I think it's funny how even the trends people insist are awful and will never come back... always still end up making a comeback. I'm hyped about this, sometimes I love a thinner brow. Easier to pull off with my dumbass downward-pointing brow hairs too lol
đ I know it's crazy
Right?! I was almost certain that the mullet would never be seen again- and now I'm kinda into it. Lol đ
I think itâs because they come back slightly different so it feels fresh and new
Ahh my hairs point down too! I hate it!!đ©đ©đ©
Its not coming back to the mainstream. Slightly thinner brows than we seen in the 10s but not over plucked thin brows as they are very harsh and ageing
They're kinda coming back and weirdly enough I'm starting to like them đđ
Same...it's freaking me out đ
@@AlexandraAnele me as well đ
I have ALWAYS BEEN OBSESSED. I'm 48 and I have been doing it for yrs
my mom has 90s brows under her microblading brows đ
You being into the 90s brow is the validation I need and I donât care if people hate them anymore đ
So sick of people acting like they HAVE to follow the trend. Thick eyebrows donât suit everyone. Do what works for you â€ïž
Exaclly ...i have thin brows not really thin something like her abit thinner ..and yes thick eyebrow dont suit me at your so right it doesnt suit everyone do we should all do what we want
100% agree. My mixed ethnicity gave me thin and sparse brows. Not a lot of hairs, but they're thick, pitch black, and point downward. Trying to do the brushed up thick brow trend makes me look like a cartoony mad scientist. đ
That last part!!
@Venus Infurs Exactly!
I always preferred thin brows ever since I started doing Make-up. I hate this whole âbrushed up/thick eyebrowâ trend. It just doesnât look good, on most girls it just looks messy. Thin brows visually make your eyes look bigger and your face more feminine and awake.
Finally! My brows never recovered from the 90s plucking. Been waiting for this.
Right?! Her 90s brow looks like my fluffy brow đ
Same same same!
Agree.
My aunt has went through probably every eyebrow-growing serum in existence ever since the 90sđđ
It always comes back around doesnât it?! I can finally do this look hahahahha
I'm never going back to thin brows, they looked terrible on my face shape and somehow made my cheeks look gigantic (granted I was technically still a child but still). Still, I don't hate the thin brows so long as they fit the face they're on, much more than the extremely large, dark brows of 2016. I think people should stick with their natural shape and groom stray hairs, trimming the hairs to a controllable length, and using gel to keep them in their desired place. It's possible to use brow gel to give the appearance of thinner brows without plucking them to oblivion.
"Sperm-brow". I laughed, but...that's really the perfect way to describe it! I used to do that. Pretty much every single one of my high school photos sees me sporting way-too-thin brows. Right now? My natural brows are in full force, super thick and full. I didn't realize thin brows were coming back. I'm torn! But you've given me ideas to get the look without sacrificing precious brow hair.
This was right on time. Iâve always loved 90s brows , so feminine and sexy !
We used to also first, brush our brow down, then feather pencil in just at the top, and then brush the brow back up and out. This is what you'd do if you wanted a more natural look. We didn't have the super fine pencils back in the day, and the ones we had were usually blunted from using as lipstick đ
I LOVE shaving mine. It grows back a little blunt but they always go back to looking how they used to. I shave my ends and pluck the middle only. Having to shave them every couple days is worth keeping the follicle alive đ
Iâm with you. I love the versatility and freedom shaving the tails off can give you.
Im trying so hard to picture this and I just donât get it. Do you draw in the tails? If so, what product do you use?
@@LMDinNC Yeah I shave the tails completely and draw them in with a thin eyeliner brush packed with eyeshadow. Currently I only shave "the excess" (my tails grow super downwards) enough so I don't have to fill them in but it still looks lifted.
There's a ton of videos on people shaving the ends of their brows because it was kind of a trend a while ago, maybe that'll help you picture it better!
