I've been driving cars for over 55 years and I never "knew" how lost children drove, and rubber could actually make a noise 😮 who knew ! By by the way Scotty what do you think ( do you like it) about the CVT Transmission??? 😂
I drive a Toyota Yaris Hybrid with a 1.5 litre engine and a CVT. More than one friend has commented favourably on the acceleration and I'm very happy with the CVT.
I agree, I hate the CVT. The reason car manufacturers went to CVT is because of Fed MPG mandate. Using CVT saves weight and increase MPG. The other problem with CVT is they wear out quick if the manufacturer uses cheap CVT. Nissan is notorious for using cheap CVTs and they barley last 65k. Replacing them will cost 5k not including labor.
Had a 2015 Altima, after 230, thousand miles, only thing that didn't work when I got rid of it was the rear window defroster, all those years, oil change, tires and a battery, was the only thing I had to replace.., to each his own.

I'd actually prefer the Manual transmission. Does that fvintage,2016) have an immobilizer? If they don't have both, how what years would have them? A manual transmission with an immobilizer key would be less of a theft target.
To the best of my knowledge, the european civics came with a 1.0t, 1.4, 1.5, 1.5t, 1.6 diesel and 1.8 liter engine. The 2 liter only being available in the type r. I have a 1.6 diesel in mine(yes, a diesel engine in a civic, but honda made that call). Most civics here in ireland are the 1.4 petrol engines or the 1.0 turbo(surprisingly punchy little thing btw). Good sweep of the 1.6 diesels and 1.8 petrols with a manual gearbox. The rest are available in automatic and manual and also a lot of hybrids with the 1.5. I personally am not a fan of that engine despite having a soft spot for hondas. Kinda says it all when a honda lover doesnt like a honda engine so this man made a smart move with his 2 liter. The cvt wont be great however if he drives it hard Perhaps this gent wanted a 2 liter engine but couldnt buy one here due to availability. Or maybe he just likes the car.
CVT could be quick, but most of the time a civic is tuned for economy , so it tries to keep the revs down.....but hondas love revs, so it does hurt performance the way they tuned that transmission. If it's rubber belt CVT they try to ramp up the power a little so it doesn't Jatco Grenade.
Scotty, I don't get why a car with a CVT doesn't have the oomph of conventional MT or AT. Seems to me a CVT is the ultiimate oomph setup because it can snap to peak horsepower and just hold it there, sliding the gear ratio from near standstill to top speed while always at peak power. What could be quicker than max air and max fuel all the time?
I had a 2017 Civic with the 1.5 Turbo and CVT. Worse car I ever owned. I sold it within 2 years, could not stand the slow acceleration. The defrost was also awful in winter.
I bought Mitsubishi from 1989, the original struts fail at 2000s. I replace it with KYB and to this day it still works. From South East Asia no winter no rust.
Consumer Reports said the 1.5 turbo did a better job of masking the faults of the CVT compared to the 2.0. But we know Scotty isn't a big fan of the turbo. So I guess with the Civic you can pick one or two "poisons" depending on what model you get. Oh boy!
Was your uncles name Cundiff? Was picked up by a Sgt Cundiff to Camp Eschborn in '82.....he had a great big Ford Station Wagon, thought it so strange to be picked up at the transfer station by a guy in civies, driving a SW in Germany, must hve been a Sat, and was off duty
I've a 2019 Honda Civic. 10 gen. 1 litre, 3 cylinder. Really annoyed now I know that after 6 years this type Civic car needs new cambelt at a cost of around £1500. No mention of this when I bought car 😡
As someone who bought his son a CRZ because he loved it, I can tell you that CVT's are pants. His went out at 60 k. I found a used one for $300 and had it fitted. It didn't work much better. My son was side swiped at a traffic light and the car was toast. I got him a later model CRZ because the insurance paid out and I had gap coverage. I have no faith in cvt's because you can't repair them.
Cvts aren't all bad Scotty. Don't pin the pedal. They take off quite well if you don't pin it. When you pin its the trans drops to the lowest gear ratio setting and just revs to beat hell. Only push it about 1/4 of total travel. Acceleration is way better. This is found out on one of your most hated cvt transmissions, the nissan. In a 2010 sentra sentra ser. 2.5 Ltr. Goes great when you learn how to drive them. Just don't floor it
You try to drive manual transmission, you try to use 1st gear 2000rpm, release the clutch and more on gas than 2nd gear 3rd gear it feel a lot more torque than CVT.
@GF-mf7ml yes, I'd rather have a manual with a four cylinder. I have a 02 civic that get great milage and is a blast to drive. Lots of power. Wish my element was a standard, then I could see what a k24 does with a manual
@GF-mf7ml the cats are better than regular auto trans though that nissan is also fun in traffic if you understand how they react. Best 2 pedal car in city traffic.
@@user-wd8mn8sf1j if a person who normally dives an automatic can learn to drive a stick, they can sure learn how to get the best out of a vt. Its a piece of cake
I'm going to try this stuff on my '16 Jeep Compass 🤔 It's been making a lot of weird noise in the front end. I'm almost certain it has to do with the bushings.
