      I understand that Zero is a "stiff/firm" string 😬.. when I tried a full bed of Toroline Snapper, that string had that same "unfortunate" characteristic. Snapper launch angle was so low, that I had to change my stroke technique. Overall, sure the string had snap back, but the string had zero pocketing, ball shape, and was uneventful 🥱

    So, this is an interesting video topic at the right time,
    as I am using "several" different strings and set-ups
    (a few mentioned in this video) to hone in on my preferred set-up that compliments my play.
    I realize everyone is different, but if anyone cares (Beckett/TennCom included)
    I'll give my 2 cents on what I've experienced with some of these strings and what I've liked best...so far.
    (Toroline)
    As much as I REALLY wanted to love these strings, I just find them too muted with not many positives
    besides "durability," which if you're a string breaker and are tension sensitive, it's a 10/10 in those categories.
    Spin/Launch angles are maybe slightly above average, but nothing special in my books.
    The best set-up I used (imo) was Toro Toro Main, and Wasabi X Cross (17g)
    which are both softer amd gave a bit more power and spin compared to the other Toroline hybrids I tried.
    The worst set-up I used was Wasabi Main/Wasabi X Cross,
    which provided zero launch angle/spin and felt super muted with a dampened feel.
    (Restring)
    I can't say I'm completely disappointed by this string as I haven't fully experiemnted with enough setups (yet)
    but, the other hybrid setup I'm using is Zero Main/Wasabi X Cross and this unfortunately has a result and feel
    in-between the Wasabi/Wasabi X, and Toro Toro/Wasabi X combos.
    Again durability, tension, and snapback are 10/10, but not enough of a trade-off comprimising power/spin too much.
    (My Current Choice)
    Tbh...Beckett,
    I'm pretty surprised this string wasn't mentioned, (maybe you've never tried it)
    but "Gamma Jet" (17g) for Power/Spin is just above and beyond any string I've ever used,
    and that's even over yTex Qudro Twist.
    (Any forums I've read have GJ as the GOAT for Power/Spin)
    The only cons I could say is that it does lose tension,
    not nearly as much as Lux strings and not as good as Restring/Toroline,
    so I would put it "middle of the pack" which is acceptable to me.
    The other con can be if you're a "consistent string breaker"
    which I can be from time to time, but once I've dropped my tension to 36lbs, I've had less issues with that.
    So...as it stands, my current string setup of choice is Gamma Jet (main) and Wasabi X (cross) 17g at 36lbs
    which I use in my Head XT Graphene MP's (Sinner Mold) and also in my Yonex Ezone 6th Gen.
    Would love to hear yout thoughts (TennCom, and Subs)
    and what strings you use for Spin/Power that's better then my choice!

    @James-qv1dr Před 3 měsíci +2

    Since I've started using rackets with a rounder head and a larger spin window, I have found most polys to be very spin friendly. I find that makes more of an impact than which strings I use.

    Your hypothesis at 11:10 about the tradeoff of feel for snapback, and why it's so, is why I come to this channel. In tennis, everything's a tradeoff. The trick is knowing what for what.

    • @TennCom
      @TennCom  Před 3 měsíci +2

      Confi has a higher launch angle, less forgiving off centre, notches more easily but grips the ball better and feels more muted. M8 has a lower launch angle but still offers more power and longevity. I love both strings, but M8 is my preferred all day unless you get a good deal on Confi.

    I’ve just started using Toro Toro mains with ReString Sync crosses on my Pure Aero 98, 52 x 48lbs…. Had one hit with it and it felt great, crisp, yet lively enough, decent pop but great control, great directional control may I add… And good spin. Initially feels better than Wasabi Pro anyway. Then went and began our leagues and played 2 matches with it and won them both playing great tennis! Also…. For the first time EVER I took my vibration dampener off my strings, I’ve always played with a dampener but one of my mates told me to try without it for better feel, I couldn’t get over the ping noise before but gave it a go again…. And I’m genuinely noticing a feel of difference without it, in a good way…. And I’ve got over the ping noise. Might be an interesting concept for a video for u and maybe for others 😊👍

I strung it 54 x 52 at first and the sync hurt my arm immediately so i cut out strings and went 50x47 and it’s godly now - almost feels like a gut hybrid. Best part is the crosses have yet to notch after ~6 hours of heavy use at 5.0 level, i’m hyped

