its because Steve grew up with just his mother and at a point in his life there was a couple that took him in and he was basically their step son. He understands what its like to grow up without a father figure and how hard it can be.

That honor line hit me deep, as a man who was once a boy who was adopted. My father never made me feel like I didn't come from him, my dad has always gone to bat for me even sometimes when he shouldn't have. I would die a million times for my dad, he's old now, but when the times comes for me, there's no universe I won't search for him, like Steve's son said "You're it"

@@kimberlyhenderson4806: I am saddened by the cancellation of his talk show as well, BUT.....I'm pretty sure I know the reason. Listening to him telling women NOT to pursue men, sounded like some antiquated talk from the 1950's. A period of time when people got married and stayed married even when they were OBVIOUSLY miserable and discontent in that marriage. Watching how my mother conducted herself regarding man-woman relationships, is exactly the example I did NOT want to follow so, I didn't. Over the years, I have pursued men to whom I was attracted and, those relationships were NOT ended because I was the aggressor. They ended because, our pace wasn't in sync and, most of all, in my more adult years(I am 50+, never married)I refuse to spend more than 6 months in a union that will not result in marriage. Plus, I NEVER subscribed to "shacking up" with ANY man!!

This hits home for me, I grew up without a father. What hurts more isn't the fact he's gone, it's the fact that he's out there still and hasn't turned back for us, it's the fact that he left us and didn't come back, it's the fact that I've seen him with my own eyes until I was 7, felt his embrace close by and saw his back turn and walk away. It's the fact that the person I'd wait for everyday near the front door to come back from work to leave out of that same door without another glance and its the fact that he was my hero, he was the man I looked up to, it was the man that I expected to protect me more than anyone else.
The heart break still remains, as a girl we're more attracted to the love of fathers. I didn't have that, I'm 18 now and my one goal in life is to have a family and be a family.

My dad left after my little brothers birth. But I was only 17 months when he left. So i don't remember him. I'm 16 in 2 days and I've seen him twice. I don't have a father but I'm lucky to have all my other family members and loved ones.