Is it worth it to import the 2016 CVT Civic to the Germany better than sell in US and buy a different in the Germany? Or is the soldier having free transport and free registration and plates from the army?
I have a 90 CRX Si with those same bushing clunk noises. Does everyone agree the AT 295 Reseal Will soften those bushings better than any spray on lubricant?
I have a 2018 K20C2 w/ cvt and love it. If i want to steal it, put it in 'S' and it screams, and you can keep the vtec engaged long enough to watch the fuel drop, thanks to it being a cvt. Another perspective than Scotty's.
Indeed, they are not. It's (among other ops) called the Kalergi plan, and i.e. previous Chancellor Merkel did receive a price for destroying what was left of the country. The Germans are replaced and the tipping point is already passed by. Die Deutschen sind Geschichte. It's part of the bigger agenda and happening in many other countries of the EU. NWO agenda30 should be known by now. After all, it will concern all of us if it is not already (for me it is big times).
What are quick struts? my 2020 crv ex rides very rough on the highway bumps, most annoying. but handles very nicely on back roads and aren't as jarring.
I was going to buy a new Honda Accord Hybrid, but did some research on it. This is what I found out. The life span of the hybrid battery is 3-5 years and the cost is $14,557. Even though I like the concept, I will not buy it. It is just not economic practical at this point.

The cvt wont be great however if he drives it hard
Perhaps this gent wanted a 2 liter engine but couldnt buy one here due to availability. Or maybe he just likes the car.
Military is most likely shipping this for him for free. I’ve done this several times when I was in Army.
The Army ships SM cars for free when PCSing outside the US
So that's where my tax dollars are going? Damn
Honda shocks the entire car industry… by suing Scotty Kilmer
What about the bushing oil dripping on the driveway? Put some card board down or something.
put cvt in S mode, it accelerates noticeably faster in my 2014 Civic 1.8L.
I had a 2017 Civic with the 1.5 Turbo and CVT. Worse car I ever owned. I sold it within 2 years, could not stand the slow acceleration. The defrost was also awful in winter.
Please do a Nissan Frontier when
you can .. Thanks oh and a Mazda 3
I think you should tell us that you don’t like CVT’s
I’m not quite sure what Scotty thinks about CVT transmissions!!! Also, does he recommend quick struts!!!!
Nice. Solder will be chillin’ in Germany, somehow I think that it can be called a vacation
I used a set of KYB quick struts on my wifes car. Rode better than the stock struts.
Oh boy!
Sadly, most Americans don't know how to shift a manual transmission.
My uncle was stationed in Germany in the 80s, took a station wagon over there. It was huge on those European roads.
I have no faith in cvt's because you can't repair them.
arent CVTs supposed to help acceleration though? due to the fact that it keeps the RPMs where the engine makes peak power
How is it that a $57 Billion market cap company is trying and failing to sue an elderly CZcamsr? Hint: Maybe they aren’t trying to sue him at all.
can't sue a dead guy
3:19. Is that customer in background? 😊
Just don't floor it
that's counter-intuitive engineering and not really driver-friendly
I'm almost certain it has to do with the bushings.
id bet most of those codes were from the install of the "info-tainment" screen
Is it worth it to import the 2016 CVT Civic to the Germany better than sell in US and buy a different in the Germany? Or is the soldier having free transport and free registration and plates from the army?
An italian cannot speak if you restrain his hands 😂😂😂 Scotty youre too funny ❤
I have a 90 CRX Si with those same bushing clunk noises. Does everyone agree the AT 295 Reseal Will soften those bushings better than any spray on lubricant?
I have a 2018 K20C2 w/ cvt and love it. If i want to steal it, put it in 'S' and it screams, and you can keep the vtec engaged long enough to watch the fuel drop, thanks to it being a cvt. Another perspective than Scotty's.
The Germans are particular what kind of cars they let into Germany. But they are not too worried about what kind of migrants they let in apparently 😳
They are NOT "migrants" they are invaders, and
the German Government is the ENEMY of the German People
Indeed, they are not.
They only let in the best ! 😂😅🤣🤪😜
Too bad the Germans aren't particular about the quality of cars coming out of their assembly plants. Unglaublich!
GermanGovermentIsTheEnemyOfTheGermanPeopleTheseAreINVADERSnotMigrants.
What are quick struts?
my 2020 crv ex rides very rough on the highway bumps, most annoying.
but handles very nicely on back roads and aren't as jarring.
Sue them back.
Bad-mouthing Honda's transmission is a valid reason for a lawsut - be more careful.
I was going to buy a new Honda Accord Hybrid, but did some research on it. This is what I found out. The life span of the hybrid battery is 3-5 years and the cost is $14,557. Even though I like the concept, I will not buy it. It is just not economic practical at this point.
Yes, Scotty said, if you are a serious driver, get a used car with manual transmission to enjoy the car for a long long time.
He could just baught himself a German car for cheap in Germany and shipped it back with him to the USA.
scotty you put it in normal D try it in Sports gear you will see the different
Damn!!! Honda don't mess with Scotty K.