      @@salberini glad ur having a good experience too, I read or listened somewhere that sync is best no higher than 48lbs, or recommended no higher than 48 and because I don’t like having more than 4lbs difference between mains and crosses that’s why I went 52 x 48 I would of preferred to go a little higher in the mains, but because the control properties of both strings particularly the sync I went with that. And yeah, I’m not a 5.0 but a strong player and I’m quite happy with what I’ve went for and think I may stick to this set up. If anything I am tempted to try Zero and Sync but I am enjoying Toro Toro 👍

    • @TennCom
      @TennCom  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Caviar/Zero would definitely add a lot more zip to your stringbed, giving you more of a 16x19 feel from the 18x20. I think it would be a very fun experiment, personally, but you are at risk of losing the unique control of the 97D with Grapplesnake. At worst, it would be an interesting experiment. I'd recommend bumping tension up by at least 2lbs compared to your stringjobs with Sniper/M8.

      FWIF this was my set up in my blade v8s for league matches last few weeks. Played great. Solid, predictable, consistent and durable. Only cut out after 10+ hours to freshen up. Great spin and control, not too launchy (like FB of Zero - for my flatter style anyway). Only downside might be lack of feel. Not awful by any means, but not confidence inspiring on touch shots.. so the search goes on. Rocking Wasabi / Enso Pro now for a little more pop and softer set up - hoping for more feel.

      They are pretty different tbh. Both have S-tier tension maintenance and durability, but that's the only similarity. Zero has much more spin, more power. M8 feels way more precise and connected. M8 plays a lot closer to ReString Sync. I prefer M8 to Zero by miles for my own game, but I recognize that Zero is a unique product that delivers a lot more spin and snapback than anything else on the market.

      TBDR has better feel than Confi IMO but the tension loss is quite a bit more noticeable. I think you'll probably get more spin with TBDR in a hybrid because of the grip, maybe more power too, especially after the drop, more ball pocketing too. Another good one to try would be Grapplesnake Tour Sniper. SImilar power/control/spin to Conf but more connected with better ball pocketing.

    I love full-bed Zero. It was definitely something different and lasted so long. But when I tried Hyper-G 17 mains and Zero crosses, I hated it. It felt like Zero was locking up the stringbed. The snapback just wasn’t the same. The feel was very muted too. I’m trying to get a less muted feel with Zero involved and from the video sounds like ST7 or Cavier might be something I should try. I’m more intrigued about Cavier mains since I love a poly that has a great pocketing feel. Would it be ideal to try the 1.24 gauge since Zero is 1.23?

      The specific combo I tried was Caviar 1.20/Zero 1.28 because that's what I had on hand. I think the thick crosses really help the mains from locking up. If I had to do it again, I'd do the gauges you suggested.

Perhaps my Ez98 has too tight string pattern, idk. • @TennCom
      @TennCom  Před 3 měsíci +1

      It depends, but the more sides, generally, the closer performance you'll have to round. Most 8 sided strings act essentially like round strings in my experience, whether it me RPM Blast, Tour M8 or Polytour Rev. With 6 sided, sometimes you get hexagon with sharp corners, sometimes rounder, sometimes you'll get a star shape too which gives the most bite but worst snapback. Same with 4 sided, sometimes you get a square, sometimes more of a gear shape.

      Confidential is more muted than Tour Bite for sure, but I think it's go just enough stiffness so there there is some feel. Tour Sniper is pretty similar is feel to TB, just softer. Not as crisp because it's not as stiff, but there's still a lot of vibration and good ball connection. Check Tennisnerd website. There's an article about Tour Hex full-bed and Machete x Tour Hex Hybrid and Big Spin x Tour Hex hybrid, I have written.
      I've also played Hit Pro and Magic Twist, at a lower level of hitting, last year.
      I also look forward to Beckett;s take on whatever Mayami string he likes.
      It's very hard to do any talking about some strings you don't actually like or don't stand-out.

    If anyone knows, does restring zero have better tension maintenance than solinco confidential?

    • @TennCom
      @TennCom  Před 3 měsíci +1

      I'd say its pretty close, but I don't think I'd cross shop the two. Zero gives loads more spin and power (notches less too so more durable) but Confidential feels a lot more connect and gives way way way more control. IMO they are for different players with different needs.

    I strung my vcore 100 zero mains, lynx tour crosses, the worst string set up I had on this racket ever. It's extremely lively but muted at the same time. Totally disconnected from the ball, slices floating 6 meters over the net, and spin is no where near as good as confidential or ytex q twist. I actually forgot how dodgy lynx tour was but zero is also a let down due to sleek coating and super muted feel.