@@LMDinNC Personally, I use Urban Decayâs Browblade pen. You can draw on individual hairs to look natural, if thatâs what youâre going for. I just like raising the tails in a fox eye fashion so I have more room for color on the lids.
Thank you! I lost my brows due to chemoâŠbut they have grown out , just sparse. I did not overpluck in the 90s and not doing it now. This is a great tutorial in getting the look without sacrificing the brows.
I like both but I prefer the 90s looksâŠfor me maybe with a littler bit lighter pencil.
Thank you!
I never could rock the thick brow trend. My brows are just naturally thin. Every time I would âfake â thick brows, it looked terrible! They overwhelmed my whole face. So glad that more shapely brows are in! Finally, a trend that gives me back my face! đâ€ïž
You don't have to follow trends
@@kaushy - Quite right! I gave up following them a few years ago. I just donât want to look like my Mom? Sheâs been wearing blue eyeshadow since the 80âs! I, at least, want to stay somewhat current. đ€Łâ€ïž
@@kereniinafletcher738 My eyebrows are naturally thick and same. I've always liked how my mom's plucked skinny eyebrows looked despite her constantly warning me not to pluck mine, and here I am in 2023 tweezing my eyebrows almost daily to maintain my skinny 90s/2000s eyebrows, which make me look and feel better than my ugly naturally thick ones.
I survived the 90s brow and definitely over plucked. Iâm living with the pain of patchy brows now. Iâm with you on not over plucking and keeping a groomed brow.
Ugh same! I've been trying to grow it back since ... It's definitely better than in the 90's but not thick at all đ€Ł
I loved a thin arched brow back in the day.... But, ladies.... beware. The thin eyebrow can age you. Since lockdown allowed me to let the brows grow in and youtubers taught me how to fill them right, my bushy brows have taken a decade off my face.
Oh yeah totally. It makes you look older, more serious, and even a bit meaner- especially with heavy and/or dark eye makeup. But if you wanna do something about your baby face (like me đ), then it's a win/win situation haha.
Remember those tutorials from Alex, *How to look more intimidating* and *How to look happier?* This video is a perfect way to summarize the two :
â» Thin arched brows i.e. Alex's left brow (our right) i.e. 90s brow â *How to look more intimidating* (+ older) *101*
â» Fluffy bushy brows i.e. Alex's right brow (our left) i.e. Glossier Boy Brow â *How to look more approachable* (+ younger) *101*
In any case, let's not forget that even though trends are nice and all, what matters most is what *YOU* like. And yeah, best not to over pluck, it's a pain to maintain- plus it can lead to unpleasing situations down the line: daily 20 minutes plucking sessions, ingrown hairs, brows not growing back, and others.
Not for everyone though
Ngl you look good with 90's brows. Actually, you look good with any brows.
Alex would look good even without brows!
I was born with 90s brows! This is good news to me and my naturally thin eyebrows đđđ
You really rock the 90âs brow look. So good on you.
I've had 90s brows this entire damn time! They wouldn't ever grow back for me. So they're seriously coming back?
Finally..my brows are close to perfection. Lol
Btw- you're skin looks amazing đ truly glowing â€
Same!
This is devastating for me because I naturally have thick brows and they finally were popular after decades of bullying. đ©
My tails never grew back in. đ
@@KaylaMarie_ I feel you on that đ
@@KaylaMarie_ I'm so jealous! They're beautiful. Literally my dream. People are so unkind and intrusive! In my opinion, I'm almost certain it was due to jealousy! I love different, because different is so stunning- being unique is truly something special. đ
Me, having thick arched dark brows watching a 90âs brow tutorial: Interesting, will save for later
I do, too. I call them "Joan Crawford brows"...thick and highly arched...and I love them.
I have 90âs brows tattooed on. Iâve had them done for over 15 years now and I am living for this comeback đđ»đ
They're back??? Finally! My brows never grew back so now is my time to shine!!
