VMware Workstation Pro 17 now free! Broadcom's first W?

Broadcom has recently made Workstation Pro and Fusion Pro free for personal use, putting the final nail on VirtualBox's coffin (and Parallel's, for that matter). The world's best type 2 hypervisor is now entirely free, as long as it's not used commercially.

Im sceptical... Broadcom never does things unless it makes them money.

Yea, very out of left field for them to do that, but I assume they are trying to compensate for killing ESXi free somehow and chose the "lesser evil" which would be Workstation in that case.
