They should just make a T for this purpose. It's not that hard. Simple T of same diameter of the pipe with 2 larger diameter sleeves that slide over everything into place. What you did was simple too just not great overlap.
Why is there no fabric or rock surrounding that drain - Isn't the drain going to get clogged with rocks and dirt? I did like the T part. I need to do that because my contractor forgot.
This is inside a rock-filled flower bed. The river rock is pretty large so I am not too worried about it making it through the grate. Some small dirt and debris could get into the pipe though. This is a 6” drain and is also hooked to the roof downspouts so it gets washed out pretty well when it rains. But to your comment, Yes if there are concerns about dirt and rocks getting in definitely try to keep those out. I think the best solution is to use a catch basin which captures debris at the bottom and can be cleaned out occasionally. Thanks for the comment.
@@harryshouse7012 Nice, I have a catch basin but the new drain didn't get a "T". Too difficult for me to do. If the drains clogs I will hire someone to clean it and then he can install the "T".
you did not show the most important parts and it looks like you were putting the tee backwards.

Nope. I am standing on the other side of the hole. Check around 4:35, you will see it is pointing toward the flower bed retainer, away from the house.
