to a Packers game at Lambeau and they were charging more for water than beer
Thats a good thing,or not?
To be fair water is a rarer commodity than beer in Wisconsin, no matter how terrible most of their stuff is.
That's so when they have to stop serving beer they can make even more money! :)
Since they do that because they claim they have to pay for the cup (since their theory is that you ask for water so you can get something for nothing, and they have to pay for the cup) you ought to throw them a loop and bring a cup to the game and ask them to fill it with water. Or if somebody else had a cup they paid for, for a coke say, when they're done with it take it to get filled with water. How much you want to bet they start asking questions like Did you pay for that beverage in that cup? or better yet, "they don't give free refills".
thats because drunk people buy stuff more impulsively.
theyre more likely to buy merch and food and whatnot.
Thank you for mentioning how the PACKERS do things differently! While the concessions at Lambeau are still outrageous...at least 10% goes to local charity! Not to mention they release their financial report every year...total transparency! And yes! Owned by the people! That is why we, as fans, are so loyal.... because we are also OWNERS! Which makes US part of the team!
For the same reason they cost so much at any large event.
You can't just walk across the street for reasonably priced fare.
You're trapped, and they know it.
They can charge what they want and your only options are pay up or go without.
Think "captive audience."
Go to Mercedes Benz stadium in Atlanta. The food prices are so low! You get a souvenir cup for 4 dollars and it has unlimited refills, hot dogs are 2 dollars, a cup of beer is 5 dollars, and nachos are 3 dollars. And ALL of these are great quality!
Thank god I live in the Southeast
This is tru I went to see Atlanta United final season game in 2018 and I bought a burger , fries, hot dog and soda for get this....$18 I was so shocked because I told the lady I’m from NYC and I would have paid at least $30 for the whole thing. ATL you done it againe
Wow $4 with free refills? The 76ers charge $8.50 for a soda and they don’t do refills at all. I was even willing to pay the $8.50 for a refill but they made me get another cup.
They prevent you from bringing anything in under the claim of "improving safety", but in reality it is to force you to either have no food or drink for many hours or pay their ridiculous prices.
OR just simply sue lol
We talked about this in my marketing class, and another reason beer is expensive is so people dont buy a lot of beer, and then their are less fights, and less drunken idiots being annoying
When I was a kid, my family had season tickets for the Utah Jazz. There is a local burger restaurant called Crown Burger located near the arena that has a HUGE parking lot. As long as you ate there before the game, you could park for free. Every time we’d go to a game, we’d get Crown Burger and walk to the arena from there. A lot more food for the money, and much better tasting besides. We might get drinks or even some popcorn at the game, but that was dinner and parking sorted out.
I don’t know if they still do that, but I have fond memories of a burger and a Jazz game with my parents.
Heh, confirms what we already knew
Go watch ice hockey - got an amazing pizza at the Boston Garden and in Edmonton, ate in the restaurant at the Rogers Centre then went to the casino and gambled away the money I saved on food
Damn son, they got me anyway
Still, the ice hockey was fantastic
Cool video brother, those NFL owners are a trip ...
thanks brother!
Did anyone else read the thumbnail as “why zero dollars much?”
Did I notice an up in production value? did you film the dollar roll and "old-time stick up?" Either way, awesome.
And people wonder why NFL veiwership is down. I mean besides the fact that it sucks in nearly every way.
how is viewership down when you're viewing from you home and not paying stadium prices?
@Re Up. You can talk that ratings down shit all you want but the NFL is and will always make billions. They're not hurting at all and they never will. Countries around the world desperately want NFL teams to play games in their country.
Wrong they have rugby
Go jags! Cheap ass tickets to watch a pretty good team for this season?? Hell yea!!
0:57 - 1:01 unless you got SeatGeek.
Mo49 Alshaif it would 420 dollars lol
It will be interesting how the Las Vegas Raiders concessionaires will be pricing their foods/beverages; as there are many nearby buffets at the gaming resorts; where game attendees can tank up on Sunday brunch cuisine prior to game-time; or catch a meal after the game. Off-Strip places, like the South Point and The Silverton, are bargain places for buffet dining.

The reason that it costs so much is idiots are willing to pay these prices!

_"WHY DOES FOOD AND BEER COST SO MUCH AT NFL STADIUMS?"_
Greed. What'd I win?!
There's always hot dog stands outside stadiums/arenas, grab a dog or two for a few bucks each before you go in. If you can't go without eating for 3 hours at a game you probably have other issues at play. The outside dogs are always better than the inside ones anyways
In Baltimore at Ravens Walk between Oriole Park and M&T Bank stadium before the games, you can get Chicken Tenders with Fries a can of soda for less that $10. Only drawback is there's not many places to sit.
:01 THATS ARIZONA STADIUM BABY GO CATS BEARDOWN
I was at Saputo Stadium in Montreal, I bought a hot dog and a beer, and the total was 17 Canadian dollars. On the menu it said the hot dog was 5 dollars. No way the beer was 12. And the hot dog was tiny burnt crisp industrial bread with a tiny sausage in it. There was no ketchup, mayo or anything. Really makes me angry. If anyone at CF Montreal is reading this, I want my money back NOW!!!!!
Years ago you could take coolers into an Atlanta Braves baseball game with your own food and drink. After 9/11, they banned coolers for "safety" reasons and subsequently raised concession prices just to further stick their thumb into the eyes of loyal fans.
Which is exactly I stopped attending games, TV is the move, you see much better & it's crazy cheaper!!!!