I've tried many things on myself, but still prefer thin long brows đ„°
I think it's most flattering on the majority of people. Sure it depends on the facial features etc but I'll always prefer thinner brows lol
I personally always preferred thin brows ever since I started doing Make-up. I really donât like this whole âbrushed up/thick eyebrowâ trend (on most girls it ends up looking messy). In my opinion thin (90âs) brows visually make your eyes look bigger and your face more feminine and awake.â€ïž
I love the 90s brow â€ïž
my brows look like this naturally and I'm so thankful đ people are always making me compliments about them and I'm literally doing nothing but a bit browgel sometimes đđđ»đ
Perfection. I hope this video saves the brow hairs of tens of thousandths of youths.
This is great! Iâve never been into thick eyebrows. Iâve also never been able to master the eyebrow technique. I really needed something simple đđœ
The NYX Lift & Snatch brow pen is AMAZING!!! Iâve tried so many different brands of brow pens and the NYX is the cheapest and best!!
Agreed. Why did I spend 47 zillion dollars on the foo-foo Anastasia ones brow products when the Nyx pen is so perfect?
thin eyebrows look so much better on me with my facial structures lol but i donât want to be without eyebrows when i donât have on makeup
And speaking of 90's. Alex, please do Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman makeup look from Batman Returns. Pretty pleaase! It would look amazing on you, I can feel it
Folks, if you wanna experiment with your brow shape, beyond this technique, eyebrow razors are where itâs at! They donât damage the hair follicle, they just cut the hair close to the skin. So that means those hairs will always grow back (it just takes time, and temporarily looks a little funny growing in). I can make my brows as skinny as I want, and it doesnât hurt! I Havenât plucked in years. I even shave the tails off my brows sometimes so I can draw them back on really dramatically different (but you donât have to do that if itâs not your thing). Walmart sells these cute little ones that are super precise!
Omg! Growing up in the late 80s/90s, I've seen some CRAAAAZY brows!!! Women tweezing their brows SUUUUPER far apart, so they basically had enough space between their brows for an entire other, third eyebrow. Basically, the exact width of the old school, pink-daisy-festooned Lady Bic razors.
Then, there were the weird "drunk 7's" (where the brows looked like a # 7 got drunk, and fell on its face.) These brows were skinny, and completely straight, except for the innermost part, where there was almost a 90° angle of eyebrow hair pointing down. The Drunk 7s were a cousin of The Sperm Brow, but the body of the sperm was way thinner, more angular, extreme, and very stupid-looking.
The early 90's hipster girls who twoze their brows into razor thin 1930's actress arches. When done well, this was rad, but sometimes it went horribly wrong. For the well-executed ones, think Drew Barrymore when she has short platinum blonde hair, always wore daisies, and matte brown lipstick.
Then came the late 90s/early 2000's, and you had your Amanda Palmer wannabes. Or the girls inspired by that Godsmack cd cover.
The most hilarious ones were when girls got eyebrow piercings, but tweezed their brows so short and spermy that the brow didn't go anywhere *near* the piercing, leaving this poor, dejected hoop floating in space on a naked brow ridge.
Oh, the things people did to their eyebrows!!
I'm wondering if we can still use our brow pens to get the more sleek look. I don't see why not; it's all how you use it. I have one open Lime Crime Bushy Brows pen, and two unopened ones in stock. Not to mention the other virginal brow pens I have in reserve. I have a bunch of other yet-untouched brow products, filed away in the same ipsy bag. I'm good for the next 5 years, at least.
i love both sides! but this is because you did them well. When brows are well done, they look beautiful either way. I plucked my brows in the 90's, so i can do them both ways, but i no longer pluck them, I ONLY CLEAN THE EDGES A LITTLE, AND FILL THEM OUT LIKE YOU DO.oops caps... sorry
I wish people didnt care about trends, just do what actually suits your face
I love this!! Thankyou!! đ„°
P.s. I know people have complimented your style of videos before but can I say you are one of my favourite people to watch here on youtube! I just feel like you are so genuine in your videos and its so refreshing to watch!! - Just an appreciation thought of the day!!
