I like the Compass, it’s good looking, quite spacious, and the new interior is much better than before. Good car. Yes, I also like it because it’s different from everyone else as well, the Renegade is also good for the same reason.

Bob, stop saying Stellantis bought the Fiat Group. Stellantis didn't buy anything. Stellantis is a group set up as a direct result of the merger between Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and PSA. And Jeep aren't back in Ireland, primarily because they didn't go away in the first place!!

Gansta hand signals from Bob. Hopefully they have cured their build quality. Their cars used to well kitted, but it was like they spent £5, 000 in Woolworths for the extra's..
Great video. 100km's "it'll be grand" love it.

I agree totally Bob about there being no bad cars anymore. Any chance you could test drive a Ssangyong Korando? I would love to see your opinion on it. It's actually quiet a good car. Ssangyong's are underrated. They deserve to do better. The Tivoli is really good too.

An interesting review Bob as you see it, but i'd like to add my tuppence worth.
On my Compass the luggage hooks are part of the parcel shelf support - has Jeep done away with these? They are also removable if you need that extra inch or so. There's also on mine, 4 anchorage loops on the boot floor (which also lowers for more space).
With regards to the fuel economy I'm not surprised. Mine is the 4x4 1.4 petrol auto which will get 38-40mpg on a motorway at 70-75mph - around town waaay low abot 28mpg. But knowing I was ending my commute I was aware of this so not particularly bothered. The Compass is heavy - mine around 1800kg from memory but it has the 4x4 system and a steel ladder chassis like Land Rover, a vehicle not exactly known for it's fuel effeciency...
Have had a chance to take it on the rough stuff?
With regards to the Hybrid I guess it's like all PHEVs and from what my local Jeep salesman (yes, I know he wants to sell me one) if you do about 30-40 miles a day and with the car topped up over-night the ICE will not always kick in - it'll depend on terrain, weather, speed load etc. Top up at work and very little petrol will be used. I see this as a big improvement over the car my Compass replaced - a diesel Hybrid which could only manage 5-6 miles on battery alone. That sounds bad, but my reasoning was not my pocket (a pure diesel varient was cheaper to buy and run) but I did not want to chuck out pollutants on my commute crawl. What I could not forsee was cities turning on diesel cars so although my vehicle was once free of congestion charges in London they came in later as it a Euro4 motor. So much for trying to do the right thing...

Has a bit of a skoda karoq look to it. Looks well in that trim. Boot looks tiny, whats the capacity? Does the lettering on the back say 4x2? Cant believe theyd be still wanting to brag about that in this day and age :)

It's a handsome wee machine, certainly better looking than its sister car, the Fiat 500x. Tho its other upcoming sister, the Alfa Tonale, has it beaten as far as looks are concerned. It also seems that that the Fiat side of Stellantis has upped their quality recently, had a spin in a 500x a few weeks ago and it felt very solidly built. Even the same door closing "thunk" as you found in the Compass.
"Pedants corner alert" PSA didn't buy FCA, Stellantis was formed when FCA and PSA merged into one company. "End of pedants corner"...
Same procedure with waving up here in Cavan, and if its a good mate, probably a flash of lights and a toot of horn too. Its only ojus hi!!

Weight of the car would be good to know, given it is working with a 1.3L petrol engine and carrying some batteries. When comparing it to the Koreans, what is the Jeep warranty period like?

Couple of things stemming from this review Bob which needless to say was great as ever but first of all as you probably know all phevs have rubbish fuel economy when the battery is out of charge so to say that this one isnt great on fuel after the battery runs out of charge is stating the obvious. The other thing I still can't understand is why the manufacturers are forcing anyone with a diesel car unless like me you're sticking with it until it breathes its last, but why are they forcing us down the route of petrol cars that have rubbish fuel economy compared to a diesel. I understand the whole emissions row over diesels but really phevs due to their weight alone which is another reason why it's crap on fuel as it's a 1.3 pushing a big car with batteries in this case but also phevs are worse on their emissions than what folk believe due to their weight alone. Bottom line, nope! Next!

Three words "Benefit In Kind" (although I don't know if Ireland has the same thing). Quite annoying if you have to buy your own car, although not as annoying as finding it is banned from city centres.