The hotdogs go into the blender at the end. That's funny 😅😅😅😅😅
Falcons actually increased their overall food and beverage revenue when they cut food prices. People are more likely to buy three $5 beer than they are to buy one $10 beer, basic economics.
As a Redskins fan, I would love to see Dan Snyder get badly beaten by a group of fans that he charged $2.57 per breath. Dan would be the type of person to do that.
He along with Dean Spanos, Jed York, and Stan Kroenke
You said Snyder instead of spanos at the end bud

I often wonder how many players would still play for the 'love of the game' if they made a working man's wage? Maybe 10%? How many owners would still sign up to own a team if they had to actually foot the majority of the cost of their diamond crown jewel? None?

These three comments are gold.. it says how little you truly know about your body and health.. look into intermittent fasting 12-16 hours.. I have been doing this for 3 years now and can fast for up to 3 days with barely any fluids. When I'm consuming a ton of fluids I can fast for 6+days.. I do not recommend dry fasting.. learn a lot about it before you try. Good luck!

Which is why as a Browns fan I refuse to go to the games unless I have absolutely nothing else to do and I have free tickets. I really wish Browns fans stop buying tickets to that shitty franchise.
That chart was for cap space, they had the highest for lack of big name/good players. I agree they still are robbing their fans
I just went to a cowboys game. Standing room tickets are $30 bucks. It’s hard to see the field but it’s the way to go!

CptCanada I have a goal of seeing a game in every stadium. The experience it’s self wasn’t bad. So far I’ve been to Buffalo, Philly, Cleveland, Tennessee, Giants and Jets (same stadium) Carolina, Denver and now Dallas. I usually get the cheapest seats anyways. A game is a game!
+Road House Alright I can hear that buddy. But if you're going to see your team it would be better to go less frequently and get decent seats.
nice shot of old arizona concessions stand! are you an Arizona fan or was that random?
Guys, this video forgot to show that the referees from their last lockout in 2012, they get to get some cut into the sales of that.
Pretty soon cheerleaders will demand some income from those concessions cause they're all complaining they're not getting paid too much.
Then the mascot performers might want that too, even though they make pretty good money.
Then the stadium staff like the ushers and security might want a cut too.
So things are gonna get worse...by 2030 a beer at an NFL game will be $20.00 cause of that stuff.

Thats why we tailgate before going to any sports ( Packers, Brewers, Badgers Football) here in WI. Also, you are allowed to bring in unopened snacks and bottled water to Miller Park. Its great! Tailgate before the game, get a $10 bleacher seat, have your own snacks, and enjoy an afternoon at the ballpark.
My kids learned early on I wasn't going to spend money at the ballpark. We'd eat just before we'd go and eat again after, if they wanted something at the game, they had to buy it themselves. After a while, you learn it isn't worth the convenience.
Furst
Chris Orso correct you are
The best seats for watching football are my living room couch, in front of my 50" television.
My couch doesn't cost me a dang thing, no crappy parking, no crowds, no opposing team fans to argue with, no Drunks!
Try it, it's amazing!
Appreciate that last jab a Dan Snyder 😂
At Miller Park carry-ins of everything but alcohol are permitted (not sure why a lot of people don't know that). We bring our own snacks and water bottles in a soft cooler, and we drink plenty of beer and grill our brats and burgers in the parking lot before we go into the game!
Jerry Jones has to pay those POLE DANCERS LOL
All Colorado teams do have special stands for school program fundraising that when I was still in school covered most of the band's budget
I like that the beer in the introduction is more than nine times more expensive than from the store. The stadium prize for that beer is only double the price of store bought beer in Norway, though... Yeah, it's kind of expensive here.
That's why I like Busch Stadium since they let you bring in outside food and drinks. As long as your drinks are in plastic bottles and in a soft cooler and not a hard cooler.
Same thing with movie theaters. Movie theaters charge a lot for food because they need a way to maintain the theater and to pay the employees. The money that you pay for the ticket goes to the company who made that movie.
We went to a Kansas City Chiefs game (before Mahomes was the starter) and tickets was just $40 each, the seats were pretty high but that stadium is designed so you still get a good view and we got just fries which were like 5 or 6 bucks
I always smuggle in an open Baby Ruth bar discreetly in my underpants. If they find it when I enter they just let you walk right thru and even give you complimentary directions to the nearest restroom.