As always thankyou for the beauty tip!!!
I've always rocked the Pencil thin Drew Barrymore inspired brows.. I have never let my brows grow even through the full brow trend.
This is really interesting because I currently do a mix of both techniques! I love a full, fluffy brow in the front, with a nice sharp tail pointed straight out to the sides. đ
The 90's brow looks bomb on you, Alex I prefer it! Great info as always!
i rarely get to wear makeup that much but anytime I do and I find myself having no idea what I'm doing, this channel is always my go to, always straight and clear to the point a LIFE SAVER
Will always prefer thinner brows on myself and most people. You look fantastic with both though đ
When I was in high school, late 50's, early 60's...yup, I'm old...I way over-plucked and my friends lovingly called me "golf club brows". I have been trying to grow them out for years. It is a slow process. Now they are white and brown. Hard to match a pencil to without looking weird! Yours look great either way, but I'm partial to fluffy!
đ
I think they both look good! Seriously Alex, you can do ANYTHING and it looks amazing â€ïž
full brows will NEVER go out of style! đ
your brows look 90s right now without any makeup. they look so perfect. but yeah way too many lose their brows permanently due to overplucking for the sake of a trend. excellent advice, reminding us that they go back and forth and pretty soon a full brow will be it again! I'm not sure what to do with mine quite yet but this helps until I decide to go to a salon =)
Iâm definitely ready for this one. Iâve hated the recent brow trends. I am guilty of over plucking (waxing) my brows in the 90s. Theyâve never grown back like they were before. đ€Šđ»ââïž
Yes finally, thin brows suit me so much better but Peer pressure
Hahaha mine are naturally thin... glad to be 'on trend' once every 20 years or so hahahha
Iâm glad to see 90s brows coming back. Even though they are too thin for my taste, Iâm just tired of the crazy, super thick, brushed up brows. Alexâs âfluffyâ brow looks so unnatural.
I like brows when theyâre brushed up at the front but donât like when every brow hair is brushed up. Looks messy.
Lots of people naturally have brows like that tho. Its much more soft and youthful than skinny old woman brows
@@Neonrain08 I think I wasnât clear in my comment. I love super thick brows when theyâre natural. Brooke Shields eyebrows are gorgeous! I just donât like this trend where people brush up every brow hair, including the hair on the tails and then fill in hairs. Like Alex did on the fluffy side. Itâs so distracting and unnatural.
I donât really like 90s skinny brows, especially the Drew Barrrymore kind. But Iâm glad to see the brow trend leaning that way so that the fake bushy brows stop.
Love the thin brows. Youâve inspired me to get started.
I'm forever a 90s brow girl...I naturally have really thin, sparse brows that I've had to draw in since I was 12.
I feel like you stopped the death of many brow follicles out there with this vid đ Me and my follicles appreciate you â€ïž
I like the thin one better and make you look more softer and less angry actually (even you think the opposite tho).
I like the 90' brow on you. It looks more natural and also badass. Suits you well personality wise (at least from what you show us of yourself on vids) and it accentuates your facial features better too.
The timing of this video! Iâm in Mamma Mia which takes place in the 90âs so when I tell you I needed this.. Thank you Queen.
Have a great show! Break a leg!
My brows are the 90s brows and never had extra hair anywhere so this is perfect for me. I am tired of trying to over draw it and fail to get them look decent.
Thank you for talking me off the ledge of plucking to achieve the 90s brows!! đ Also, I read somewhere that if you have prominent eyes (eyes with more real estate as you say), a slightly thinner brow balances proportions.
