Repairing and restorating a whole bunch of Bosch, Makita, Dewalt, Metabo and Hiretech powertools

  • Let me know what you think of these longer format videos with multiple repairs. Wanted to try something different.
This is just about all the repairs from just one day in the workshop fixing power tools.
No big job lots of boxes of tools, these are all individual machines dropped in by customers.
Most repairs are done on a first come, first served basis. But I do jump some repairs ahead for an instafix, if the customer is badly stuck and I have some time.
The hiretech sands repair was carried out using parts from a donner machine the customer also supplied, so no parts were needed. Only time (3 hours) and labour. May post a longer dedicated video on this later as there are not many videos online showing how to dismantle and rebuild these machines.
The rest of the repairs were all standard repairs, ones you would be getting in every week.
Costs of these repair jobs if anyone is interested are as follows.
    Hiretech 90 euro
    Metabo 10 euro
    Dewalt 25 euro
    Bosch 18 euro
    Makita Grinder 35 euro
    Makita sds 50 euro
    4 makitas 10 euro

I leant my buddy my Dremel tool and he used for a few days. He then returned my Dremel and bought me a new one saying he broke mine. I replaced the brushes and told him he could keep the new Dremel. Then shared your channel to show him how to change the brushes on brushed motors. 👍🤪👍
The amount of knowledge here is incredible.

These long format videos are a joy to watch. However, I understand the CZcams algorithm tends to favor videos with around 10 minute runtimes. Do whatever format is most enjoyable for you to make or to help your channel grow, I will still watch.

Good point. I buying anything new as we still use cradle to grave manufacturing, when we should be doing cradle to cradle by now. Until we do, nothing else we do will matter.

    • @snafu2350
      @snafu2350 Před 9 měsíci

@@deandohertygreaser Sadly, I'll have to disagree with you there. Cradle -> cradle (ie 1 human adult generation of ~10-15yrs) /power tool/ manufacturing makes little sense long-term, as the experience gained by their users will have to be constantly adjusted ('relearned') as new tool forms appear (cf mobile phones & their constantly-changing UI/OS with new generations). Experience with a tool => experience with the job, so changing even minor things just so the marketers/manufacturers gain more sales results in a net loss of work hours (& hence experience gain) as the workers get used to the new quirks & features.. even if those features are useful (once again, cf IT companies eg Microsoft or Apple changing their UI with every other upgrade; likewise with mobile phone companies eg Nokia or Samsung)
Cradle -> grave (ie ~50 - 70+yrs) OTOH means good tools (& therefore their manufacturers & tool quality) will continue despite occasional blips in manufacturing/supply etc due to eg world economics. This also benefits the individual, who can know that their maybe initially expensive purchase will last & be relatively easy to repair if it fails, as opposed to simply binning & buying a replacement (cf eg more 'modern' Bosch green & blue variants from the ~90s to this day: greens are marketed as 'professional' while blue are the true pro (longer-lasting) tool IME)

Yeah, I'm liking the longer vids too. Just amazed with you knowledge & watching all your many various repairs. If thats just one days work, it looks like you have your hands full over there at that place. Tools just scattered everywhere in the backroom! I've always been fascinated at taking things apart...started that as a young lad. But i never always got everything back together perfectly back then!😅🤔 I'm quite a bit older now with all my own tools(DeWalt 20v mostly) so thanks to you, if & when one of them breaks, I'll be able to disassemble it, fix problem, & put back together for another day of work!! I've tackled a pneumatic nail gun or two, just plunger o-rings &\or a trigger 'switch'. Thanks for your time & all you do Dean, from 🇺🇸. 👍👌🔌🔋⚡⚠️🛠️🔩🔧👨‍🔧🍻
