    We've had our Sunncamp 390 sun canopy for three years now. We use it for weekend breaks and at the end of longer holidays after we've taken the main awning down, just to provide a bit of shelter. Do keep a close eye on the weather though. We had an unexpected (LOL) downpour overnight on a site in Mid Wales. In the morning there was a large pool of water resting in the canopy which had collapsed under the weight. I emptied it and fortunately there was no damage to the canopy or awning rail. As a result, I have modified our canopy. I cut one flattened end off the bracing pole and fitted an awning pole sucker. I then removed the black plastic cover from the other end of the pole to reveal a hole in the flat section. I then punched holes through the brace pole pocket at the front of the canopy which corespond with the hole in the brace pole. This allows me to fit a telescopic upright pole at the front of the awning through the brace pole while the other end of the brace pole presses securely against the caravan side with the sucker. I have had no problem with water pooling since doing this and the canopy has been fine through some pretty awful weather. It was a very cheap and simple upgrade 👍👍👍

      Hi Steve, thanks for the info. I can see how this would happen and your fix sounds like it’s done the trick. Will keep and eye on that when it’s raining. Thanks for comments and watching

    I got this a canopy a couple of years ago, think its one of the best purchases I've made for the caravan, simple to put up, lightweight and easy to dry out at home if needed. Not sure why there is a need to buy really expensive ones when this is brilliant.

    Not long come back from France, we took our Vango Montelena 400 with us, put it up for 10 days and hardly used it, we then stopped in Normandy for 3 nights and didn’t bother putting it up due to not being there long enough, we also have a Kampa Revo 270 canopy awning with the privacy room kit, weighs a lot less, can travel with it on the awning rail and is easily put up and taken down in 5 minutes, really wish we had taken that awning instead, when we got home I sold the Montelena.
    Also had problems with the roof strap on our Bailey whilst we were over there, noticed a bit of water staining inside the van on the wall so realised what the issue was and taped the roof strap outside with gorilla tape, got home and took it for it’s service and to get the roof strap repaired, the mechanic also found damp at the back and front of the van so got that repaired as well (fortunately had found it early so no damage and had to have the exterior resealed again) not what you expect from a 5 year old caravan but all sorted under an MB&G warranty - the claim was around £1500, the service cost £160 and 3 new tyres £100 each - ouch!!

    • @TheCaravanNut
      @TheCaravanNut  Před 2 lety

      Caravans are not cheap to keep and maintain, I know a few Bailey owners who have had the same issue with the roof strap, unfortunately it seems a common problem. For me if there have been a few vans with the same issue it should be a recall as a defect 🤔
      Glad you’ve got it sorted, Thanks for comments and watching