Well been waiting patiently for 90âs brows to come back. I lived through the 90âs brows and DEFINITELY over plucked to the point where they r nonexistent. And I love makeup and decent at it all except for my brows never have I ever been able to have a drawn on fluffy brow or even an instabrow. So Iâm glad they r coming back đđđ
I have embraced my natural slightly overgrown brows and I will not go back
As a 45-year old, I implore anyone who was not alive - or who was a baby - in the 1990s.. DO NOT PLUCK YOUR EYEBROWS THIN. It's 2022 and I am still waiting for eyebrow hair to grow back that was waxed/plucked off in 1996. Biggest beauty mistake I ever made and that's saying something.
If only brow hairs were like leg hairs and shaving made them hairier!
@@ponygirlusa that's a myth lol
I'm gonna keep plucking mine anyways. My body, my rules.
It's very helpful. It all depends ( for me ) on how I'm feeling that day. I like the versatility of a medium plucked eyebrow most the time I go natural, simply because my glasses cover it, and because I'm lazy as hell and don't want to do the upkeep. Lol
Love your videos, you have been teaching this old cat new tricks.
I have naturally thin brows, and your videos are what originally taught me how to create a fuller look with them without having them look too heavy. I will forever be grateful for that information... But it's nice that the thin brows are back in. I'm not giving up my full brows, but it's nice to know that my natural ones are in right now ya know
Hey, so I contoured with an eyebrow crayon today after watching your video and I was blown away by how well it worked! Thanks for the fun tip!!
Fantastic tutorial! 90s brows are what inspired me to become a makeup artist --> esthetician, because even as a teenager, I knew we were ruining our faces. This shows a great way to "trompe l'oeil" so we can save ourselves the post-trend agony this time around đ„°
I'm not ready for this trend! I loveee big brows!!
It was also a thing in the late 70âs. I shouldâve hung out with friends my own ageâŠ.lol
Please don't give me a heart attack in a video title. Major sperm brow flashbacks
đđđđđđ
I nearly died at "sperm brow"! đ€Ł đ€Ł đ€Ł
Love this idea đĄ
I'm still watching even though I have thick brows and didn't do the 90s trend back in the 90s and early 00s. đ
or you can just shave them instead of plucking them. they'll come back fully in a month or less if u change your mind
Alex!! I love how your videos are just honest, straight to the point, informative and REAL. â€â€â€ Thank you for your videos đđ
Sweet! My over-plucked, won't grow back, straight outta the 90s brows are back in style! One trend I can do effortlessly.....
Hi Alex! I am watching the show UPLOAD and the voice of the main female character, her personality and way of talking remind me so so much of you.
I needed to tell you hahaha.
Have a really nice day â„ïž
Btw I really like this video. I stoped using soap in my brows because I saw a dermatologist saying that it can cost problems in the skin like dermatitis because the ingredients in the soap arenât supposed to stay on the skin for hours.
what the hell i kid you not, yesterday i was looking up a tut on how to shave ur brows thinner and u post this today youre literally psychic-
i did end up shaving the bottom half of them and im loving how they look though :)
As someone who plucked the life out of her brows 25yrs ago, I'm both excited and horrified to hear thin brows are coming back!!.. Also I loved this vid, it was so refreshing thank you xx
I prefer the thinner brow on you !
I refused to pluck my brows that way then and I refuse to do it now đ€Ł hat's off to those who get to rock them again though!
Alex, love all your videos and tutorials, havenât missed any!..youâre so real girlâŠ.simply the Best
Back when we was your age.... In the 90's my brows were BOMB. That said... They never came back... They're still basically that same shape, and as I'm here older, they're thinning even more! I'm almost 50... The brows tend to start thinning as we get older (very generally speaking, I'm also white/European) and if one is graying, usually the brows start to as well... They also get wider, or maybe it's the space between gets larger, not sure... A TRICK! To looking "younger", if our brows have gotten wider as we've aged, is to bring the brows in a bit with a pencil (or whatever), it really works!
I love the second brow you did, the fluffy one, whit the NYX pen. I Loooove it!
We are entering a Pamela Anderson revival era and this is already inspiring and influencing fashion, makeup, and hair. I grew up in the nineties so thin eyebrows will always feel like home, hahaha.
