How To Grow Chia Microgreens - 3 Ways

- This is a somewhat guide to growing microgreens in which I also compare 3 ways to grow them. The fact that the greens grown in soil were much bigger is because the soil has nutrients in it compared to the water (that might have some trace amounts of calcium)

The ikea tray on the left is just great for growing microgreens. It's sad that they stopped selling them and the hydroponic kits here in germany. Anyways, great video again, thanks for sharing.
Yeah same here in Ikea in sweden, i can find them elsewhere but they cost like the double and are smaller. So I'll hold on to these. Thanks!
That's because you're supposed to eat bugs
awesome video❤

Put out Chia seeds for the birds and a bunch of them blew into my tomato plants and they’re sprouting I’m definitely gonna eat them once I get a little bigger! They seem effortless
How did it go?
This is very healthy, tasty and useful!

You can buy on taobao. I am in China. Search"发芽盘”
The seeds that i put on tissue paper had an odor i cant describe a day after. Same goes to the seeds i soaked in a jar. Is that normal?
I can't remember, they do smell weird in general and I only consume them blended with apple or orange juice.
Which were best? Hard to tell
The ones from the soil were bigger so if I regrew them for size I would go for the soil
I wasn't sure if the actual plant can be eaten 😅😂 thanks for share. I still have a small question.. how do you get back the seeds? How much the wait?
These are microgreen, you don't get seeds unless you isolate 1 sprout in a bigger pot with soil and additional plant nutrient and grow the plant to its full maturity.
@@newmoore4894 alright! Thanks, I have try before with organic chia seeds but no luck .. I will be trying again or try this. :)
Is this regular chia seeds I can find in grocery stores or special chia seeds for micro greens? I’m confused
just regular chia seeds :) you can do this with any veggie btw! microgreens are basically just baby veggies!
How to prevent mold with any microgreens? Hydrogen peroxide doesnt seem to work either. I use soil, a fan, and dehumidifier. I always cover my seeds and have weight on them to help the root go down.thats where the mold problem happens. I havent tried not covering the seedsbfor better air flow. But it seems like if you dont cover the seeds they will dry out and not grow? Also the roots might not grow downward?
You could try to mist the microgreens regularly and make sure the soil/substrate is not too wet. The roots usually forms a mat.
I have the same problem. I'm doing the paper towel method with an open tray and my seeds either dried out even though I was spraying them 3+ times a day or molded from too much water :/ were you able to figure it out?
any clue on how much protein chia microgreens contain?
I think all the fats and proteins in the seeds is converted into vitamins and nutrients when the seed germinates, so microgreens probably don't have much protein at all.
17 percent protein for unsprouted seeds.
You actually get much more nutrients from sprouted seed (besides the fat and some protein) because sprouting activates "enzymes" which are key players to how well we absorb and utilize nutrition and our overall health and well being. Then there is far more beneficial things that sprouted seeds have that non-sprouted do not because they are (locked-in), although I feel with Chia because they (gel-up) my intuition tells me it is not mandatory to sprout them, unless you want the greens for the chlorophyll ect..
What is the background music? It sounds like Rachmaninoff piano concerto 2.

Great for tortoise food.
Mixer grinder brand what
Philips pro blend 6 3D
Interesting, do the sprouts have as much fiber as only the seed does?
Dunno man
I am using Walmart great value chia seeds to sprout in a terracotta dish. There is a proposition 95 warning on them. Is that why they don’t sprout?
I soak the seeds 8 hours snd mist daily. Yet There is no response.
The should swell up directly, if not they are not viable for growing. Seems kind of weird, even if they were old some would still grow
Thanks for response. I am going to try another brand next. Next time I buy alot of seeds I will test a small batch first. I may try contacting Walmarts great value to see how they treat the seeds that causes them to not sprout. There was a proposition 95 warning online on them
i heard cinnamon powder can prevent mold
Somewhat yes but not entirely foolproof, hydrogen which is hard expensive to get works better. But I should put cinnamon up to the test again. The main issue is if the seeds are too wet.
Can you link the seeds you bought?
Any chia seeds will work bro