Are silly implants making a come back too? đ
@@hausacat I hope notđđđđ
What a plucking great video, I learned so plucking much.

More amazing closeup tutorials, THANK YOU!! Makeup is magical!
This was an awesome visual for me because Iâve lost alot of brow hairs due to chemo and want to try to fill them back in.
Thank you đ
I'm always doing my brows like that. Glad it's coming back đ€Ł
she's so pretty
I am like youâŠI can do both styles with help from my NYX brow pen. LOVE IT!!
Hi Alex, yes young ladies. Iâm 60( feel 24) but I really really overplucked my eyebrows back in the 80-90âs and have literally just a very thin line of eyebrows and they will not grow back no matter what I try. Hang on abs be proud of your eyebrows because if u over pluck when young; you will have none left when matured.
My eyebrows are thick, black and low so there's not much I could do to change anything đ€·đ»ââïž. I like them the way they are till it cones to eyeshadow (no space to work in). I am happy the normal brushing aside is coming back, really didn't like how people brush them upwords. Looked weird.
I was a teenager in the 90âs and I over plucked the shit out of my brows and they have never grown back! So I have 90âs brows no matter what đ© I would love to do the bushy brow â„ïž
Omg Iâm so happy about this trend, bc fluffy brows do not suit my face at all!
Brilliant, you're so good at this. X
Girl you single handedly saved my eyebrows FR đđœđđœ
Omg thank Jesus. I have thin brows and I didnât ever over pluck đ©
In 1997, I was 17. My best friend had the biggest, bushiest most beautiful brows ever. The day I saw her back in school for the new school year, she had plucked her poor brows down to lines. It was shocking. Her brows did grow back but I swear they were never thick and lovely as they were before. Don't do it man. I only now understand she was trying to get that thin 90s brow bc back then I didn't care about what was in style or not.
I straight up just tried the âthin browsâ filter today and was like âfuck I canât start plucking my brows cuz Iâll regret it, but omg is this cuteâ THANK YOU SO MUCH
You can shave them. It doesn't kill the folliquels so you can go back to full brows when they grow out again
Amazing - every time I watch one of your videos I learn so much. I love the full brows but you look beautiful in both options!
Monica and Rachel STOLE my brows and won't give them back!!!!!!! SO rude!!! I wish I didn't have to fill soooooo much in!! It's the fluffy side, for me!! But Alex, you ROCK anything!! Thanks for the teachings!! Your videos are the shiz!!! Blessings to you! âïžđđ
You are the only one, who is not saying (OMG I am so exciting) about this video......!
thanks so much for this video! i really love both full and thin brows and this tutorial means i dont have to commit full to one !! youre basically the only 'influencer' i trust in terms of product recommendations, i bought the nyx brow pen because of you and i love it! also rephr brushes are the best ever !!! idk i never comment on yt vids so heyyyy thanks for being so awesome and the biggest makeup inspiration for me atm xoxoxox youre genuinely teaching me so much haha and for free like what the hell
I do a thinner brow because it gives me a lifted eye look having higher brows
I agree, it opens the whole eye area a little bit more and is beautiful when it's done softly and subtly like Alex did here!
I over plucked...sperm brow ftw!....for decades until I broke my dominant arm and then was basically forced to grow them out again. They grew back fully, which surprised me considering how relentlessly I pulled the hairs out the SECOND I felt them break through the skin.
So then I started shaving with one of those teeny razors, and that was a daily routine, too, because my brow hairs absolutely insist on living their best lives.
Now I'm just their employee at this point and basically my role is to arrange them as neatly as possible while also using a pen TO ADD MORE HAIRS. My brows have not only taken the dominant role but have somehow contrived to make me their servant.
Not the sperm brow đ! I appreciate this video. My brows never recovered after the 90s. It's about time this style is getting recycled đ.
I really love thin eye brows đ
